Cake is what's amazing, and you can truly tell the time & attention that goes into each and every cake.

Honestly nothing too special, and quite a bit more expensive than at other places in the city and in the area. The frosting was pretty good, pretty rich, but the brownie itself was fairly dry. Nothing really special about it. Portion was pretty good though. I may come back to try a few other items, but I just didn't find this place all that special.

I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. The name "Bittersweet Cafe" will take on a deeper meaning (the news articles can be found in the walls before the counter by the bathrooms). Cheers Bittersweet, thanks for having me, and God bless!

Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.

If you are a red velvet cake person, let me introduce red velvet cookies although don't know if that is what they call them. Something from everyone on this front but I rarely venture beyond the macaroons. The bowls with a heavy Thai influence include options such as a banh mi bowl. That's right, no baguette, just rice with a tofu option as well. Really good sauce and pickled flavor. Wish there were more veggies included as it a great taste, just wish more diversity in the toppings. Very casual dining room with tables for 2, 4, and a couple for bigger groups in the back. A counter in the front window gives you a great people watching perch on a key block of Court Street, the main drag in college town Athens.
