There are great pieces of work from jewelry to pottery and more for sale by the resident artists. It was fun looking into the working studios and one of the artist invited us in and spoke to us about her work, inspirations, and previous studios. This perhaps was my favorite part of the visit. The space is not very big so it's perfect for a 1-2 hour visit. There's a pretty garden outside with picnic tables where you can enjoy a packed lunch.

By gallery space, it is the 9th largest museum in the world, and the second-largest art museum in the Americas which I think is incredible. With over 80,000 pieces of art, the largest part of the museum's collection lie in areas of Italian Renaissance painting, Baroque painting, French Impressionism, photography, American and European decorative arts, African and pre-Columbian gold, American art, and post-1945 European and American painting and sculpture.They even have a section with African-American art and Texas painting. We came with a group of 5 on a Saturday as they opened and it was absolutely worth a visit. The Picasso special exhibits are here now and worth a look. The museum also features an Islamic Art Collection, Roman Catholic collection, and African Gold exhibit. Additionally, MFAH offers numerous immersive and interactive experiences for visitors. I particularly enjoyed walking through Ernesto Neto: SunForceOceanLife. A great experience for both adults and kids. Frida: The Making of an Icon, a captivating exhibition, graced the halls of MFAH in January and will leave May 17. This remarkable exhibition showcases over 30 works by the iconic artist. Among the treasures on display are her authentic dresses, back braces, corset, and boot, offering a glimpse into her life and artistic journey. If you are a fan, this is a must visit. Independence Plaza: A quick walk from the Space Center Museum. It is about 3-4 stories high with exhibits inside of it (air conditioned). A lot of the tram tours are a first come first served basis. We didn't go to all the tram stops (complimentary with your ticket), but we did stop at George W.S. Abbey Rocket Park Tour. It was cool to see! Other things you should know about the Space Center: -It's a huge campus, and the museum itself is only a small portion. -My wife went 15 years ago, and it's gotten a LOT better apparently. So if you haven't been in a decade or more, give it another shot. -They don't have much pertaining to the recent Artemis mission. We went as the astronauts were heading around the moon, but we didn't see any current info. -It's great for kids, especially over the age of six or so. -You should book some tours in advance. By the time we got up there, most things were sold out except Rocket Park. -Rocket Park is still cool. The sheer size of the Saturn is incredible. Take the little trolley and say hi to the longhorns. -The Food Lab (the food court) is hit or miss. The salad bar was surprisingly great, and the pizza is abysmal. DO NOT GET THE PIZZA. -You should go in with an open mind, ready to learn. That goes for everything, not just the Space Center. -You know where astronauts hang out? At the space bar. (This joke works better with a drawing of an astronaut passed out on a keyboard.)

I really loved learning about different cultures and especially the Ghanaian fantasy coffins! I had never heard of this before. The display of hearses over the years were fascinating and gorgeous. There's many photo opportunities (they're marked for you too) and lots to learn! Make sure to give yourself a few hours to soak it all in.
