In the left side of the retail store, they had a counter serving freshly-cooked sandwiches and sides. There's a bank of kiosks to place your order. You print the receipt and pay at the registers at the front of the store. I got a loaded fried-chicken sandwich: crispy and hot, with crispy bacon, white cheese, tomato and pickle slices. It was delicious, and one of the thickest pieces of chicken i have ever had in a sandwich, like three times as thick as the gas-food places down the street! I got side of tater tots, just to keep on the crispy theme, and they were perfect and piping hot. Beverages are self-serve all the way across the store. I was surprised to find a small dining area with seating for about 20 inside the store! That's a nice touch. Staff in the store and the hot-food counter were all welcoming and efficient. My only complaint was paying up front in near the chips and in between peanut m&m's, reeses, oreos, and nutter butters. Yes, i had to get some of those, too!

The new owners have moved their repair shop to Carroll Fuel. Luke and his mechanics no longer work there. I understand that Luke is not planning on opening another business--apparently he has retired. The new owner demolished the old station across the street and is building a store and gas pumps, but will keep the Carroll Fuel for gas pumps, repair shop and U Haul rental. I have not used the new repair shop yet, and have no positive or negative recommendation. The new manager seemed very nice when I talked to him about the sale and their new plans. Luke, if you happen to read this, I am so sorry you are no longer working! We were so happy to have you work on our cars for decades, you were always the pinnacle of professionalism, helpfulness and generosity. I wish I knew how to contact you, as I would like to give you a retirement gift as a token of my gratitude. To the new owners: I hope you realize that Luke's former customers have very high expectations of quality service and professionalism.
