Stopped at this Dash-In service station near the highway, and noticed that they had some sort of…read morediscount-gas deal with an app called Gasbuddy. We thought we'd give it a try. You have to get the Gasbuddy app, then give it debit-access to a bank account for payment. That made me a little nervous, and it took a few days, then they send me a debit card. Here we go! We waited for the app to say there was a "flash deal" here (Apr 2026), to get the best discount they have. We "activated" that deal in the app before pumping gas. I guess we could have activated it a couple hours earlier. Then at the pump, the app said to choose the "fleet" card. Well, there's no button for that on the pump. We needed gas whether or not this worked, so we inserted the card, or did we wave it at a sensor? We forget. The display said "fleet"! Perfect. Except, drama: The pump was not working for some reason. Oof. Did we just waste our discount? Nope. The cashier cancelled our charge, and we moved to the next pump and filled up. No prob. We grabbed the receipt. More drama: the receipt showed full price! Naturally, we complained :-). The App said they adjust the price after the gas station verifies the purchase. It took a day or two, but the adjustment was made! And for the record, there has been no mischief with my bank account from this debit card. Savings: $7.28 on an original $41.46 purchase!!! That's huge! Thank you Dash-In for tipping me to this deal! It looks like it works at many gas stations, not only Dash-In. Cool!

The new owners have moved their repair shop to Carroll Fuel. Luke and his mechanics no longer work there. I understand that Luke is not planning on opening another business--apparently he has retired. The new owner demolished the old station across the street and is building a store and gas pumps, but will keep the Carroll Fuel for gas pumps, repair shop and U Haul rental. I have not used the new repair shop yet, and have no positive or negative recommendation. The new manager seemed very nice when I talked to him about the sale and their new plans. Luke, if you happen to read this, I am so sorry you are no longer working! We were so happy to have you work on our cars for decades, you were always the pinnacle of professionalism, helpfulness and generosity. I wish I knew how to contact you, as I would like to give you a retirement gift as a token of my gratitude. To the new owners: I hope you realize that Luke's former customers have very high expectations of quality service and professionalism.
