Just finished brunch. Cool little restaurant with a boutique menu. I had the wonton nachos with chicken. Wife had fish and chips. Both meals were plenty of food. The nachos were Asian based with a sweet sauce. Next time I'm going to ask for a glass of the sauce, it was that good. The fish and chips were large and tasty. The chips/fries were good. I read some of the reviews. It sounded like a really nice place. It was, except some of the menu items, like the blueberry dessert, were not available. Wife got crab cakes. I had a steak. We both got Caesar salads, which were good but no anchovies were available. The Wonton Wrapped cheese sticks were excellent. It being around May 4, they had a drink special called "May the Forth be with you". Cute and tasty. Odd thing was that the GM GPS insisted on taking me to a woman's center. First time at 412 Public House. We got there right when they opened for dinner. It seems to me they had plenty of time between the lunch and dinner times to do something about all the dang flies! There was no food on any table yet, but when I sat down there were five (I counted them) flies at the table and they never let us alone. Not an auspicious beginning. The food helped to make up for it. I ordered the crabcakes. The remoulade was very good and I wished there was more of it. I'm sure I could have got more if I'd asked. Diner #2 got the fried chicken over garlic mashed potatoes, and man, there were a LOT of potatoes! Diner #3 got the linguini with alfredo sauce. Two of us also got salads, which were your typical dinner salads. For dessert we shared a lemon chiffon cake that was also nice. Get rid of the flies and I'll bump this up a star or two. read more

We were really pleased with this selection for lunch! We arrived for what would be considered a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon (no college football - so not sure what that would be like if they had a game on) - and it was still crowded. All tables were full, but they indicated we should be able to get seated in 5 minutes. Pretty accurate - 5 minutes later we were getting seated. Small menu, but plenty of good choices so not a big deal. My wife went with the Chicken Wonton Nachos and I had the Cuban - of course I had to go and make it my own (no egg and pepperjack cheese in place of the swiss). Both of us were really pleased with our selections. Really solid 4 out of 5 on both meals. Wontons were freshly made on site - even told us how to make them ourselves if we were interested. Ask your server for what they have on draft - nice selection, approx 10 - 12 to choose from. We both had a sample and liked what we had enough we ordered one each (my wife a sour, me a stout). Total damage was about $40 (pre tip). Really good place with a chill vibe about it. Made a pit stop to this place for lunch while we were hiking in the Double Springs area since there weren't any decent sit down restaurants where we were and heard 412 Public House was a local favorite to try in Cullman. It's nestled in what appeared to be in the downtown area. There is an option of inside and outside seating. It has a great atmosphere with a great bar. We were seated immediately and sat outside. The service and staff were great, didn't have to wait long for our orders to be taken and our water cups were periodically being filled. The server was very helpful with navigating the menu. The menu is simple and straightforward. I got the hamburger steak and it was cooked exactly how I wanted, Brussel Sprouts were crisp from being flash fried and perfectly seasoned. Everything was fresh and made with quality. The portions were perfect and could easily be shared by 2. Got the fried green tomatoes, no complaints at all and very shareable with our party of 3z It was worth the drive and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I don't think I've ever had anything at 412 Public House that I didn't love! The won ton nachos, the burger, the seared ahi tuna, and much more. Creative and delicious. The tables and chairs are packed in there pretty tightly, so be aware if that sort of thing is bothersome to you. You can always call in a carryout order, if so. read more

I went with my daughter for a birthday lunch. It did not go as expected. After 20+ minutes I asked for the status of our food and was told that it would take another 15 minutes. I experienced that before , but did not consider it when I selected the restaurant for lunch. We decided to get our food as a to-go package. Back in the office I found that my BLT had no bacon on it. Really? The salad had about 1/5 of the dressing it needed to taste. I believe in continues improvement and wanted to make the manager aware of the situation. Both phone calls resulted in no phone call back. The person picking up the phone did not really know on how to handle the situation. The manager was not available and has not called back. I will not go back. The food is average, the tables are so close that your neighbor tables can join your conversation at any time, and lastly customer care does not exist. read more

Visiting from out of town and the reviews drew us for an early dinner. We started with cheese sticks and crab dip for appetizers. I ordered the chicken linguini alfredo with parmesan brussel sprouts, my husband ordered the Gouda burger, and our daughter ordered the chicken special for today, which was grilled chicken with cheese, bbq sauce, and fried onion strings. The cheese sticks were made with a pepper jack and wrapped in a wonton wrapper and served with a warmed marinara. Having a wonton wrapper was a nice change from the normal breaded cheese stick. The pepper jack had a nice kick at the back end of the bite. The crab dip was full of cheese and fresh crab...no imitation crab here. They were served with chips made from wonton wrappers, fried crisp and golden. The Gouda burger was cooked as ordered, medium rare. The brioche bun was toasted and buttery. The nice, thick burger patty was lightly seasoned but naturally flavorful. The fries were crispy with salt and pepper added right after cooking. The only negative was the alfredo. It was quite flavorless and if the chicken wouldn't have had seasoning, the dish would have been a disappointment. However, the chicken kept it just average. The chicken special was a grilled chicken breast laid atop garlic mashed potatoes and covered with cheese, bbq sauce, and fried onion strings. The mashed potatoes had a mild flavor but with all the cheese, sauce, and onions, it gave it the boost needed. Service was superb and they accommodated us by putting a couple tables together. Our server kept glasses full and was quite attentive. We'll definitely return next time we're in from Texas. read more

Food was amazing! Scallops and burgers- OMGoodness! Ambiance fabulous and encouraged interaction among fellow diners. Little narrow and crowded. Had a bit of difficulty navigating a wheelchair from the front entrance to the table in the back, but we managed! Our server was top notch. The only thing I saw was one girl sneezed without a mask sending a frantic chill up my spine. The food was fantastic. The wonton nachos with chicken were delicious. We waited an hour and they kept telling us we would be seated in second with no tables coming available soon, everyone had just received food. We then asked to just push two tables together since it kept telling us we were first in line with no wait time for 30 minutes. Initial greeting was very friendly however the server was not so much friendly or attentive. She would set food or drinks down and quickly walk away not asking if anything was needed. I was dining solo and there was very few people in the restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was cooked perfectly. The french fries I asked for crispy and they were soggy and cold. The chairs create a very loud noise when moved and do not bode well for taking any sort of call during your lunch. I ordered water with lemon and an Arnold Palmer. So...here we are 5 months later. Still great ambience, superb draft beer selection, and outstanding service. My wife loves her Beef Marsala, and Iust admit I loved it too. The portion was large enough that I had to help her finish it. I chose the fried chicken again because I loved it so much and was disappointed to receive three large chicken fingers or chicken tenders. They were large, and they were tasty, but they weren't the half fried chicken I received 5 months ago. As well, my wife had to return her salad because it contained some rotten lettuce. It was happily exchanged for some Brussels sprouts she really enjoyed. Hey, anybody can score some rotten lettuce now and then, and we understand. But a fried chicken entree that looked like an adult size of the chicken fingers the kids at the next table were eating? Nope! Sadly, a fail. First time customer and totally blown away by this place. It has made traveling to Cullman AL, for business something to look forward to. Fantastic food in a fun and lively atmosphere. We had the Shrimp Wonton Nachos for our appetizer and they were awesome. The wanton chips gave the dish a whole different texture than tortilla chips. Then the sweet Thai chili sauce, green onions and cheese combined to make it a very flavorful combination. They were also not shy on the amount of shrimp they served on it, and they were perfectly cooked as well. As for the entree, I went with the Pork Chop with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. I would say this was one of the best Pork Chops I have ever had. The Mashed potatoes were also really good. The chefs here really know how to cook. As for drinks I asked for a light beer that wasn't overly powering on Hops. Our server said she know exactly the beer for me and she didn't fail. She brought me a Pilsner that was perfect. I would say between the food, the service and the atmosphere this place is probably now on my top five places to go when traveling on business. read more
