I was surprisingly pleased with tho place. It's just a down home little country restaurant, exactly what I've been looking for nearby. The service was great, the food came out accurately and quickly. The restaurant and the restrooms are clean. It's very affordable, if you just want to grab something fast & inexpensive. We drive from Gardendale just to get the salad bar and a steak. We love the salad bar. Everything is fresh. Lettuce is torn, not from a bag. Lots of toppings, potato salad, mac salad. We usually get the small ribeye. (Rattler, I think it's like $11.99) and a baked potato. It's always good. I would suggest getting it cooked one notch below what you normally like. The salad bar is extra buts it worth it. Good tea. Never had room for any dessert. read more

Salad bar dressings were so watered down that there was no flavor at all. My wife and I both ordered grilled chicken, it took 45 minutes to bring it out and it was so overcooked and dry that we literally left more on the plate than we ate. Paid $35 and went home to cook a meal so that we didn't go to bed hungry. Waitress was nice but inattentive. I won't go back for a long time. read more

When ordering your steaks, don't use the same terminology as you would in a steakhouse. I have ordered a medium steak several times and there is never any pink--it comes well done. One of the waitresses put a bug in my ear as to ordering steaks. read more

I was passing through, googled places to eat for lunch and this place popped up.. I like steaks, so gave it a try... Down home country feel when you walk in, greeted by 2 polite hostesses, was seated promptly. Waitress was at my table almost before I got all the way in my booth. She brought my tea before I had a chance to go over the menu.. After a couple minutes she came back by to see if I was ready. After a few questions were answered politely, I ordered the steak lunch special with baked potato and added a salad .. The steak was a little thinner than I like, but was still cooked perfectly ( medium rare) and had great flavor, potato and salad were good too.. Overall a nice experience. This is one my family's favorite places to eat! Located in the small town of Fairview, it's just off of Highway 69. This place has some wonderful food with great pricing. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. It offers a salad bar as well. Sabrina and Jenna are wonderful waitresses that are very attentive. Matt is the best cook on staff, but everyone is does a wonderful job. Our family typically comes here twice a month. read more

Everything that our table of four ordered was good, and our waitress was very attentive. The onion rings are HOMEMADE and the best I've had in years! We were here on a Sunday, and the place was packed. A line of people were waiting in the lobby. So, word has apparently gotten out about his place. I'm giving this place three stars, because a few of the people that worked here are very nice. As for the rest of them, not so much. Second, they really need to learn how to cook a steak. If you want it done medium, ask for medium rare, to rare. The salad bar isn't a 10th of what you can get a Ruby Tuesday's. Seems to be a local hangout, which is great for the locals. read more

I'm from West Point, and I honestly prefer this Brandin Iron. Best blackened chicken I've ever had, less drama, and just overall a better atmosphere. They have great burgers, grilled chicken and the lot. The prices are very reasonable as well. The tomatoes on the salad bar are always a little mushy, like they've been frozen and thawed a few times, but the salad bar itself is pretty good. Not a huge fan of their steaks. They seem to be lower grade cuts, BUT the steak prices are really cheap for steak. One of their most popular selections, the Del Monaco is only around 10 bucks. Where else are you going to find steak for that price?? As one of the other poster's said, the steak is usually a little on the thin side, so if you normally get it medium well, you may just want to just order medium or go one step "less done" than you normally would. They are open til 9pm on Sundays, which is nice. read more

Don't order the ham and cheese- ham is way too salty. They have good steak, good burgers and the sweet potato tots are awesome when you order in. When you get them to go and get them home they are soggy by then- I wish they would put them in a paper bag so they can get air and stay crispy. DO NOT GO HERE. My family and I went to eat here and we were served spoiled meat. Two people got the same thing and both were old meat. We told the waitress and she acted like we were lying. Visited Brandin Iron last night. Two couples, each couple,ordered the 22oz ribeye to share and additional sides for each. It took too long to cook and we soon discovered why. We ordered medium emphasizing pink center. Both were well done, very well done. They offered to cook more but we would have been there all night. I had been to the West Point location twice and it was better. My suggestion would be to keep dirty dishes off tables, keep some of the napkins and food off the floor and it will make the restaurant appear a lot cleaner. I don't plan to drive 39 miles again for this. We pass better options on the way there. read more

Very disappointed. Got the 8 oz ribeye cooked medium and it was pounded to about a quarter of an inch thin and overcooked. Will try them again, but not for the steak. read more
