I would give this salon 0 stars if possible. I booked 3 blowout appointments for my bridal shower--myself and my two sisters--each confirmed for 10:30am by the owner over the phone. We all drove an hour to Providence, only to arrive at 10:30 and be told our appointments were canceled because the system had them at 10:15. Mistakes happen, but the owner's attitude was the real issue. She was condescending, blamed me for confirming via text, refused to let the 3 stylists use the remaining 30 minutes for a quick refresh with dry shampoo, and told us we "should know how a salon works." After our conversation of around 15 minutes, she finally admitted she entered the time wrong but offered only a dismissive "sorry." We ended up walking the street looking for other salons to squeeze us in. Several receptionists weren't surprised when we mentioned which salon had treated us this way. Save yourself the trouble--go somewhere kinder and more professional. read more

I was able to get an appointment for the following week pretty easily online, and also was able to reschedule for the next day when something else came up unexpectedly. I appreciate that! My appointment was with Shannalee, who texted me the day before to see if I could come in at 10:15 instead of 1. I couldn't, because I told her I worked until 12:15. She asked if I could come at 12:30, and I said I thought I could make it, depending on traffic. So, then the next day comes, and she messages me telling me to take my time and that parking may be hard at this time of day, and 12:45 is fine. I got there at 12:25 and walked in downstairs. I had never been here before. No greeting. One guy cutting someone's hair downstairs. I told him I had an appointment with Shannalee and he told me to go upstairs. I did. Again, no greeting. I just sat down, as the two stylists were with clients. Twenty minutes go by, and Shannalee has finally finished with her client and asks me who I'm here to see. I said, "I think you, Shannalee" She was nice enough, but no acknowledgment of the fact that she asked me to come early and then I sat and waited for her for 20 minutes with no greeting from anyone. The haircut was fine. She was fine. I have short hair, so it took no more than 20 minutes for her to cut my hair. Then she told me it was $95. What the hell?! I've lived in Los Angeles and had my hair cut in many high end salons and I've never been charged $95 for a 20 minute service. I was wondering if this was always the price and she said this is what she always charges. Ok, maybe for someone who has long layers and complicated hair that takes an hour to wash and cut and dry and style, but she didn't even wash my hair. This just seems outrageous to me. I was prepared to pay more than usual, but not $95. Everyone I told afterwards dropped their jaws in disbelief. I'll be making the trek back my old salon (Society) in Cranston for my $30 haircuts. They greet all their clients with smiles as soon as they walk in, they do a great job, and their prices are great. Maybe this place is good for rich people, but if you're not, stay away. There is a reason there are no prices on their website. read more

Today's day, it is very hard to find a skilled barber who can give you the look you had in mind. I went to Chris DaCosta and he did just that. At first I was unsure being a new client but after the first cut I've found my new place!! Fade, beard, eyebrows, and even a good conversation. I call Brandon Catlow the Hair Whisperer because he does a phenomenal job cutting and coloring my hair. He is the only stylist who's given me perfect highlights--perfect color, without blobs. I realized what a good job he'd done when my pixie cut grew out during the COVID lockdown, and the highlights left no sharp lines. My longer hair wanted to curl, so we changed from a pixie cut to loose curls, about as different as you can get. Brandon handled both cuts perfectly...OK, I'm using the word "perfect" a lot. I was nervous about coloring my hair but we recently did highlights and they look amazing - everyone has complimented me on them. I love the new salon and space. I went in today for my first haircut since moving here and had a wonderful experience. The building is very presentable, located in a quaint neighborhood surrounded by other small artisan shops. The inside is extremely clean, bright, friendly and colorful. Decor is a modern feel with 3 levels of hair studios. Shannon took great care of me and I will absolutely be back.
