I can only speak to my experiences here and I've never gotten my hair done at Magnolia, but for me, it's been 5 stars every time. I've had my lashes done here for many years (lift and tints). I got my lashes done by Val and then Christine and Sadie and they've turned out perfect every single time regardless of the service provider. All the ladies I've been to see have been extremely friendly and professional and it's genuinely an enjoyable experience. I also used to see Hailey and now see Sadie for brows, and I always have people asking who does my brows. Magnolia has never done me wrong! read more

I see Cara she is wonderful. We always discuss what we are doing for service that day and when I want something in a pic or just a certain way she makes it happen. If something may damage my hair she tells me and we don't do it because I have dry color treated hair. The salons atmosphere is very chic . It has lots of art and is a relaxing environment. What's one word I would use to describe my experience at Magnolia Salon? SPECTACULAR! I inquired by email last night, just about an hour before they closed, and Christine promptly texted me back, booking me for this afternoon with JR. She was incredibly pleasant, and the booking process was seamless. When I arrived at Magnolia Salon, I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff at the front desk. The salon itself was clean, well-lit, and organized--a welcoming atmosphere. JR greeted me right on time and helped me decide on the perfect haircut. He then took me to the shampoo room, which is absolutely stunning, with a serene, zen spa-like design that I'd never seen before. The shampoo and conditioning treatment was one of the most relaxing I've ever experienced--JR has a gift for scalp massages! Back at the chair, JR gave me a haircut with great attention to detail, and I immediately felt I was in capable hands. The professionalism goes unmatched! What I really appreciated was that JR didn't push for small talk, which I often find uncomfortable as an introvert. I was able to fully relax and enjoy the experience--it was truly a breath of fresh air. JR was incredibly friendly, and my cut and blowout turned out beautifully. My confidence soared after seeing how amazing my hair looked! When I went to pay, I was shocked at how reasonable the price was--I had expected my experience to cost well over $100. The experience was so wonderful that I've already booked a color consultation for two weeks from now. Having visited many salons across MA and RI, Magnolia Salon is easily one of the best. I had an appointment at Magnolia in May 2025. I had read previous reviews and had high expectations of a quality service. When I arrived at my appointment, I was greeted with a modern and immaculately kept salon. The stylist who performed my service was assigned by the salon. The stylist and I came up with a plan for my service, which was low lights, a tone, trim and style. The consultation was individualized and I felt like I was in good hands. The stylist took into account a possible allergy to root color. I am aware this took extra processing time. When the stylist toned me she was combing out my hair, which has never happened before. The partial highlight was very subtle and not noticeable. When she styled my naturally curly hair, which I paid to be blowed out, her hairdryer was on the lowest setting creating frizz. I informed her the hair dryer was no hot enough. She informed me blowouts weren't her thing. She must have also forgot about my trim because it never happened. Almost five hours later. When I paid including the deposit it was approximately $240.00 for an awful service. I just wanted to leave. I left the salon with conditioner at the nape of my hair and had to wash it upon arriving home. I also had hair dye all over my arms. She was more concerned about taking photos for her portfolio. I will never return to this salon. Make sure you know who you are booking with. read more

Pretty disappointed in my visit here, and the follow up (or lack thereof) after my treatment, and will not come back. I had chosen this salon after much research, read the Yelp reviews and was impressed with my stylist's Instagram--although it was mainly cuts and color. I booked a smoothing treatment with her and everything started off great, my stylist was super sweet and down to earth and walked me through my smoothing treatment options--Brazilian blowout or keratin, and we decided on keratin based on my preferences and lifestyle. My hair was cleansed and the treatment was applied, somewhat haphazardly with areas around my face not really getting any of the treatment. There was no processing time between application and the blow dry/straightening, which I found odd. I've had keratin treatments done multiple times before so I am no stranger to the process, but figured maybe it was a different formula (it looked thicker/sticker than what I've seen in the past) and therefore a different process, so I didn't say anything. The entire treatment took about an hour and a half, which completely floored me, because my past sessions (at my usual salon in NYC) took about double that. I again put this down to perhaps it being a different formula. After, I took good care not to expose my hair to any water, wearing a head covering when washing my face and when it was humid out. I was told I could rinse it out after 48 hours but decided to go a little longer (about 60). Well, the treatment did nothing. There was just as much frizz, and possibly more because a part on the back of my head looks downright damaged. I do have color treated hair and was told these are the parts that would be smoothest because the hair would drink the formula up. I followed up with my stylist Monday morning, she texted back a few hours later and asked me when I was available to come in this week for her to take a look because "no matter what we will make it work." I was really grateful and responded, followed up the next day after no response, called the salon Wednesday and was told she'd call me the next day...and it's now Thursday afternoon and nada! For a $300 service ($250 treatment + $50 tip) this is pretty ridiculous. Will not come back. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Its very dirty too many things going on at once. My hair is ruined. Valentina highlighted it and I asked for a partial which cost me 170.00, My bangs did not match the overall highlight color because the lights they use to dry your hair were not strong enough. I had to wait 3 weeks before they corrected the issue so I thought. Well there was no toner put on the bangs and my hair looks like hell. I would never go back there. Also, they charged me 35.00 to wash and blow dry my hair additional. Who does that. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst relative to go there and lord knows we I have plenty of them LOL. read more

fDon't ever use this salon!!!! A friend of mine had a Keratin treatment that cost around $ 300 with tip. It was never right and her hair looked frizzy days after the treatment. Calls to the salon were left unanswered. An instagram review was removed. No correction/refund was therefore ever offered. When she went to a professional salon in NYC she was told what this salon in Cranston did was most likely an express treatment and not what she had signed up for or paid for. Cannot recommend this place at all. Mistakes can be made but not owning up to it is professionally irresponsible and unethical. read more

I don't usually write reviews but i am just so appreciative of how my hair stylist goes out of her way to make me feel special that i just wanted to write one. I have been going to Angela, the owner of Magnolia Salon, for years. I have very difficult hair and she has always gone above and beyond to give me tips and advice on how to care for it. I have first hand seen her with her other clients and the other stylists in the salon and she is always friendly and helpful to everyone . At this point, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. She did my hair for my daughter's wedding and even though it was a hot july day my typically frizzy hair remained beautiful all day on the water thanks to Angela. Stopped in for a blowout on Friday. I called in the morning and made an appointment for 12:30. Having never been there before I wasn't sure what to expect. It was large and full of energy and almost the size of a hairstyling school. Torey was assigned to do my hair. The hair washing area is an enclosed room which is dimly lit and they have relaxing music playing. It was a great experience. My blowout took about 30 minutes and came out fabulous! I never had a blow out before and if it wasn't $35 I would probably be in every week! I definitely recommend it for a special occasion! read more

My bridal party came here to get our pedicures and manicures the day before my wedding. Magnolia Salon is a really nice spot and I was surprised how big it was once I got inside. We went on a Friday during the day and the place was packed. My maid of honor had arranged for them to make up fruit/cheese tray as well as some mimosa's. Which was a great touch! The ladies did a great job, my only complaint is that they only assigned two people to do pedicures and manicures for six people. We definitely needed a third person, there was a ton of waiting around, quite a few times we felt like we were in the way. So much waiting around that one of the members in our party didn't get a pedicure at all and two of us had to just get polish changes instead of pedicures because we were running out of time. I'm not sure if it was a communication issue when booking or they just thought things would move along faster. If I were back in the area I would definitely head in to get my nails done. read more

Roxxanne fried the back of my head off.. She blamed my thyroid despite my physician, who actually went to medical school, stated that it wasn't, based on blood work. I contacted her, she offered me a free hot oil treatment. I wrote to the owners, and never heard from either one. My first step would have been a sincere apology, but I guess I was raised differently. An insurance claim was opened in March, but has gone no where as the shop claims to have "records" of me saying things that I never said, and blamed me, for wanting blonde hair. Roxxanne had told me about other women whose hair she "blew dry and it floated away" laughing about it. This place is pretty solid, but I'm not 100% in love yet. I had been seeing my previous stylist for 9 years but driving to Boston to see her was getting old. I have seen Sarah 3 times now and I think she's a really, really talented colorist -- if you want super natural highlights that grow out nicely and don't need to be touched up for 4 months, she's your girl. I used to be a blonde and was terrified of highlighting my way back to that, but she does it so flawlessly I wouldn't mind going lighter. Oh, and the price is super fair -- I've paid ~$125 for cut, blowout and highlights. (Sarah has an Instagram account, look for beautybysarahri to see her work!) What holds me back from giving it 5 stars: I have very curly hair with a mind of its own, and it takes a few times for a stylist to learn how to handle it -- part of the reason I stuck to my Boston stylist for so long. It's taken me a few tries to get a cut I'm happy with, but I give Sarah full credit for welcoming me back for a revision. I'm hoping we'll hit our stride with the cut, because the color is SO killer I'd hate to stray! The only other thing I'd point out is: other reviewers have hit the nail on the head with regards to the vibe here. At my salon in Boston, getting my hair done was complete luxury: someone takes your coat and offers you a cappuccino or glass of wine, and you can sit on their rooftop while your color processes. I could spend the whole afternoon there. Magnolia is NOT that. You get in, you get out, that's kind of it. It's not fancy or luxurious or super modern-looking, they still do their bookings on actual books, and sometimes it's not as clean/neat as I'd like. But it's also half the price of my Boston salon, so I can't complain! read more

There was confusion over my apt time, so I arrived 10 minutes after what it was apparently scheduled at. The hairdresser said not to worry about it and I thought it was over. She thought I was sitting in the back with my color processing, but I decided to take a look at the jewelry up front. I overheard her making fun of me and complaining how I was late to the other women at the front desk. When I was checking out, I heard two other hairdressers talk smack about their clients. If you want to go back to the high school cafeteria with caddy teenagers, this is your place....at least hide if you're going to insult the people that pay your paychecks. read more

Dean has been my stylist for every visit and does such an amazing job! He is very personable and has the skills to do even the most difficult of techniques! You feel so relaxed and her touches of a hot stone massage and aromatherapy really make the facial that much more special! You will not be disappointed at Magnolia. Very, very disappointed with this salon. At the recommendation of my sister, I decided to try Magnolia and made an appointment for a cut & color. About 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I get a call from the stylist saying they were double booked and needed to reschedule or I could see someone else, so I saw Courtney. I showed her a picture of what I wanted but she completely disregarded it, cutting my hair way too short and giving me a balayage (not what I asked for), making the color streaky and uneven. On top of that, she charged me $175 when my sister was only charged $130 for the same services. To make matters worse, I called the salon to discuss the situation with the manager/owner but no one ever got back to me. Horrible customer service and I will not be going back. read more

I can't describe how much this salon and my hairdresser, Cara, mean to me. But, I'll try ;) This is such a welcoming, clean, professional, and friendly salon. Cara styled my hair for my wedding day. I have been having her trim my hair ever since. She takes the time to understand what you are looking for each time you visit. She can work with hair in such a way that shows she is passionate about helping others feel their best, and highlighting the beauty in her customers. She is so easy to have conversation with, and she really understands the art of allowing a person to enjoy even just an hour of taking care of the self. The salon itself has several areas in their new location that make it a comfortable space. For example, there is a separate room dedicated to washing hair. Also, the hairdressing stations in the main area are well-spaced apart from one another, yet cohesive enough to make the room feel connected. The neighboring hairstylists are always friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this salon to others for not only their stellar services, but also for their dedicated and welcoming staff. A little tip, I thoroughly enjoy their products available for purchase - especially Bamboo Shine! The perfect scent from this shampoo elicits such a content and relaxed feeling. I get my hair done every six weeks or so with Jen. I've been a faithful customer for over a year now. I always leave incredibly satisfied each time I visit her. It's to the point where I completely trust her to do what she thinks is right with my hair. I say "I want to try someone different, Jen", and whenever I do, she is pure magic. I never doubt anything she does because I know she would never let me leave the salon looking ridiculous.
