Alisha is the best - a miracle worker! She understands us curly girls in all our varieties and has developed a unique system for cutting and styling our hair. My old, curly, frizzy hair was a tangled mass of split ends. Alisha discussed her technique and my options with me (including my preference for longer hair and my husband's desire for a short cut :)) and we made a plan to cut it was back and manage quarterly cuts and shaping to get the length I want, the beautiful curls that were hiding in my mess, and have healthy, easy to care for hair. Went to Lavish salon for the "curly haircut". Sabrina was so sweet. She took the time to explain everything to me, step by step. Everything she was doing and why, and every product she used and it's benefits. Although I left with my hair about 4 inches shorter than I would have preferred, my curls are shiny and healthy with the curliest spirals and full of bounce. The salon itself was clean and decorated well. Staff was pleasant. I was offered a water bottle while I sat under the dryer. I will be back based on the location, prices, and staff. But this time I'll be sure to voice better that I want my hair LONG and not short! read more

Definitely the place to go, especially if you have curly hair. Before finding this place I had more than enough bad haircuts and a lot of salons tell me they couldn't bleach my hair or had to straighten it before bleaching etc. Now that I've found Lavish Salon, I only come here. Being able to go blonde was something I wanted for a while and they fully satisfied how I wanted it to look. I've also gotten haircuts here and you can really tell they understand curls and know what they're doing. Had a great experience at Lavish salon! I made an appt with Christopher based on a friends recommendation. I'm so happy I did. It's so hard to find a great stylist when your a black girl with natural curly hair in RI. The salon itself it super cute and clean. Chris was waiting for me when I got there. I got checked in and we got started right away. Chris explained the whole Diva curl curly cut process. He explained what he was doing and why. After the cut another girl washed my hair. She did a great job. The scalp massage was so relaxing. Chris then added product, dried and styled my hair. I love my hair cut! It's exactly what I wanted. He was so friendly and fun! I heard so manny good things about this salon but my experience was TRASH, TRASH, TRASH, TRASH. Im naturally curly and my best friend was transitioning so I recommended her there. She had an AWSOME experience. The owner explained A through Z and everything she was using. Because I seen how my BF had a great experience I wanted to cheat on my hair stylist for once and personally give it a try. NEVER AGAIN. I arrived and someone was taken for my appointment instead of me. So i waited 5 mins for them to straighten things out which I was fine with. She cut my hair (not saying much to me), then asked me if I can wait couple mins to wash because someone wash already getting washed (COVID protocols), again I was fine with it until 30 mins went by. Then I was Finally called. She started washing my hair, not telling me what she was putting on my hair which they usually explain it all to you. When she got to the detangling I knew there wasn't enough product of my hair for her to place comb thought. It literally looked like I was having a stroke as she detangled my hair, not being gentle at all. Again not telling me what was being used on my hair. She put Deva curl Leave in conditioned (recalled product) and left in and then I went under the drier. When my I was in the wash room, the girl that had been washing her hair was still there, before during and after my wash. When my wash was done, she wasn't even half way done and my hair was curlier and fuller then hers. So tell me how my hair still got "styled and set" before hers. My best friend also went the same day but only for a cut to even her hair out. Mind you her hair was already set (beautifully curled) and she was charger full amount of $100 for simply snipping 6 hair strands. Then she had the audacity to post it on her page like she was the one who curled her hair. When I was done in the wash room, the back of my dress was wet and mask was DRENCHED. I was all freaking wet. My best friend said that it looked like I got electrocuted and COCAINE sprinkled all over my hair when my hair was dried because of how flaky and white my hair was. We went home and she took the product out of my hair to restyle it. Looking like how I looked walking out of there they had the audacity to have tip option on the pin pad machine. I walked out looking worse then when i walked in. Listen, I'm not the type to talk about places who serve me wrong because its not going to make anything better for me. BUT THIS REALLY PISSED ME OFF. especially $115 worth. read more

Super pleased with the end result! I have been a curly girl--Devacurl Method--for approximately 4 years already. In the course of these past four years, Before my cut at Lavish Salon, I had only had 3 "curly-cuts": 1 at the actual Devachan salon and the other 2 at two different salons in the nearby area. Returning to Devachan for every haircut is obviously not smart for my wallet, and the other two places never really stood out to me, which probably explains why my last haircut was almost two years ago. There just weren't many options, and none really had enough reviews for me to be certain that I was going to get a great end result. Until I came across Lavish Salon and Alisha. I was ready to take the risk, and I am so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I knew that she knew what she was doing. She walked me through the whole haircut making sure that my hair was as healthy as it could be without losing too much length, the cleansing phase, as well as the proper drying techniques for my thick, wavy/curly (3b,3c), easily-frizz hair, and made sure that all of my questions were answered. Alisha knows what she is talking about and has a deep appreciation for curly hair. I arrived to my appointment on time yet I had to wait for my stylist to finish curling her own hair before acknowledging me. My stylist was extremely rough with my curly hair. While trimming she was pulling my hair apart in such a way that I could feel hair being pulled out of my head. Also, I have a tighter curl pattern and ripping my hair as rough as she did has caused damage. My stylist did seem to be knowledgable about curly hair care which is why I'm so disappointed and confused as to why she was so rough. During the hair washing process she didn't wash my entire scalp literally just one section. In addition to that, the one section she did wash, it felt like she was scrapping my scalp off with her acrylics. The product that was used left a gross film on my hair and I had to wash it again the very next day. My appointment was scheduled until 5:15 but I was rushed out 20 minutes early with wet hair. The only good things I can say about this salon is that the receptionist was really nice. The energy in the salon felt warm and fun- that is due to the good music they were playing and everyone singing along. Other than that I certainly will not be returning and I wish I could get my $150 dollars back. read more

I have 3c hair. Alisha was my stylist. The cut I got was such a bad shape I had to get it recut at another stylist. The color was different in different parts of my hair so I went back to get another toner and it still didn't come out even. She said my hair just "took" the color differently in different places but I've been going to Devachan for years and that has never been an issue. She was also very harsh with my hair. I personally had a really bad experience here and don't recommend. read more

I've had a total of 3(!) stylists in my life who've made me look good, and they were ALL over the map: New York, Michigan, London. When every stylist is smiling at all the customers, having a blast while they're working, and sending one curly girl after another out the door smiling you know the owner is doing something right! The stylists here are just as nice to be around as they are talented. I really can't say enough about Jaime. He's a true artist that has the knowledge and compassion to get you as close to your hair goals as humanly possible! I went to Jaime with a hair emergency after going to another salon closer to home(big mistake), and he went far above and beyond to get results that were even better than I thought possible. My hair is coarse, curly, dry, and hard to manage, but Jaime rolls with it and somehow makes it look beautiful! He's a magician with cuts, color, and styling, and he still takes the time to educate you to get the best results at home. He is a wonderful person all around, and the rest of the staff seems to be as well. I was really excited about getting my first curly cut, I even paid extra to have it cut with alisha. I was really disappointed, the haircut felt extremely rushed and felt like i didn't get the proper attention on my hair. I met with alisha for a few minutes while she cut my hair, and then she had her assistant take over to wash and style the rest. So what was the point of paying extra to have it done by alisha? She was also really rough with detangling my hair. I just did not get the results that I had hoped on getting. My hair was pretty much left a mess after. My hair wasn't even completely dry once they told me I was all set. I could also tell the way her assistant and whoever took my payment at the front desk would talk and then look directly at me were most likely talking s**t about how it came out. First and last time getting a haircut from there ! Not worth the money whatsoever, probably could've given myself the same haircut at home. read more

I'm a little disappointed. I had my first cut here earlier this week and it felt rushed. I've had a curly cut before and it felt like it took forever so I'm ok with speeding it up a little, but Alisha essentially ripped the tangles out of my curls when cutting and it was quite painful. She also angled the front way too much. So much so I basically now have bangs, which is not a great look for me. It was hard to tell if the cut was even or if I even liked it before leaving because my hair was still very much wet when they scooted me right out the door. I'm not positive, but I'm thinking the lack of hair drying is because of concern with aerosols during the COVID pandemic, but I wish they would have told me that ahead of time. A curly cut really needs to be dried as close to 100% as possible before you can even tell what it will look like. My hair shrunk another inch+ once I got it completely dry. That being said, I would consider going back to try a cut again once this one grows out. They staff is all very very pleasant and the salon is very clean and cute. I probably need to speak up more during the experience, because to be fair no one is a mind reader. read more

I went in for a curly color on my 4b/4c hair. I wanted to lighten my hair. The whole time they were trying to sell me devacurl products and suggesting I get a haircut next. The women doing my color was so concerned about how my hair would look in the pictures for Instagram rather than how my actual hair looked and felt. I left the salon with wet hair and spent more money than I should have. I also know that they are increasing their prices for tighter curls which I think is ridiculous. I'm writing a 5 star review for Celecia Cruz- the eyelash extension pro!! She does an amazing job. She is meticulous. She's quiet during the process so you know she's in the zone! I absolutely LOVE my results and was referred by my hair stylist from another salon. That's when you know she's good!! There is only street parking so keep that in mind when you go there- that you'll need to probably walk a block or two.
