The service by Hayden was very nice and he makes a great margarita. The margarita was simple and clean, very well made indeed. And my husband had the juicy IPA which he said was very good as well. We had the Chipotle burger and the pork tacos both of which were so good. This being our first time we recommend a stop if you're in the area. read more

ONLY A LAST RESORT! Seems almost everything in Escalante is closed. Been here in town many times, so it's not news. Do I give this pub an extra star just for actually being open? Nope! $10 for a single order of French fries!! Big portion of barely edible fries. Certainly they offer a large quantity instead of any quality. We ordered the Loaded carnitas nachos... they were tasty!!!! Even spoke to the chef/ she served them with a smoked pico de gallo. They were meaty, cheesy, and just the right amount of heat. Very nice friendly people. The bar is comfortable and has a chill vibe. read more

A very short walk from my motel was 4th West Pub. It is a neighborhood establishment where local residents as well as tourists gather. The atmosphere we convivial and the staff very attentive without being obtrusive. They gave a good sized food and drinks menu and you can start a tab if you'll be staying a while. I'll tell you that the pastrami panini was outstanding and really complimented by the Parmesan crusted fries. When I was finished eating I was sorry that I didn't have room for another sandwich. My experience with 4th West was excellent and I do recommend this pub whenever you're going through Escalante, Utah. One thing, they do not open until 5PM. read more

An Oasis after a long drive up Cottonwood! FAST Review Food: we got a couple of Utah beers and two Paninis! The chicken avocado and a Pastrami. After a long day of driving, it was great to get some fantastic food. Atmosphere: gastropub feel, bar with great music playing. I got a seat @ the bar, the food was good (cheese burger w/ parm. fries), the beer was good (on tap Heff.), the clientele was good, and the service was good (Dave checked on me several times) Go,. Only bar in town and heard (wrongly) they had a good taco Tuesday. No salsa available. Chips and queso was bottom of the bag grocery store broken chips and bowl of room temp glop. Inedible. Tacos had finely chopped overcooked steak, chopped onions and chopped tomatoes. No peppers, no salsa, no cheese, no lettuce on stale, ungrilled, unheated very small corn tortillas (3). Bottled beer was fine and cold so that warrents the 1 star. Place was crowded and sure don't know why anyone would return. read more

We stayed in Escalante for 3 nights behind the 4th West Pub. Every evening after we got back home from hiking or horseback riding, we walked over to the 4th West Pub to meet our friends for a cocktail and snacks or dinner. The first night, owner Dave was behind the bar and made us feel at home. We tasted several Wasach and Moab brewery beers and had some of their smoked salsa; I could live on this alone. The next few nights we tasted bourbon drinks with UT bourbon served by waiter, Gene; Black Feather was by far our favorite. Dinner was wings and tacos, both were really good. This is a fun pub because most are on vacation or getting off work. Fun little rooms with tables, nice bar to sit at, and a great patio when it is warm. read more

Excellent Excellent Excellent!!! From the moment we walked in, we felt very welcomed. Gene, the bartender, greeted us as we entered. He handed us menus, asked us to pick a place to sit, and told us to order at the bar. We ordered drinks and food and they came out without delay. The food was very good and the drinks were great. We met Miriam, the cook who came by to say hi. She was great to talk to. This was a fantastic spot. Great customer service, excellent drinks, and tasty food. Worst experience. Not sure why the bartender reacted the way she did to us, but we waited at the bar to order 2 beers and sit outside to enjoy the evening. She was very perturbed by our presence, took our credit card and never looked at us again (and also didn't give us our card back or ask if we wanted to start a tab). We were hesitant to approach her again but had to eventually ask for our card back. Stinks because we would've like to hang out and enjoy another beer. We've never felt so unwelcome in a place. We headed over to Escalante Outfitters and sat outside for excellent service and delicious pizza. I guess if you are recognized local you get good service and treated with civility. Plus, one of the only places open in escalante in winter, so that's a plus. Star off because they might have been taking COVID seriously before, but not now. The drinks and food were great. They have a wonderful selection of local beers and ciders. They also make a killer margarita called the Cadillac Margarita. I also got the Southwest Steak Panini and it was so good. It usually comes on a hogue roll but I asked for it on sourdough and I really liked it. The atmosphere is really cool too. We are on a great adventure and resting our heads near the 4th West Pub, so we popped in for dinner and a beer. This pub is surprisingly cute with a warm friendly touch. We sat at the bar but around the corner, it looked like they were set up for live music... something that I have been missing during COVID times. Our bartender, Tayler was great as was the beer selection. There weren't a ton of vegetarian options so I settled on the veggie tacos... they were not the inventive veggie tacos that I am used to, but the flavor was delish and I was super grateful to eat inside so hey, it's all good! The only bar for miles in each direction, this place delivers. It's very cozy and far from a dive. Full bar with all the liquors you'd want, draft beers, bottles and wine. They were slammed during an uncharacteristically warm weather weekend in Feb. they were able to efficiently run the front and back of house with only two people. Had the chips and queso for start and the beef tacos for main. Both are great given the area. The atmosphere was lively and made you want to stay awhile. Great live music. Restaurant was filled by 6pm. Seemed like a good crowd, but there wasn't any place for most people to sit. It was confusing whether there was table service, or if you had to go to bar. Service was slow so a lot of people were crowding the bar to order food and drinks. It took 45 minutes to get our nachos so we were glad we hadn't ordered meals. After driving all day my partner and I decided we deserved a beer. My favorite on tap here was the juicy IPA on draft from Squatters Brewery. So delicious! Very friendly service, but the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. I visited on a Saturday night with my sister--both of our cocktails were watered down. I got nachos and she got street tacos, both of which came out of the kitchen looking like my 14-year-old son had made them. No garnish or green or tomatoes? It was just kind of confusing. They were out of the gluten-free ciders we wanted, they were out of corn tortillas, and they were out of "little straws." Next time we're in Escalante, we'll hit the Outfitters instead. Also, and this has nothing to do with the food, but I found at least three typos on the menu. "Kettle" vodka?This is probably more my problem than anything, but attention to detail is not their forte. read more

We were looking to try some of the local eateries and pubs in Escalante, and saw a cute sign on the sidewalk for 4th West Pub. We checked out the glowing Yelp reviews and gave it a try. We arrived about 8PM, and asked about a food menu (we knew they had paninis) and the two ladies behind the bar gave us a menu, told us to sit where were wanted, and took our drink order. Good stuff The place has a fun old-west look to it, is clean and interesting and decorated with photos and memorabilia of the earlier times in town. The paninis hit the spot (nothing fancy at all, made with two slices of white bread and the proteins inside and had a bag of sea salt chips as sides), and were quickly served. The woman who took care of us from the kitchen did a fine job. Full bar and selection of beers Not so good stuff We didn't feel welcome at all. There was one other patron, and the two gals didn't make us feel welcome at 4th West or really help us (example, my wife asked about wifi, and i finally figured it out and saw the passcode was on the blackboard - they both knew what we were looking for). The two behind the bar were quite EXCITED when a local couple pulled up and they were welcomed and chatted up for all the time we where there. Pours were pathetic. We ordered two martinis, and they were served in a glass that was 1/2 full (either pour more or get smaller glasses). Wine choice is a JOKE. They offer exactly three wines - Barefoot Muscato, Barefoot White spritzer and some rose. Really? One of the two gals spent quite a bit of time badmouthing another establishment in town (where she a mentioned that she work(s)/(ed). She said it loud enough for us to hear in our little table we were marooned on. We went to that very establishment twice on our visit and we loved it, and their great staff. read more

Fun pub with lovely indoor area. Not the best option for vegetarians. They do have options, however the veggie panini was underwhelming. The menu says it has cucumber, onion, tomato, red pepper hummus and avocado, however they told me they were out of the hummus and they also left off the avocado. The beers on tap are great though, and lots of local options! I don't recommend the margarita. read more

What a horrible little place. My wife and I walked in at 8:25 pm on a Tuesday night after driving all day. Knowing that they close at 9:00, we asked if we could still sit and get something to eat. One of the two bartenders said sure, handed us menus and told us to order at the bar. By 8:30 we had ordered two sandwiches and two beers. The bartender who took our order brought our two cans of beer out to us without offering us glasses, so we had to go back to the bar and get glasses from the other bartender. We sat there until 9:40 (yes, 1 hour 10 minutes), our beer glasses long since emptied, in full sight of both bartenders, patiently waiting for our sandwiches. After we saw THEM both get their meals and eat, we finally approached the bar and asked about our own meals. The bartender who took our order looked confused, and replied "Oh, I guess your ticket never got back to the kitchen. We've been having a problem tonight." Mind you, there were SEVEN people at the bar, and both bartenders spent more time on their phones than actually working. Of course we were disgusted with the terrible service and told him we'd pay for our beer and leave. I guess by way of apology, he waved us off and told us not to worry about it. I wish we had read the many reviews of similar experiences before we wasted our time going there. read more

This is the place for dinner in Escallante! Great food, friendly ambiance, very reasonably priced. My hubby and I had steak tacos and carnitas tacos- both were delicious. The Owner/ Bartender had lots of good advice of what to see and do in the area. A very enjoyable meal. Just note, Escallante seems to be shutting down for the season. Many places were either already closed, or closing up in just a few days. Best to call ahead. read more

We were in Escalante for two nights and came to 4th West both nights. We loved the laid back vibe and the beee selection. The owner was behind the bar (we think) and both nights he took tome to chat with us about the area and the local beers. The food was good (I got the pork street tacos both nights) and the beer was delicious. I really liked the polygamy porter and would recommend it if you are into dark beers. I will recommend this place to any friend that is heading through Escalante. read more
