I started walking the aisles and noticed that many of the ethnic products (design essentials and Shea moisture) are enclosed towards the front of the store but other items appear to have been opened and used. Now, if you didn't know what a FULL bottle looks like you wouldn't notice it, but really?? The items I checked didn't have seals. So, long story short... Just go somewhere else! There's another beauty store on Route 1 and another one off Route 17 that both have better service and a larger selection of products.

I asked about the edge-wax she was using because i was interested in buying. She mentioned -They were running low and only gad one left. I cane back 2.5 weeks later and got my hair done and my 5 year olds hair braided. She used a different gel than she gad used prior in my first service. When she finished my daughters hair (2 cornrows) her hair was white. It was like flakes and dried gel all over. They acted as if they couldn't notice. She finishes her hair and I'm still not completely satisfied. The braids were uneven and skinny at the ends.I refused to pay until it was fixed. They damped a rag and wiped it off and used a different gel ( both gels they stated they never used before) and sat her under the dryer. Once finished- it wasn't that noticeable that gel was used. Only here and there in certain spots but i tried to tell them it would need to be rewashed because wiping gel isn't taking it out of the hair. I told them it would flake up again and it did an hour after we left. I texted them to tell her and say it needed to be fixed or a refund should be given. She replies ok bring her back tomorrow i replied wont be able to make it until Wednesday evening and she said ok. I show up yesterday (Wednesday) and she says she need a ride to the store because they don't have the "good" edge-wax that they used in my first service. Every gel they had in stock flakes . At that point i was pissed. Its a beauty supply store and they don't have the necessary products to fix my daughters hair . She didn't even have the courtesy to call/text me in advance to ask me to get the products beforehand. She waited until I'm there at 6:45pm to get my child's hair redone. I took her to DG and she got the products and redid her hair. The finished result was decent. They are So unprofessional and I wont be returning EVER! Then when my oldest sat down and we tried to explain what she wanted the stylist said she didnt recommend bangs because its summer. I got bangs in the same month at the same salon 2 years ago. I tried to politely insist that she did want the bangs and we could manage them. She dug her heels in at which point I became assertive and tried to stand up for what I knew my daughter wanted. This interaction made my kid upset so we walked out. $40 for a dry cut that took less than 10 minutes. It's now 12:04 pm. All of this took 34 minutes. Not the fun girly self care day we envisioned. The owner just stood there and watched it all play out and said nothing. We have spent hundreds of dollars getting my 12 year olds hair colored here over the past few years and I was going to book another color appointment today but now I guess were finding a new stylist who actually wants to cut hair. She is great with curly hair AND color. She matched my pre-existing color almost exactly the first time (I'm red and those are tricky). And in my subsequent visits she proactively tinkered with the color until it was just right. Their customer service is excellent. Fran always makes sure you are comfortable. Once I got a call about 45 minutes ahead of my appointment to let me know they were 15 minutes behind schedule so I did not have to waste time sitting in the waiting area. Look, every salon runs late sometimes, and I really appreciated the courtesy of letting me know ahead of time. Finally, you are never pressured to buy product or do something with your hair that you're not comfortable with.
