My son has been take classes here the last 2 years. Mr. Bobby and the other instructors make the youth classes fun while instilling respect, and responsibility. The kids are also able to make friends here in class and at other events like Parent's Night Out, Trunk or Treat, and a holiday party. My son says what he likes most is that he feels that he is learning to protect himself and he gets to make friends. They are very professional and very caring. My husband finally started classes as well and feels it is a great work out. The instructors explain the moves well and the mechanics on how the moves work and manipulate the body. The skills are very useful for self defense and the classes are fun. Other great things are you have access to an online university to help you practice between classes. They also have a team that trains weekly and competes. The facility is also always very clean and it is in a safe area. Lastly, some might think maybe their child might struggle to learn, but they truly work with students on meeting them where they are if necessary. The staff of this martial arts dojo are fantastic! They are always available and engaged, which makes a huge difference when classes are full of energetic kids. I don't know how they manage to remember everyone's names, but they all do. They keep things organized while still making it fun, and the sense of community is real. The kids have clearly grown in discipline and focus, while also sharpening reflexes, strikes, and sparring skills. The instructors are friendly, encouraging, and create an environment where kids enjoy themselves but also learn the values and techniques a true dojo teaches. Most unsafe martial arts studio I've ever been too... My 11 year old son got kicked in his privates four classes in a row... Direct shots full speed. The First time I brought it to their attention they just responded, "he should be wearing a cup"... um not sure how a cup is going to prevent a child from getting hurt for 6-7 full shots to his testicles? And it was only my son getting this "special" treatment. On top of that... how about a little sympathy for the CHILD!!! nope, "we'll if you don't want to participate, you can sit on the side"... hmmm Yeah, WHY WOULD HE WANT TO GET KICKED IN THE JUNK???? The second was during sparing and he did forget his cup that day so ... I let that one slide... The Third THOUGH!!! They were even watching him take those kicks over and over. He finally gave up on the fifth shot... and they all acted like they had no idea what was wrong?? REALLY? He told them, I Told them!??? Were you all born in a bard!!!??? Once again, "if you don't want to participate you can sit on the side"... no we're going home! The Fourth time, he took one shot and we left. Still no recognition or apologies for my son getting hurt!!!! "oh but our liability covers us" Not From CHILD NEGLECT AND ABUSE! I've been training 41 years and never, ever in my life have I ever seen such blatant disregard for a child's safety. FYI they are not apart of the BBB and refused a refund... which I think is the least they can do since... personal responsablity doesn't exist to them. and yes, I'm notifying the police. We love Kenpo 5.0 in Redlands. We haven't reviewed since moving from the old location. The new location in Redlands is great. It's very spacious, safe and clean. They offer a schedule that is very flexible with a variety of days and times for each class. Our child has been in the program for 5 years. Youth level 4 classes are very well organized. There are different levels of students who break off into sub groups with adult or student instructors. This lets the groups get quick and frequent feedback. Also they offer different classes (judo, jiu-jitsu) and has their APEX team that competes. read more

My daughter has been going here since 2021 and she loves it. The way they teach not just martial arts but also discipline to kids is awesome. They teach kids basic discipline and want them to follow it on regular basis and if kids do that, they are going to succeed in life for sure. My 4 year old little man. Loves his karate class so much. Signed him up with Mr. Bobby's class mid Feb and he has loved it since then. I've observed that Mr.Bobby teaches the kids especially the 4 and under with discipline but also incorporates play in it where they get some motivation. Wonderful training place for your kid(s). The base of the martial arts is Kempo karate but what differentiates it is that it incorporates judo and jiu jitsu which is a must. My daughter is shy and apprehensive when it comes to things out of her comfort zone but it's a safe training place and teachers are disciplined but also patient. They teach the philosophical side of martial arts about respect and honor as well. Your kid also has to earn the belt by demonstrating they understand and can perform the technique, with the extra task of being disciplined enough to do the assigned tasks at home. While your kid is exercising you can watch and enjoy the calories from the sugar filled delights from Sweet Rolled Tacos which is next door. Finding a sport or hobby you enjoy and is beneficial for your health was hard for me. Till I found Judo! 5.0 Evolved Martial Arts have opened up a new avenue for me to stay healthy mentally and physically. My daughter is also enjoying the classes as she is doing both Kenpo and Judo. Our 4 yr old son has been going here for several months now and we love it. Given his age, this review is geared more toward the 3 1/2- 4 1/2 yr old range of kids. It's clean, organized, and has great instructors. Mr. Bobby is also excellent with the kids. He's supportive and fun but no nonsense. He gives warnings when a student isn't acting inappropriately and then that's it. A student is throwing a fit? Ok, you're sitting this out. Someone's not listening and distracting the rest of the class? Doesn't sound like you're ready for advancement today. I appreciate seeing that in a time when it feels like more often than not bad behavior is just tolerated or placated. The kids are also taught personal accountability: they have to sign themselves in before class, go put their shoes and water away before getting on the mat, are told they need to try to remember all of their gear for class too (its not solely their parents job), etc. On the other hand of that spectrum, which is 90% of the experience, classes are full of high-fives (literally after every exercise), laughs, smiles, and "great work!" The kids are taught different techniques individually and also how to work as a team. I do not regret enrolling my son here at all and he looks forward to each class. read more

Copying from my Google review: We love Mr. Bobby and his family! My daughter was enrolled in karate here to learn basic self-defense; she has gained SO much more. She is absolutely committed to her training, and that has a lot to do with her instructor. I can tell my daughter walks just a little bit taller and is so proud of all she has accomplished this far with Mr Bobby and RJ's help. I appreciate that the whole concept is teaching the kids to be well rounded individuals; the kids have missions they complete every month that focus on topics such as responsibility, making friends, how to be a leader, etc. The kids are held accountable of their daily actions by a checklist that reminds them to make their bed, pick up after themselves, do their homework, etc. Granted, this also holds me accountable because I cannot expect her to do things I'm not willing to do lol. Both Mr. Bobby and RJ are encouraging and do not belittle, but instead give firm guidance and quickly and effectively correct stance/form issues they notice. The kids are moved very quickly, learning a new form or technique every class. We appreciate that though, it keeps kiddo on her toes and has her practicing constantly. The only con for me can be other parents. There are a couple people in particular that can be quite distracting due to their constant loud talking, and younger siblings running around. Furthermore, it is a disadvantage to the kids who show up regularly and put forth continuous effort, to be in class with kids who rarely show up and don't practice. The instructors have to stop and spend more time with them instead of focusing on the class as a whole. Both these issues are not with Mr. Bobby, but more with inconsiderate parents. All-in-all I do love this facility and the knowledge my kid is gaining. read more

First I will start by saying it's located right off the downtown Redlands strip..Which for me is Awesome in location because it's next to everything I love... The Parking was great! Plenty of space in the back and the front. The entrance is in the back of the building. Upon walking in you can smell the cleanliness which is a super perk for me. I hate when you walk into a place and it smells like a gym bag... so gross right! It's very nicely put together in comparison to other karate schools I've been too. The bathrooms had little tolietries for touch up after you melted your fat off. That's another plus plus for me!! Mr Sotomayor teaches Kempo Karate for 4.5years of age to adults. &He's well know in his skilled craft too. So great if you have little ones you want them to learn from someone as skilled and long resume of teaching as well as being a student. I perosnally went for the kickboxing class! But I will be getting lessons for my son as well. Kickboxing was AMAZING!! I feel so good about these next weeks to come before summer hits! So of course I am all signed up for more classes! Mr Sotomayor was the instructor for the Kickboxing class as well and he was great. He guided and coached you as well as movitate when you felt like you couldn't go anymore! We did some circut training mixed with boxing and some bag Kicking ...hence KICK BOXING! If you're looking to get in shape by summer this is what you need. I personally need it 3x a week so that is what I'm starting with but they had different packages so whatever works for your fitness goal. read more

I have two daughters that have been going here for about two months now. They love it, it's not only showing them how to defend themselves but Mr bobby also gives them assignments to do at home. I love how excited they are when they know it's time to go. Definitely recommend this place. Most of the time they're running specials like crazy for a 6 week trial for kids I say give it a try and you can see for yourself, there's no pressure to sign up.
