I've been coming to the YMCA consistently since my son was about six months old, he's four now! I first joined because my friends told me about the two hours of free childcare included with membership, and as a new mom, that sounded amazing. At the time, our income was low, but the Y offered scholarships, which made it possible for us to join. We received a 50% scholarship, and it truly was a blessing. It gave me time to work out, take classes, and just have a little "me time" while my baby was safe and cared for. Now that my son is in preschool, I have the flexibility to come at any time, and I love that freedom. The childcare hours used to be limited to mornings (around 8 to 12) and a bit in the afternoon (around 3:30), but now I just come whenever I can. I usually do my own workouts since the group class times don't always fit my schedule, but there's such a great variety, swimming, tap, pilates, fusion, and so much more. Another thing I love is the sense of community. I often see friends from church here, and it feels like an extension of that family atmosphere. The staff is generally friendly, though a few could be a bit more personable, but overall, they're helpful and kind. For the value, variety, and community, the YMCA has been such a big part of my life these past few years. I'm so grateful for it, and I can honestly say, I love the Y! read more

Redlands family YMCA is way bigger than any of the other IE locations. It's got a lot of newer equipment that the other locations don't have. It's a great facility for kids as they have a lot of classes. It has a large workout area but I hate the setup. All the machines are so colse together that a bunch of them are facing each from across. I like my space and it feels so cramped. That we don't come here anymore. read more

We joined the Y when we moved back to Redlands about 18 months ago. .....Our kids were going there, it was close to home, seemed like the right thing to do. Unfortunately it continues to go down hill. Not sure what's is happening, but the place is dirty and it smells bad most of the time....While we were staying in Carlsbad this last summer we used the Y facilities down there.....WOW!!!!it's like going to a private gym. First of all it's soooo large. And secondly it's clean & up to date. It even has a food court... protein drinks, bars, water, etc..... The Redlands Y used to be our go to place, and I believe this to be true for a lot of Redlands Families.....But now the needs are long.... needs to be updated, needs to be refreshed with paint, needs the carpet cleaned etc...needs, needs! The staff is pleasant but honestly I don't think anyone has taught them how to clean so they don't and believe me you can tell. I was afraid to drop my water bottle on this carpet. Natalie, Sarina and Melissa are phenomenal lifeguards. Plain and simple they create a very consistent and dynamic aquatics atmosphere. There is never any doubt that the pool will open sharply at 5 am so professionals can do there workouts and then get to work on time. I attended the circus performance they did and it was outstanding great performance choreography was wonderful. Costumes were great. Every act had a different theme and music and costumes to go with it. A true Circus my favorite was the trapeze artist, but I liked all the performances. looking forward to going again next year. read more

Grossly inept mismanagement at all levels. They close down all the locker rooms in the middle of the day for the benefit of pre-teens who already have their own, separate, private locker room. And since the pool is only open one hour a day and the locker room doesn't re-open until that hour, you're out 15 minutes of swim time (that's assumg the children aren't lingering, of course). These folks really don't understand what business they're in and are completely unresponsive to members. For the half the annual cost and no hassles, buy a bicycle. read more

I am so grateful for them! I really enjoy the gym, everyone is respectful, clean, and hardly ever is someone recording. I Attended the Circus performance they did and it was outstanding. They had 16 different acts in the first half and 16 in the second half. Each act had a theme with music and costumes all very well planned out. Choreography was excellent and entertaining. I throughly enjoyed it and plan to attend next years show. They kept on theme as a true circus even down to the roust-a-bouts. Big hand to that group for all their hard work in keeping everyone on schedule and safe. Loved all the performances. Especially the trapeze acts but really all of them. read more

While this may appear to be a nice facility be mindful if you are of a different race. This facility (the director) tried to pretend as if the issue with his employees providing me misinformation was my fault. After explaining to him the details of the events, he then went on to say he would be sure to " take my id and document our conversation". There is no need to imply you will document as if I have the motive to "get over" by using the facility that one I had to drive 38 min away in the rain, what motive would I have to try to use a facility over wasting my gas and time. This is the YMCA there is no need to document a conversation. He assumed that I was not an adult while I am an adult and was the parent of the child that with me. Completely unorganized. They tell you to sign up early for all activities however they over fill all activities for the kids..they do not have a max. I want to love this place. The facility is lovely and I'm sure the day camp is great for a lot of kids, but I wouldn't recommend for children who need a little extra help with emotional regulation. I was informed that the director of the day camp instructed the staff that if ANYTHING were to occur with my son specifically, that I must be called immediately and he should be taken home. While I understand sometimes my son needs extra help, this made me feel that he was singled out and that they really did not want to welcome my family in the facility. I understand their responsibility to all the campers, but with as much as my son says he feels bullied and singled out, and then the staff stating that they had been instructed to watch him specifically, I don't feel comfortable ever coming back. :( read more

This site has it all: cordial competent staff, considerate members, basketball gym, workout room, Pilates equipment room, incredible swimming complex, a kitchenette, and great classes. I especially make use of the fireplace lounge where I can answer emails, write reports, and have friendly conversations with others. The other area fitness clubs don't even come close to all of these features. read more

Basketball courts, racquetball courts, pools, a gym, daycare, classes, and more; they've got it all. They've helped many in Redlands and have played an important role in shaping the lives of many children in the city. I've been going here for 3 years now. There are 3 locations: Redlands (the main one) Highland and San Bernardino. On the plus side, this is the best value in gym memberships as it's never very busy so you won't have to fight to get on a machine. Most gyms don't have pools so that's a real plus, although Highland has really limited pool hours. You also won't have to put up with shady membership practices of commercial gyms. But things could be better. Management is unresponsive to members. Maintenance is slow. Machines used to be more spread out but now they cram all of the equipment in so close together you can hardly walk through the main gyms in both Highland and Redlands. Stretching mats are right in the middle of traffic walkways at Highland. The main amenities at Redlands are racquetball and you have to give them your driver's license to get the key. If they lose your license or someone makes a copy for identity theft, they figure that's your problem. There is a sauna in the locker rooms at Redlands but they have some strange and unsanitary rules about that, so I can't recommend it. (I never see anyone in there, so apparently others agree with me), so skip the full membership and just go the Highland gym for about half the price. San Bernardino has the most friendly staff but the hours are so limited it's not really worth considering unless you live nearby. You would expect YMCAs to be a social outlet but I haven't found that to be the case. There is no way to meet a workout or racquetball buddy. Perhaps the classes are social but they seem to be very oriented to women. When I first joined I got 4 sessions with a personal trainer who was great but their intake forms are a bit ageist. Apparently if you're between the ages of 18 and 24 you can't join because their membership options completely bypass this age group. There are no day passes, so they leave a lot of money on the table for people who can't afford an $864 annual commitment. They give you a week free but then you have to sign up and the free week is a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I suspect they also miss out on having high schoolers do their PE requirements under a self-study program at the Y with a personal trainer. Particularly valuable for homeschooled kids. More money left on the table. East Valley Y could easily score 5 stars and be more successful with better management. read more

I love this gym. I have been attending fitness classes for the past month and I really enjoy the variety of the classes as well as the instructors. The gym equipment itself is good as well. There is a variety of weighted machines and a good amount of elliptical and treadmills. There are 3 sets of pools; 2 indoor pools and 1 outdoor pool that is suited more for children. There is a little water playground outside which has been a fun place to visit with my son. My son was enrolled in the swim classes. Also, they have daycare available. Be careful during peak times because the daycare can get full and you may not be able to place your child there. The only gripe I have is the fact that the locker rooms are carpeted which I can't help but think how gross the carpet might be from people walking around with shoes or coming in wet from the pool/showers. read more

This YMCA does not pay their lifeguards to do a mandatory crossover training. If the lifeguards refuse to do thE training for free then their hours get taken off the schedule. The aquatics dIrector never has anything positive to say to her lifeguards! Everything is negative! My fiancé did the crosssover training for 2 full days plus 1 full day of online courses at home unpaid!!! I think this aquatics director needs to get her shit together! She runs 3 facilities and none of her employees like her! No wonder why her turnover rate is increasing! read more

My boys played basketball (one session only) and my daughter is currently enrolled in acro. Everything is very disorganized and staff does not communicate well with its members and are rude. My boys never returned for another session and I pulled my daughter out of acro. Also, I'm very disappointed that they have NOT temporarily closed due to COVID-19. Today my friends and I went to play basketball and the lady at the front desk made me waste my time. If I'm correct her name is Emmie. My friends and I woke up early to hoop and she at first wasted my time by telling me the court was not open. Then said she needed to check. If I was a clerk I should know everything that is happening in the facility. Finally a director walked by and she informed the clerk the court is still open. Then she again wasted my time by telling me that the highland Ymca is open at 11 she herself checked and was wrong. We were just about ready to leave to highland. Can we please make sure the people at the front desk know the operations inside of the facility. There should be better communication between associates. read more

Great facility. Some super nice staff and programs. But uneven. Some programs and staff are terrible and extremely disorganized. I've been a member of various YMCA's around the US all of which had inferior facilities but superior staff. I think Redlands needs to step it up. Also, most staff are young and are getting poor on the job training from their managers. In particular I'd like to say that the aquatics director Roshelle is very rude and unprofessional. read more

I have a National membership and come here half the time. Staff now welcomes me and switches the system proactively so I can check in. Somersaults, double back flip into a standing iron cross. I have no idea what I'm writing. I'm just excited about being a member at the Redlands Family YMCA. It's the BEST. GYM. EVER. They've got modern new equipment that is top of the line and in good working order. They have a person in the gym at all times if you need anything. There's swimming pools, tons of classes day and night, every day of the week. My wife goes to the pilates classes and loves it. It's a fraction of the cost that she used to pay when we were living in Los Angeles. There's free Yfi (wifi for everyone else) and cable TV it you find yourself on a treadmill or elliptical machine. Don't bring a gym towel, they'll give you one. Sweat all over it, use it up, then just toss it in the basket and they'll wash it for you. Done. There's mostly families that come here, but the kids are well behaved and aren't all crazy running down the halls. The main gym doesn't even allow the young ones without an adult. I'm also aware of some circus training that goes on, but I have yet to see a clown. read more

Having been involved with the Great Y Circus as a circus parent for 7 years and a participant for four of those seven, I would be remiss in admitting my prejudice toward this organization. This truly is a family, both in atmosphere as well as culture. And let's not forget Camp Edwards as well as the partnerships with the Highland and San Bernardino YMCA in addition to the legal aid services available. Yes, membership can be a bit on the pricey side, but when you consider the benefits received in addition to the potential for financial aid to offset program costs, this truly is a gem in the Crown Jewel of the Inland Empire. The Y does great things for families and disabled. On Friday nights they have basketball tournaments for different levels of disabled adults and its a really awesome thing to watch them have so much fun. They also have a circus training at this one which is really neat. read more

The y is a great place and all but I can't flipping enjoy it ever just because of the age restrictions I had to miss several games/practices just because my parents can't make it because they have to make a living for our family. My dad is a truck driver so he is always out of town my stepmom either was to work/errands or tend to her small business so I myself have to walk every time I go to the y. I might not even go at this point bc it's just wasting time/money and right now we are broke I am also 14 years old about to turn 15 and I make sure I mind my own business and be respectful to the people and the staff that work there I am also pretty good friends with two of the workers their and they think that some of the rules are dumb and sometimes it costs us a game because we don't have enough players on our team so it would be very much appreciated to at least let us in to practice and right after u can kick us out its way better than to make people waste money on an overpriced membership and still expect to be happy and respectful afterward. read more
