First of all, there are two places in the property; the Tavern and 5 Fields pizza and beer. We dined at the Tavern. GORGEOUS garden lining the old farmhouse! We went in and were seated inside right away. As it was almost 100 today it was ideal seating. The decore is well.... different. Where we sat was a truck grill from 1928, and there was more of a sports motiff. (If you go and sit in the same room, let me know if you can spot the crooked pic!) Once again, my curse at remembering names of the servers has hit again which is a real sham because she was beyond AWESOME. She was VERY patient with my extremely frustrating mum which was nice. We both got this truly genius idea of an appetizer to start; a veggie boat with a ranch style dressing. Omg it was perfect. Warm day, cruciferous veggies, ice cold drinks. Heaven. Next came the burgers, she got the Tavern burger, I got the Charles City burger. The Tavern has cheddar cheese and bacon, the Charles City has bree cheese and this creamy mojo ajo aoli along with fried shallots....there is probably more but all I know is that I feel like an idiot never having triple creme bree on a burger before. I have to take a moment to also inform you that they make the BEST Cosmo outside of NYC. Perfectly blended and chilled, and just strong enough to celebrate a Friday night. Yowza! One.more thing. They tempted me with a scoop of their home made butter pecan ice cream. I just want to move in and become one with this place it was so good. I haven't had butter pecan this good in 50 years!! There was so much going on in the best way. They had a dog adoption event happening outside while we were there, which added such a fun, community-driven vibe. Tables are routinely "claimed" with food and personal items even when nobody is sitting there, and seats are seemingly reserved for people who aren't even present. As a paying customer, it's frustrating to walk into a public business and feel like you're intruding on someone else's members-only space. The culture here has become so cliquish and inhospitable that it resembles a VFW or Lions Club more than a community brewery. Instead of being greeted by an inviting environment, newcomers are left feeling like outsiders who don't belong. What's especially telling is that this reputation apparently extends beyond this brewery. I've spoken with patrons and employees at other local breweries who immediately knew which place I was talking about and laughed knowingly about the "regulars running the place" and the unwelcoming atmosphere they've created. Breweries thrive when they foster community and make everyone feel welcome. Unfortunately, this one seems to have allowed a small group of regulars to dominate the space and dictate the culture, creating an environment that discourages new and returning customers alike.

There is a lot of free parking out front. There are indoor seats available, but I believe inside and the patio are only for full service. Although on both times of my visits we have eaten outside but the inside is really nice and cool inside on hot day like today was. One last thing - reservations. We made a request for the outside patio and we got exactly what we wanted. We are also glad we made reservations because we would not have been outside without them today. What I didn't expect was the drink to still come in a martini glass just with ice tossed in. Because of that the waitress had it all down her arm dripping on the floor. I felt bad for her. The martini itself though was delicious. After I got the mint to be which was a water min mojito. It was delicious! Very sweet but not in an overpowering way. My mom got the Bahama mama which was just okay. The guys really enjoyed their beers. Now for food we started with the pretzel with beer cheese. The cheese costs an extra $3 which isn't a problem but the small ramekin it comes in was disappointing. There wasn't even enough for the pretzel... but it was delicious. Next we got the garlic sauce pizza with the potatoes, I can't remember the name. It was delicious and a good size. Lastly we got the brownie sundae which was also very good. The brownie was the star, being fudgey but also having big yummy chocolate chips. Definitely worth it. Over all I would like to go back and try it again.
