Stopped by Trojan Grill on a Monday night and the place was totally dead, which honestly made for a nice quiet dinner. The service was really good -- friendly, attentive, and we never had to wait on anything. We started with the Bavarian pretzel and Brussels sprouts, both solid choices. My wife got the southwest salad and I had the Fire Alarm burger with fries. Burger was messy in the best way and had a nice kick without being ridiculous. Also, shoutout to the strawberry margarita because they used real strawberries instead of sugary mixer syrup, and you could absolutely taste the difference. Now for the funniest part of the night: the crab dip. Look... it tasted good. But this was less "crab dip" and more "pimento cheese with a small hint of crab There was just the faintest hint of crab in there somewhere fighting for its life. Overall though, the place has potential. Good service, decent food, relaxed atmosphere, and with a little refinement on a few dishes, I could definitely see this becoming a regular spot. read more

Went here with my boyfriend and his brother, got seated immediately. Which was great, then the wait begins for a waitress. 20 min go by nothing. 30 min goes by and the waitress finally came out and just got our drinks, another 20 min goes by and she finally got our food order. So we've already been here for almost an hour. Then another hour goes by and our food finally arrives. I ordered a salad the dressing was wrong, by boyfriend order a steak and cheese, was made wrong and was awfully dry to the point of you dreaming you were In the Sahara desert. I called to check on some ingredients before heading to the restaurant so I could avoid serious allergies. The girl that answered the phone was very bothered by my questions. And was answering them before I could finish asking them in full. She came back within seconds with answers to my question, which tells me that there is no way she went to the back and asked the chef anything. We stopped in for a late lunch. Our first time there. We were quickly greeted by our server and had our choice of seating since it was empty. The place is kinda cool- high ceilings and lots of light. Clean- except for the bathrooms which are in horrible condition. I had the pulled pork platter with fries. Both were cold and the pork was incredibility salty and I love salt! Tom had the fried shrimp and onion rings. Both cold, rings were clearly from the bottom of the bag as they were just broken pieces. Shrimp was ok after you got through the batter. The food was fabulous but the service was atrocious! They were very understaffed so our waitress was also bartending. The worst part of the experience was the treatment by the hostess. She acted as though we were an inconvenience just being there. When I asked for my ticket because we had been waiting so long for the waitress to bring it, she was so unbelievably rude!! She never apologized for the poor service. She just kept reminding me and interrupting me with how short staffed they were. We will not go there again. The hostess should be fired!! read more

Waiting an hour for food = 2 stars. Waitress (Lexi) was great, checked on us and apologized for delay a number of times. And when food arrived, (burger & bowl meal) flavors were good. It's a good bar atmosphere. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and timely with the food and checking in on the table. The menu is pretty simple but everything tasted good. My biggest issue was that the bathrooms were in bad shape at the time I went, otherwise it's a solid spot off the highway. read more

Neat little gastropub in Quinton, VA. You can order drinks and food from your phone and they have a large outdoor area. Plenty to do with corn hole and televisions etc. We had some light fare and a couple beers. Service was really good. New place for us to go in this small town! read more

Wonderful place. I had to try their deviled eggs and crab dip and it didn't disappoint. My friends got the Mahi tacos, BLT and salmon with the grilled Brussel sprouts. Beautifully decorated inside and they have a large outdoor seating area too. Service was fast and friendly too. If you're around the New Kent area, this is a must try! Drove up from Williamsburg to Trojan Grill today. Big mistake. When we got there, we got a table right away...not many people there at all. Ordered potato skins as an appetizer only to find out after about 15 minutes that they were out of potato skins...also out of mozzerella sticks. Ok fine...onion rings will do. She brought it out and there was only 8 onion rings for $9.00. Okay, time to order. My daughter and I both wanted the steak and cheese sandwich. Oh, we are out of steak. Ok...fine, I will just have a chicken wrap. Oh, we are out of wraps! What? really?? Fine. My daughter ordered the French Dip and I got the club sandwich. My husband ordered the Colossal burger, and my daughters boyfriend ordered the chopped cheese sandwich. The French dip was mostly bread, not much meat at all. The meat was charred and didn't taste good, tasted burned. The chopped cheese sandwich was very small. The Colossal burger and BLT was supposed to have bacon...but they were out of bacon! The colossal burger was burned as well. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Trojan Grill. They offered no discount for our meal which would have been the least they could do. read more

I'd give this place a 6th star if I could. Fantastic food and service. We have been twice in a three day span. My wife has gotten the salmon both times and loved it each time. I got the foot long chili cheese and jalapeño hotdog (which was completely and ridiculously HUGE..... that's what she said) and the ribeye the second time and both were fantastic. This place is hidden gem. Definitely better than the star rating the star rating it's currently got. We went on a Wednesday night and we were sat immediately. The server was friendly and gave us honest feedback about the items on the menu we asked about. The atmosphere was laid back with simple decor, but the owners obviously know what are we doing. The food was outstanding. We got the deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were as good as homemade. For entrees we got the Cubano, the fried chicken and the fried shrimp. Portions we generous, especially considering the prices being really reasonable. The food was all fresh and flavorful. It appeared that everything we got with possible the exception of the bun for the cubano, was made in house. The fries were hand cut and can come tossed in truffle oil, which is great. An important thing to note is that the menu, ordering, and paying are done through a QR code on the table. We found it easy to use, but if you don't have a smart phone and plan to pay with cash, it may be a bit more complicated. read more

I used to love this place. I actually told my daughter's boyfriend as we were driving to New Kent it was worth the drive and it was in my top 10 restaurants in the Richmond area. What a let down! The pretzel was still great but the mozzarella "logs" were slightly fatter than a regular stick but the texture of the cheese was awful and so cold! Not worth $9 for three sticks. The cocktails were not what was described in the menu; mostly ice. My daughter's boyfriend ordered the mahi tacos which had a thin strip of fish which he said was cooked well but was smothered in pickled cabbage that overpowered the taco. Ignore the 3 1/2 star average this was absolutely the best nine dollar mushroom Swiss burger I've ever had juicy flavorful perfectly cooked. And it was a half pound hand formed burger .
