We popped in for a casual beer break, and it quickly turned into one of the highlights of the day. The space itself is gorgeous! It's open, airy and designed with a laid-back coastal vibe that fits Cape Charles perfectly. You order both beer and food inside at the counter, which keeps things easy and low- key. I went with the Pilsner, and it was exactly what I wanted, perfect after a day out exploring. Their beer list has something for everyone, whether you're into lighter options or something with a bit more depth. We didn't order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked incredible. They've got plenty of options like burgers, nachos, and other brewery favorites that definitely seemed worth trying next time. What really stood out was the atmosphere. There was so much going on in the best way. They had a dog adoption event happening outside while we were there, which added such a fun, community-driven vibe. They also host live music and other events regularly, so it feels like there's always something to check out. The outdoor space is huge and perfect if you're with a group or bringing kids. There's a fire pit, games like cornhole, and plenty of room to spread out and hang for a while. Definitely the kind of place you plan to stop at for one drink and end up staying much longer. Every town needs a little brewery to relax and blow off some steam and all too often those breweries fall below the standard of what you might want. Coming from Northern Virginia, my standard for breweries is high and Cape Charles Brewing more than meets (surpasses) that standard. Their beer is absolutely wonderful and their selection of food is delicious and perfect for beer-drinking fun. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's definitely a bit pricey for a "bar-type" setting ... and the servers weren't attentive, we had to ask where to put our trays / trash because it wasn't obvious. And the cleanliness (especially in the bathrooms) could use some work... but all in all a pretty cool place! read more

Local eats at Cape Charles brewery co. When first walking in you seat yourself and take a menu to open table. No waiters or waitresses. Food and beer is ordered at the bar. My bestie and I ordered the crab cake sandwich. The sandwiches come with fries, but I chose to sub the fries for onion rings. There is an up-charge for onion rings instead of french fries. I would have ordered an extra side of onion rings if I had prior knowledge of the up-charge. In addition, I ordered a Hefeweizen for a summer beverage. It was alright, I would have loved to sample a few beers. I am looking forward to trying a few other beers next visit. The vibe was hometown relaxation and family friendly. What a nightmare. The service is horrendous. Honestly, I've never seen a more counterintuitive system. You walk in and there are signs. Grab a menu, seat yourself, order at the bar. Easy enough, right? Wrong! Go up to the bar and wait 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge your existence. There were 4 employees sitting at the bar and one poor girl doing everything. She finally gets to us and doesn't ask if we've been there before. Kind of important when you have such a crazy system. She tells us that they will text us when the food is ready. Doesn't tell us how to pick it up, where to pick it up. So the text comes in and we go to the window, evidently you're supposed to go to a tiny little heating table instead. Didn't really matter because they gave our food to someone else! The food itself was subpar. This is clearly a brew house that happens to serve food. The fish tacos were served on tiny street taco tortillas with one small chunk of fish per tortilla. They also failed to remove all the bones from the stone fish. The burger was cold, dry, small, thin, and tasteless. The fries were cold. Definitely not worth the $40. read more

Came here for an overnight trip with my best friend. After checking out places to grab something to eat, this place looked like a nice option to have a relaxing informal dinner with a drink. They have a pretty straightforward ordering system. After looking over the menu, you pay for your food at the register, and you're given a buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready to pick up at the counter. I got a pineapple sour, which was pretty good, and a crabcake sandwich with beer battered fries. Also delicious, my crab cake was a little overdone, but I still enjoyed it. Absolutely the worst. I was embarrassed when I brought my family here for dinner. We ordered, and after waiting 20 minutes for our meals, found out that none of the fish entrees were available because all the fish was still frozen. So we ordered pretzels that were served -- you guessed it -- frozen. The crab cake sandwich one of our guests ordered was served burned. I finally ordered a burger, and when I went up to the station to retrieve the order -- because there is no table service -- saw that people who had ordered after us were being served fish. Really?! This is a family friendly brewery. They had ample seating indoor and outdoor. A nice play area for kids with a sand pit. This was my first time to Cape Charles and just my luck to get a visit in to their own brewery. So I stopped in to try their brews and for some lunch. It was mid week and not too busy. Everyone was in good spirits and the staff were friendly and helpful with the beer selections. I decided to go with the flight and my bf went with the coffee stout. We stopped here on our way home from Chincoteague. It was a beautiful November Sunday. We were greeted immediately by the nicest lady!!!! I did not drink beer because I don't like beer and I was driving. But they did have 2 wines. They have menus upon entering and you go to the bar and order. I did order some food and so did both my friends. We got 2 clam chowders and my friend got the Rockfish Tacos but on chips because she has an allergy. They were very accommodating with her allergy. We arrived in CC last week and spent a few days at the marina. Despite the summer heat, we decided to trek over to CC Brewing Company. It was absolutely worth it! As soon as we stepped inside we were greeted by a cool and inviting dining hall along with a fantastic selection of beers. Each brew we tried had its own unique flavor, perfectly crafted to refresh and satisfy after a warm day exploring the area. What truly made the visit five-star was the customer service. Chelsie and Mary were warm, attentive, and genuinely fun, adding a personal touch that elevated the whole afternoon. Being just outside town, the brewery feels like a refreshing mini-escape from the usual Cape Charles dining circuit laid-back, flavorful, and relaxing. Been going to Cape Charles Brewing Company for years now. It's very cute with good beer flights. My favorite beer is bumpkin pumpkin and they put brown sugar on the rim. The food is also tasty. The nachos are good and the pretzels with the cheese is delicious. They have an outdoor area that they expanded with picnic tables and games like connect four and chess. You order first and they will call you once your food is ready. It's a great ambience and you can bring your dog in the outside area. read more

I love this place and so glad we stopped. We were on way home from Norfolk to NJ and this was a quick stop off of our route. Delicious beer - I got the Assateague IPA and hubs got a double IPA. We had a very enjoyable stop here! The woman at the counter was very nice as we sampled a few beers before making our selection. We also ordered the nachos. We stopped in here after our original lunch plan fell through. We didn't expect much as neither of us are beer drinkers. We were pleasantly surprised by several things. We were greeted by an enthusiastic hostess, that we were pretty sure is also an owner, who gave us a brief rundown and recommended the rockfish sandwich ( this was an excellent suggestion). The bartender is also the server and was very nice and very attentive. I got the rockfish sandwich and the wife got the fish and chips which is also rockfish. Both were delicious but a warning to those who are not familiar- rockfish has a distinct flavor. It's not bad but it isn't the neutral flavor of the standard haddock that is often used in these dishes. Good news too for those that are not beer drinkers- they have a local wine by the bottle or glass and they have a cider on tap. First time we tried to go here on a Monday in July they were out of almost all the food in their menu. We kept going down the menu trying to order and the guy at the register kept apologizing that they were out. Should have just told us when we walked in! Beer and setting are great, but the food is 2 stars at best. It's clearly not made in house, and is cooked from frozen. Crab cake was like a tiny Philips crab cake you buy at the grocery store, totally overcooked to the point of being almost black, on a stale chewy role with a sad piece of lettuce and tiny slice of underripe tomato. Shrimp was fine. Soft pretzel was pale, doughy, and tasted under baked. Didn't get to try the allegedly award-winning clam chowder because they were out. Food here is legitimately mediocre. Come for the beer, get dinner elsewhere. read more

We really enjoyed this place. They had some games setup outside for the kids to play. I got the BBQ it was delicious, and the kiddos loved the chicken strips. Im not a beer drinker, but my husband enjoyed the bear. The interior was well decorated...and HUGE. The kids ordered the chicken tenders, and I got wings. The service was great. The rockfish sandy was huge and very good. I upgraded to the onion rings and they were delicious! Now the clam chowder is award winning but it hardly had any clams in it and the flavor was a little weak. The drunken shrimp was not that great either. Had to go ask for more garlic and some old bay to give it more flavor Beers were on a 5 star level and my husband enjoyed his two tasting flights and it gave him a good sense of the beers they make. The food here surprised me with how good it was. We came intending to get flights and snacks, and stayed nearly two hours trying beers and having a meal. The fries are so well seasoned (love that Old Bay!) and the onion rings are seriously some of the best I've had in awhile. The portions are more than enough to share, and we were a group of seven adults. The meals were great too, and their order system allows you to sit at the table and receive a text when its ready so you don't miss any time at the table. The Smith Island Cake though - amazing. I hadn't had one in so long and they brought back the classic flavor I remembered. The beer was excellent as well. We got flights to try the maximum number of beers and ended up really enjoying them all. The Helles was a favorite! Make sure you grab your full glass with the souvenir one to take home. My brother was visiting from out of town and being an avid craft beer drinker, I knew I wanted to take him to Cape Charles Brewing. This was a first visit for me here as well. The brewery itself is easy to find, right as you drive into Cape Charles. The decor was cute, I especially loved the giant crab on the wall behind the bar. The beers were fantastic. We also got two different flavors of wings and they were good sized and sauced well. The staff was friendly and made great suggestions on beers to try. Very awesome visit! We checked in and was addressed right away. You place your purchase in line and they give you a pager. Once it goes off it let's you know your food is available for pickup. Which is a table nearby. We purchased the Mai Mai fish taco which was very good! We decided to do flights. I love flights because I can taste a variety of beer and not feel overloaded. Great variety! I was excited to try the Blood Orange and was not disappointed. We also got a beer flight to try a few others, however, none of them truly stood out for me. Food wise we had the fish tacos and a cobb salad. While you may think a salad is simple, I was really impressed by both how it was put together and how it tasted. The fish tacos were solid as well. I imagine in non-covid times, the space they have available is heavily used. There is plenty of space to spread out and relax. The view isn't bad and the staff is friendly.
