We ordered delivery from here and the food was just ok. We started with the hot and sour soup and the wonton soup. The hot and sour soup was very good, but the wonton soup was just ok. I liked how the wonton wrappers were thin but the soup didn't have a great taste and the overall taste of the wontons were just ok. We also ordered the chicken and broccoli which was pretty good. This place is kinda cute. A little hole in the wall. The menu looks yummy with the choices they have. A mix of Asian type food. Was a bit disappointed in my tea order. I order honey dew green tea. Just the regular tea hot. Turns out they put syrup in the tea so it just tastes like a hot sugary drink which is ok but not what I ordered. Popped in here to get bubble tea, overall extremely disappointed with the service. Went in on a Wednesday around lunch time, not busy at all, pretty sure only the staff was in the restaurant. The woman who was supposed to be at the front table was sitting down, laughing with another person who I believed worked there. She waited 2 minutes, finishing her conversation before greeting me. I told her I wanted to get a large Thai bubble tea to go. She huffed when I said to go then told me how much it was. I pulled out my card and she rudely said "$10 minimum on credit cards, want me to cancel the order?" I said no, it's okay I have cash and gave her cash. She went back to make the tea. Brought it out to me, i asked if i could have a straw, she rolled her eyes and went back to the back for one. The tea was good, not amazing but definitely a good value for the price. I know 2 stars seems harsh, but I was just so turned off by how the woman was behaving, like it was an inconvenience to serve me. The tea was good but not good enough to come back for this service. On a rainy Halloween night, we decided to have dinner at 5 spice though we are kinda skeptical because of bad reviews . We were seated promptly, no one was there but us and another couple. Plates and water were served promptly. Place is small and has small tables. Our server was very nice and we found out from her that management took over 3 years ago. Food we ordered: Soup dumplings. I am from Queens NY so I have been to several soup dumpling places but this place so far has the best dumpling soup. Yeah, bit more money however they are delicious ( trust me !). I think Shanghai version. Whatever.. lol. Eggplant with chicken. I don't order this because wherever I go, this entree is always oily. But not at 5 spice. Hubby likes this entree regardless but he likes it better if not too oily and 5 spice prepared it spot on. Crispy fish with pine nuts. This is a a similar version of sweet and sour fish. So if you like sweet and sour sauce, you will enjoy this. Bubble tea- Lychee with milk and tapioca. The highlight of my meal. The milk tea is flavored by lychee syrup not lychee powder. Well, i thought 5 Spice was a restaurant. It kinda was but then it wasnt. When i called for a reservation at 6 i was told too crowded, so i asked for 700 and it was good. We arrived at 645 and there was only 1 table eating. There were only 4 tables in the place. It really was a take out place. Well sort of....it had NO AMBIANCE! Bubble Tea!!! I've been searching for bubble tea since returning from Canada which is where my fascination with it began so when I saw the reviews for 5-spice on Yelp, I knew I had to visit. I started with scallion pancakes (rated 10!) To date I had yet to find a restaurant that was able to make them so crisp without oil residue until today. They were crispy, light, and delicious. When ordering from the lunch menu, your given the option of salad or soup. I chose the salad, (Rated 7.5), dressing just a little too thick for my taste but nonetheless tasty. For my meal, I ordered tofu (on spicy side) with mixed vegetables and brown rice (rated 10!). This was cooked to perfection. The flavors were perfect, texture of the vegetables perfect, and extra kudos when tofu is done to perfection and in this case it was. Our waitress was great. Knowledgeable about flavors. I ordered Siracha to spice up my food and she also brought me a side of the chili flakes/oil (very yummy) and offered other options as well. It's nice to know they deliver (with a minimum of $25) because I will be ordering since I work nearby. I will also be popping in simply for the bubble tea when I'm nearby. I tried the mango and the mango passion fruit and I was partial to the mango passion fruit. When in town most definitely give this venue a try, it's not fancy, it's flavorful. read more

My boyfriend took me there for dinner after a good hike nearby. The place is quite hidden, it took us a while to find. Staffs are friendly, and the internal decor is very unique, unlike those Chinese American takeout restaurants.We ordered soup dumpling (小笼汤包) and Indian pancake as the appetizers. The soup dumpling order came with four super soupy flavourful soup dumplings (sorry, need to wipe my mouth, watering again), and one small well crispy pancake. Really wish they can offer two pancakes instead of one, the price is a bit pricey for one small pancake.For the main courses. we had crispy orange beef and crispy pine nut fish. The sauces tasted no different than General Tso sauce(and trust me, they probably did), too sweet for my taste but my boyfriend is very pleased with it. There is lots improvement needed for bubble tea as the art of bubble team is not as simple as just blending flavor power and water together. Went here with a group of 4 plus a baby on Christmas Day. We had the coconut shrimp and gyoza to start. I thought the shrimp were over cooked and nothing special but really liked the gyoza. We had pork fried rice which was made really well and I had the honey walnut shrimp which were fried to perfection and delicious. They needed more of the sauce that comes with it but it was still wonderful. I hear the orange chicken was phenomenal. The service was really good and super friendly but we were the only guests in the restaurant. My only criticism would be that they should give you some hard noodles and sauce to start on the table. We ate pancakes and it was good, unfortunately we found a piece of wire inside hot and sour soup.which they use for dish scraping or clean. My wife almost ate but she found something inside her throat. We asked the server to cancel rest of food which I hear they are cooking on the stove, we left immediately not finishing rest of the food,the server and manager apologized and did not charge the food and soup we ate. We like to go out and try new places but this is very scary and dangerous, it can kill you. The manager must supervised the restaurant and serve the customers in safest way. My boyfriend and I have ordered takeout from here a few times. Definitely not your average "Chinese food" restaurant. While yes they have some classics such as General Tso, sesame chicken, lo mein, etc. They also have more authentic foods (dumplings, noodles, and teas). I always order the soup dumplings, and they're so good! The wontons are great too. Next time, we plan on dining in! This little place is hidden, but I urge you to give it a shot. read more

This place keeps going downhill. I'm very disappointed with that because it's had so much change over it seems in the last several years. I came here for dinner with my husband and also a friend in July and was truly disappointed both times. I ordered a Thai iced tea the first time without boba. She brought me out a frozen, powder made version that's used for the boba smoothies. I asked in in advance if it was made without powder and she said yes but after seeing it and tasting it I knew it had been. She came back a couple minutes later saying she had been mistaken it was made with powder and asked if I still wanted it to which I said I'd prefer just some hot tea. So I ordered hot jasmine tea and they clearly had let the tea steep for way too long that it was so over aromatic it was like drinking perfume. It was truly awful. Basically undrinkable. My husband could hardly muster the strength to drink it. I ordered the pan friend noodles because when I first had them here last year they were really delicious. But I was disappointed when I ordered it with my husband because the sauce was not creamy but runny like water. There were hardly any noodles and because of the consistency of the sauce, the noodles became soggy super quickly. There were wayyyyy too many vegetables and hardly enough seafood. The second time I ordered I was with a friend who I hadn't seen in ten years. We told the waitress we wanted some time to just catch up before ordering. FYI we were the only ones in the restaurant. She kept coming over every five minutes to interrupt us and ask if we were ready yet to which we'd say no we would flag her down when we were since she wasn't that far away from our table at the hostess desk. Yet she still kept coming over!!!! We both ordered sodas, my friend ordered general two chicken I believe and I decided to give the pan friend noodles another go thinking maybe the other time I came with my husband was an off day. I asked if this time they could also accommodate giving me extra noodles (which is the cheapest part of the whole damn meal). She told me no I'd have to order a whole other dish of it if I wanted more noodles. LOLOLOL wut?!? Anyway I said I'd just take one order, it came out exactly the same, funny sauce, over abundance of vegetables, especially snow peas which don't go with the dish well at all, at least just give me more broccoli. I ate part of it and threw the rest out. If I want authentic Asian I'm just going to have to go into NYC and eat there because this does not cut it. read more

Five Spice is superb. We've ordered takeout twice and I can't wait to order it again soon! I'm impressed by their generous portion size, willingness to take special orders, and the quality of their vegetarian dishes. We've ordered the Malaysian curry and noodles. Not having had Malaysian food before, it was a pleasant surprise. The curry was coconut-based with a gentle heat, not quite as powerful as a Thai red curry. The noodles were like a more savory version of pad see ew. We also had the basil sauce and the pad Thai, which were also very tasty. First, there's a bright blue bug zapper in the kitchen near where the servers get/prep the food. You hear it "zapping" constantly. You know why when you see gnats and flies even throughout the deep freeze of winter, which means filth & standing water or moisture in the kitchen. Second, the portions are small considering the price. And since half the plate is filled with corn starch soy sauce, it's not worth it. Third, it's so dark inside and the wait staff look miserable. The place needs a health code review and new management. Oh, and its Americanized Chinese food. Not one Chinese broccoli in sight. read more

Rude service. Walked in, and two young ladies were having a conversation behind the counter. I stood there, patiently, for about 2 minutes, watching them and listening to their conversation. Finally, having come to the place to eat something and not listen to two strangers' insipid rambling, I said "Excuse me, can I see a menu?" The two ladies looked uncertainly at me. "Menu?" I repeated, not sure if there was a language barrier and secretly hoping against hope that the such a word was in the lexicon of these two people who were (ostensibly) working in a restaurant. I suppose it was my lucky day, because one of them figured out what I wanted, and handed me a menu - and then went right back to their conversation. I ordered a bubble tea, just because that was simple and I figured it couldn't be messed up. They brought me the tea a few minutes later, to go, and handed me a bill for two teas. I inquired as to if they actually witnessed me (or anyone else - the place was empty) receiving 2 teas and why I was being billed for it. I explained I only wanted to be billed for the one tea. This was apparently too difficult to understand. I started to laugh, and realizing that I was about to get frustrated or angry, put on a big smile, and just walked out.
