Great BBQ meat choices, fantastic sides, huge servings! Couldn't ask for better than this!

People are nice but food is mediocre at best. Brisket was dry (even though I supposedly got the marbled) and lacked flavor. The pulled pork on the other hand was pretty fatty, but had better flavor. Creamed corn did not have the flour cooked out so it had that raw flour taste. I personally didn't like any of the sauces- they all had a weird after taste, but the large selection was nice and I don't tend to use a lot of sauce anyway. Don't think I'll be back, but this might hit the spot for some. Definitely not Texas style BBQ. read more

The BBQ here is top notch. Not sure I have BBQ this good. However, the line was ridiculously long and it took forever for us to be able to order our food. They had one employee prepping, one getting the sides, and one cashier. You had to tell across the large plexiglass so they could even hear you. My suggestion is if you have a product that is so delicious and you can't keep up with it, hire some servers and let your patrons sit at a table with their party and visit. Standing in a line with everyone scrunched in a tiny area trying to order is ridiculous. Next time want yummy BBQ, we will order ahead and get it to go. read more

Super yummy BBQ! I've tried sever different dishes and was never disappointed. They catered one of our office events too and that was very good, went smooth and the staff was friendly. Their location isn't the best and parking is a pain but worth the effort. read more

We got the special which came with 1 lb of meat and 2 sides. We got 1/2 lb brisket, 1/4 lb pork, 1/4 lb chicken. For sides: cole slaw and baked beans. The sides were delicious. The sweet BBQ sauce was perfect. The pork was our favorite, the brisket and chicken were good but not great. They were kinda dry, could have been juicier. There are much better bbq places in Lindon and Orem and this is not one of them. I ordered a chicken sandwich and was disappointed. The meat was dry and didn't even taste good and it came on a white bun. The salad was a joke. Don't waste your time. read more

This place is really solid. I have not felt that this place is the be all of BBQ however it does take its place when competing with it's surrounding competitors. I've had each dish on the menu and they were fine, however what stood out is their large amounts of sauces. Be that as it may, good BBQ should not have to depend on the sauce to really stand out. The place is usually pretty packed since a lot of people enjoy the food there. I also enjoyed the food and will continue to go as often as I can. Went for lunch today, waited 50 minutes to order and get my food, which is not the best start. Yes, I didn't get there till 12:15, but I've been in lines twice as long at two other local BBQ joints and still had food within 15-20 minutes. Had some of the BBQ chicken, pork, and brisket. From the outside, this looks like a bbq road house that has been there forever. Inside, blues and zydeco are playing over the speakers, checkerboard table cloths and a great southern color scheme got us instantly in the mood for some good bbq. We had the brisket and the pulled pork sandwich, each with two sides. The beans, and the mac a cheese were both good, but the cole slaw was great! My brisket was tender, flavorful, crusted with a dry rub and went well with their homemade bbq sauces (I really like the "Not Too Hot Sauce"). The pork sandwich was very good. Our whole meal with drinks was just over $20. Great meal, great value! I'll be back next time I am in Utah! read more

5 Star BBQ rules. Brisket sandwhich with seasoned mashed potatoes is my favorite. If you like real BBQ you need to try this place.

You can have bad service, or bad food...not both. Mashed potatoes are out of a box, Mac and cheese is marginal at best, "garlic bread" is sandwich bread put onto a fry pan and left there too long with very little flavor. I would rate the ribs, sausage, turkey, and other sides, but there were out - 1 hour after they opened, on a Friday. Service is horrible. Untrained, slow, and overall not suited for the restaurant business. Pro's....meat was cooked to correct temperature, coke mix was good. read more

The applesauce is amazing, I actually LIKED the cole slaw (what??) and most the sauces (yup, I usually don't like bbq sauces). I had the pulled pork and loved it. Back in the day, when we would drive up to Geneva, their was a little house across the street that I thought was a brothel. Well Brian received a gift certificate for 5 star BBQ, even though I was apprehensive and a little bit nervous because I felt this was a little bit more sketchy than Aurther Bryant's in Kansas City. But as we entered this scary restaurant, I was greeted by the most adorable man who promptly yelled at us what we wanted, and then helped us pick out our meat. We just enjoyed the most amazing brisket! The pork was also delish, the meat was smoked to perfection with the deepest smoke ring. We opted for creamed corn and beans, both of which we will be back for, (and I hate beans and creamed corn) well done 5 star BBQ, way to bring a real BBQ place to Utah! read more

It must've been a bad day. That's the only explanation I can figure based on the wonderful reviews given by others. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. I had both the pulled pork and the brisket. Both were especially dry. For sides, I tried the Mac and Cheese, which was more like mac and cream sauce than cheese, and the herb potatoes, which I didn't care for and didn't finish. When we left, I wanted to go somewhere else to eat. Not because of the portions, which were good size, but because I didn't care for the food and wanted something substantial to fill me. There are two reasons I didn't get Five Star BBQ a one star experience: 1) The staff was friendly and helpful and 2) I tried the pumpkin cake. In my opinion, the pumpkin cake was the only good thing on my plate. I would probably give them a second chance. So many people can't be wrong. Perhaps during a mid-week lunch when everything is hot and juicy would be best. It will be a while. read more

I've been here four times, with both my wife and work associates. Twice it has been tremendous, once it was fairly mediocre, and my most recent visit gave me easily the worst plate of BBQ I have ever tasted in my life. Truly horrific. And for those who may be wondering what made the BBQ so bad - oh, I'll tell ya. It seemed as though, rather than cooking the brisket and ribs slow for several hours, they turned the oven/cooker/smoker on high and let the heat do the talkin'. This caused the meet to be very tough, very dry, and to leave the fat wholly unrendered. It was the antithesis of fall-off-the-bone tender. The macaroni and corn were good, though perhaps a bit more bland than in times past. But just to be clear, I've had my best plate of BBQ in Utah at this exact same restaurant. The first and third times I came here the meat was as tender and succulent as you could hope for outside the great state of Texas. The sauces were great. The sides - sublime. In short, Five Star BBQ has some major quality control issues. Maybe you'll come on a great day and walk away happy; maybe you'll come on a day like today, wondering why you didn't just hit up Taco Bell. Good luck. read more

Really good food. The sides were really good especially the creamed corn. Probably has the best sides of the local BBQ places. I had the Beef Brisket and it was a little dry to me. My wife had the pulled pork and it was also a little dry. Really feels like you are having a meal at grandma's house. Sauce was good. The ambiance was good but if the moved to a different place and cleaned up a little it would make the dining experience better. read more
