First time riding in a helicopter, and overall it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Our pilot got us up in the air and back down safely, and we were able to take in some incredible views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding area. That said, the views weren't dramatically different from what you might see flying over Vegas in an airplane. The helicopter definitely gives you a closer and more unique perspective, but I wouldn't say it completely blew me away. Was it worth it? I'd say yes, it's definitely worth trying at least once, especially if you've never been on a helicopter before. However, the views of Vegas themselves were a bit underwhelming for me. Maybe I've just been to Vegas too many times, but the scenery didn't have the same wow factor that others might experience on their first visit. My friend and I had very poor seats with almost no real view, which defeats the whole point of a scenic helicopter tour. Even worse, one person in our group was not even allowed onto the helicopter, and the company still did not properly refund that passenger Poor organization, poor seating, and poor customer service. The helicopter can accommodate 6 people (7 including the pilot) - 2 in front and 4 in the back. We booked it for 6:30 pm on a Thursday and got the evening view of Las Vegas strip. Yes definitely choose evening as Vegas strip is very beautiful at night with the lights on. Check in was easy. They ask for your Drivers license and they weigh you as well. My family and I were wanting to do a helicopter tour. I saw a deal available on Groupon and it didn't specify if it was per person or group. I went directly to their website and the price was a lot lower than Groupons price so I decided to call to double check. I spoke with Michelle and asked how many people was the Groupon deal for. I had her on speaker because it was my family and I who wanted to book so I wanted them to hear as well. Which Michelle then replied "well what do you think?!" In a very rude and sarcastic way. I paused because I was such in shock with the way she responded. I said "ma'am I don't know, that's why I'm calling". And again in her rude tone said "yes, it's per person" like I'm such an idiot who should have known this information. It was really disgusting honestly. I can't overstate the relaxation and peace I experienced that caused me to fall asleep -- twice. When I told the pilot I was shocked I had so much trouble staying awake, she proudly said she'd been known to put people to sleep - smooth ride. Always wanted to see the Grand Canyon from the air so I booked a tour through 5 Star. It was easy to make the reservation over the phone and find time slot that worked for me. Once booked I got a confirmation call three days before to set up my pick up location. They arranged to have me picked up directly from my hotel. This is dependent on how far your hotel is from the hangar so make sure to confirm they can pick you up before making a reservation. On the morning of my flight I was picked up from the hotel I was staying at off the main Vegas strip. The shuttle van was a little late due to the construction for the F1 races coming to town. It still got me there in enough time for my flight though I was hurried through the process. After confirming and making any payment due they had everyone watch a safety video. They did provide water and encouraged you not to take any loose items on the flight. After the video was complete the separated everybody into three groups. Each group then went with a pilot to received further instruction. The whole process didn't take long and we were in the air. The flight was about a hour and a half. We got to see all the sights. We went over the strip, by Lake Meade, Hoover Damn, then through the Grand Canyon. The views were breathtakingly stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The pilot was also the tour guide pointing out major attractions and gave us interesting facts along the way. After the flight concluded they provided transportation back to everyone's hotels. It was a great experience and I highly recommend anyone interested to take rheumatologist opportunity to do it at least once. read more

THE MOST AMAZING SHUTTLE DRIVER IN LAS VEGAS !! A few days ago, we booked a 5 Star Helicopter tour in Las Vegas. First off, let me say . . . Our driver, "DOC" was the most exceptional shuttle driver, my husband and I have ever met in the 20 + years of living Las Vegas. We seem to keep running into him when we need a driver, LOL. (He was our wedding Limo Driver, back in 2005). He was polite, personable, humble and most of all, professional ! Incredibly, he remembered all the passengers names and spoke to each of us and made us feel at ease, not knowing what to expect from our upcoming flight. "DOC" also recommended various places to visit, and several restaurant choices available in Sin City. We were very taken back by how careful of a driver, "Doc' was during our ride. The 7 other passengers also mentioned how it was like riding in a limo, the way he smoothly switched lanes, accelerated, and stopped the large stretch van. I can't ever remember a driver apologizing for gently going over speed bumps on the various properties. I found the pilot ryan schorndorf to be unprofessional and rude. When my 6 year old began to feel motion sickness, he became irritated and very short with him. After the flight I saw him sniggering with a fellow pilot, while pointing at my son. I was very excited for the ride but the ride was very disappointing. Firstly they let us wait for an hour after the scheduled time. Then we were given a seat randomly. I was unfortunate to get a seat behind pilot where there was no view. Imagine if strip is on your left inwas on the right side which had no view. We got there at 1 hour before out flight time, which they do tell you to he there 30 minutes beforehand. They briefed us with safety procedures and protocols, I was quite nervous when it was time to fly, but once we were in the air, it wasn't too intimidating. The pilot was amazing, the ride was smooth, the views beautiful and an overall excellent way to spend my 50th birthday. The only negatives: - it was advertised as 4.5 hours when we booked. It was more like 3 hours from liftoff to landing back at the heliport, including the stop at the canyon. - my seat was behind the pilot so it was hard to get great pics and views not as good as the rest of the seats. Review would be higher if the flight duration was what was advertised online. Flight and pilot were great but it felt like it was cattle being pushed through a kill farm and I mean this because everything was so fast, I felt that the check in process and pre flight seminar was longer that the actual flight itself. This was our second time doing a helicopter tour of the strip. The first time we used Maverick. I booked 5 Star this time because it was available for our times. First, we got a text saying to be at the hotel across the way Aria, at 9:15. We were supposed to be picked up at the Vdara. Our cab dropped us off a little way away, so we started walking. The bus driver then calls us at 9pm asking where we are? We told him we were on our way. He called again at 9:05 and was annoyed. We didn't even need to be there until 9:15 so why is he rushing us? We got there at 9:10, and he looked mad! Then they rush us to the airport. Our flight is supposed to be at 9:45. We got there early, got our champagne, our photos, then sat. And sat. And sat. We didn't get on our helicopter until 10:30. The other group across from us was falling asleep, they had been there for 2 hours waiting! The pilot was so nice, the crew was so nice, the flight was a lot of fun. The rude driver and the waiting around for so long was a negative. From the beginning of being picked up by them in a Mercedes Benz passenger van to the end of the whole experience was great! Sadly I didn't get any names of the drivers, employees and pilot. But each of them had good customer service. The location was very clean & we were offered water. Honestly I was a bit nervous to ride the helicopter but the ride was smooth and comfortable. When I purchased the ticket it said 10-12 mins fly over the strip but it was a 15 min ride. Our pilot did such a good job of flying us around the strip. I highly recommend it! In order to fit in the Grand Canyon in our 8-day road trip, we decided to take a helicopter ride from Vegas - best decision we ever made. We cannot rate 5 Star Helicopter enough from the prompt, smooth shuttle pick-up at our hotel (Venetian) to the easy check-in and safety instructions. What made the trip most enjoyable was our wonderful pilot, Kristina (unfortunately, cannot remember her last name), who was friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. While the flight along the west rim of the Grand Canyon was spectacular, the ride to and from is just as eye-catching, from aerial views of the strip, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River, etc. The views are breathtaking and plenty of opportunity for photos and video. Our pilot played music during the flight, which included the very apt "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins (famous from Top Gun films). We opted for the package including a drop off and shuttle to Eagle Point, which includes gift shop, eatery, and Skywalk.
