We had some friends in town from Australia and the most important thing they wanted to experience was a helicopter ride over the strip at night. I believe that Maverick is the most popular company and biggest here in town. They have a really nice setup and make you feel like a VIP before, during, and after your flight. We took a very quick ride that lasted about 12 minutes and flew down the very bright Las Vegas Strip. It's been years since I was in a helicopter and forgot how fun it is. Prices with taxes and fees for four were just over $500. Not the cheapest in town but they do have the best safety record. The beginning of my birthday weekend in Vegas, started off with a surprise helicopter ride around the city with my girlfriend. Once we arrived at Mavericks we went inside and checked in at the front desk. The staff while getting us set had us get on their scales with everything we were going to be carrying. So that the helicopters could have a proper accounted total weight, to get carried on our specific helicopters. Being in the military we'd have to do this with military aircraft like cargo planes but not ever with military helicopters; but it makes sense. We waited maybe 20 minutes or so, before our group was called to meet up with our pilot who confirmed we w were all there. And once gathered we escorted out to our helicopter where we were asked not to take personal pictures. While I get it as the business wants to make money off of selling pictures at the end of the trip. Some people adhere to the rules, while I saw others still taking pictures, which naturally would want you to take your own as well. But we didn't to not cause any issues, and possibly be removed from the flight; but ultimatnothing happend to those who did take their own photos. Our pilot when over the rules for safety when boarding the helicopter and how to buckle ourselves in, and he chose particular people to sit up front (this will be importantly later). And eventually we were off, and in flight around the Vegas strip and surrounding area. The overall flight was pretty cool, and lasted maybe 15 minutes and then we were back at the Tarmac/flight line. Before leaving our helicopter pilot mentioned it was the man or woman's birthday who was siting up front, and said happy birthday to them. And once off the helicopter, we each as individual couple took our personal photos which we would eventually be able to look at in the souvenir area. Once inside various groups in in the photos area, eother buying their individual image, and or looking through their on the display and deciding on what souvenirs version they wanted or if they wanted their images at all. When it was our turn we opted for just the photo in the standard foldable cardboard display. And inquired with a staff member about how we could've sat up front with the pilot for our flight. As our pilot noted it was the man or woman sitting up fronts birthday. And my girlfriend booked the flight as a surprise birthday experience for me, and if she'd known they do special things like that for people. She would've mentioned it. The lady at the cou ter said they don't have a specific seating arrangement, but some people will give the pilot or staff some cash in advance. To get preferred seating up front. Wish we would've known that so we could've maybe sat up front, or at least had the opportunity to decide if we wanted to do that. Since my girlfriend specifically chose that tour as a surprise birthday experience. Note: A separate review on another platform was left about that the tipping thing, and we were told they don't do that. And while that may not be policy, that is NOT what we were told by the staff member we asked, when we inqured about how they chose seating. Instead of seating us in the front for the views, the pilot decided to put us in the back corner, completely out of sight. We went at night for helicopter ride. They give you welcome alcohol drink. I did not drink it since I don't usually drink but that was nice gesture. When we got inside the helicopter, it was so beautiful with all the lights with high buildings. An nice city view~ it did feel bit tight to get in. We rode it in the front next to pilot and older couple on the back seat. Once ride was over, pilot escorted me out. We did enjoy our ride since my husband was in middle of training to be pilot. I'm leaving this review on Thanksgiving, while co-incidentally watching Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I only mention that fact because I was in a similar position ( to the characters in the movie ) recently, and Maverick Helicopters really came through. I never considered for one moment that the weather on Catalina would be so bad that all boat service would be cancelled. After a while of trying to find other ways out, I discovered Maverick. The real surprise is how easy they made it. I'm used to ridiculous levels of paperwork and bureaucracy so I was in disbelief that booking with Maverick was so simple. I kept waiting for the catch where something else goes wrong but no, it was textbook simple and I thank Maverick management for that. We showed up a couple of hours early and to my surprise, our booking agent Grant was able to accommodate us for an even sooner trip out. We appreciated Grant showing us the different helicopters, talking briefly about their history and the company's use of them. The flight was only 15 minutes back to Long Beach as opposed to the 90 minute ( unavailable ) boat ride, so I'll probably book with Maverick again. Typically I park in Dana Point where Maverick service isn't available but I might risk the 405 just to get to them. ( But seriously Maverick, if you ever wanted to open an office in Dana Point or even Oceanside, I'm all with it. ) read more

normally do not leave negative reviews, but after spending around $400 on what was supposed to be a very special birthday experience, I honestly feel other customers deserve to understand what happened. We had a helicopter reservation from Catalina Island to Long Beach and, before arriving, we communicated in advance that we were running slightly behind, I clearly said three min max, I am on my way and they agreed. We arrived only two minutes after the scheduled time and the helicopter was still physically on the ground when we got there, with staff present and the flight clearly not gone yet. What made the experience so disappointing was not simply the policy itself, but the complete lack of professional judgment, leadership, flexibility, or genuine care for the customer experience. There was no real attempt to assess the situation, no effort to problem-solve, and no willingness to offer a reasonable accommodation despite the circumstances, the prior communication, and the fact that the service had already been fully paid. Instead, the only solution repeatedly pushed on us was to spend another approximately $400 to purchase a completely new flight. That is what made the situation feel unreasonable. Not because we expected special treatment, but because when customers communicate ahead of time, arrive only minutes late, and the helicopter is literally still there, most people would expect at least some level of discretion, communication, or customer care. Good service is not only about enforcing rules mechanically. It is also about judgment, professionalism, leadership, and the ability to handle situations reasonably. Would absolutely recommend going for a helicopter ride in Vegas. It was easy to arrange and they offer pick up from the hotel on the Strip. I went with the Neon and Nature package which took you to Red Rock for a wonderful scenic view and we flew back to see the Strip around sunset. The ride was smooth and Gunnar was our pilot. He was informative and polite. I enjoyed the 30 minutes of the view and quiet time when we landed at Red Rock and the champagne toast was lovely. Depending on the season, I would recommend weather appropriate clothes and closed toe shoes as you are in rocky areas and getting in and out of a helicopter. Avoid high heels and sandals. They look cute, but your pictures are waist up. I saw some people with dresses, but they were not flowy. Do not wear loose or flowy clothes and try not to carry bags because it's a small space and seatbelts have no room for extra carry ons. White or bright color clothing reflects light so it does not look good in pictures. Wear darker shades or neutral colors if possible. Other than that, follow the safety rules and you will have a wonderful time. read more

We booked the Wind Dancer tour of the Grand Canyon, on Saturday. It was the most amazing experience. Our pilot, David was excellent and did a great job with navigating our helicopter and giving us a beautiful tour. We loved the music that was incorporated with our flight. Landing in the Grand Canyon for snacks and champagne was the most memorable. I highly recommend this tour. It's exhilarating and yet peaceful at the same time. The best way to see the Grand Canyon in all its glory. The only negative was, when I checked in on Yelp, I was offered a $10 off coupon on a $50 purchase. So we decided to buy a few things that added up to over $50. When we went to check out, I showed the coupon. The staff looked at me as if they were seeing this coupon for the first time. We wasted a good 15 minutes because the staff had no clue how to give this discount and then just came up with an excuse that the coupon was expired. There was absolutely no expiration date on this offer. Don't post a coupon on your Yelp page if you have no intention of honoring it. This company is downright unreliable. They will cancel or shuffle your flight at the last minute under vague excuses like "OPERATIONAL REASONS." In my case, they waited until 8:40 p.m. the night before my scheduled birthday night flight in Las Vegas to inform me that my chosen time was no longer available. The "closest option" was one hour earlier, which forced me to completely rearrange my dinner and show reservations. I ended up having to cancel KA, one of the highlights of my day. What makes this worse is how late they chose to contact me. By dumping the problem on me the night before and right before closing, they left me scrambling to juggle my birthday plans with almost no time to coordinate with other reservations. Then they clocked out, leaving the situation unresolved until the next day. Why should a guest be put through this circus just because the company can't manage its schedule? On the day of the flight, I even saw flights still operating 30 minutes before my original time--the very slot they claimed was "unavailable." When I asked about this earlier via text, they ignored the question completely. Zero transparency, zero accountability. The photo department was the final insult. My friend and I were each entitled to a complimentary printed photo from MGM reward (looks like normally priced at $29.99). We were only photographed twice -- both group shots. In one, my eyes were closed; in the other, I looked fine. Yet the staff refused to print the good photo and insisted that the only option was the closed-eye one, telling me the other would have to be purchased online. It was obvious this wasn't any real policy, just a lazy excuse to brush me off. Meanwhile, I watched another group of girls get individual portraits plus a group shot, with all three printed out and laid on the counter for them to choose from. The staff shrugged, "at least you're smiling." The result: two identical, utterly useless prints of me with my eyes shut. We tossed them aside the moment we got them. A closed-eye photo is not a product fit to sell, let alone something you're supposed to treasure. As for the flight itself, it was what it should like, but choosing another company would be no different. We accepted being seated apart "for weight distribution"; we would not say very happy with this, but it's ok. I was put in the front seat while my friend was sent to the back left, and his view was only so-so compared to others. What matters is what stood out was the pattern: with this company, the bad outcomes always seemed to land on us, I couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of discrimination. First the cancellation, then being stuck with a closed-eye photo, and finally being split up. It felt less like coincidence and more like a choice. Overall, Maverick Helicopters shows no respect for your time, your money, or your experience. They run on self-interest, not customer care. If you value reliability, integrity, and basic courtesy, look elsewhere. read more

We did the Vegas Views tour (over the Vegas strip and downtown) and it was an extremely fun experience. It's very short (12 to 15 minutes) but a lot of fun. And it really was not scary at all. Seeing the lights of Vegas at night from above was spectacular. The ride itself was extremely smooth. It was like floating on air. I only wish the ride lasted longer. If it was an hour long, I wouldn't have complained at all. The check-in process is a breeze. Basically, you get weighed in at the front desk so watch how many Vegas buffets you enjoy before your flight. Then you wait. And wait. And wait. They ask you to check-in 45 minutes before your flight but other than getting weighed in, you'll be weigh-ting for a long time. That part was pretty boring. Our pilot was great but there's no narration during your flight. You listen to music and that's it. It's not a guided tour, just FYI. This is a terrific and unique experience. For a person who is scared of heights I must say this was a one in a lifetime opportunity! I totally would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the Grand Canyon without spending the whole day doing so. They have a complimentary shuttle from your hotel to Maverick Headquarters. The staff is very friendly and they do their best to ensure you are comfortable! A+ ! The checking area is big with comfortable couch like seating and window view to the helicopters and jets taking off! They have a gift shop with snacks, souvenirs, and other cute things. You arrive they check you in and are provided a number to the group you will be flying in. The pilot comes out calls the number, walks you out to the helicopter, where he goes over safety rules. The majority of the flight the inform you of all of the ceramic monuments! The cool thing is you can only land at the bottom of the canyon in a helicopter. it's nearly impossible to get down there. This trip was worth every penny! We did the Grand Canyon Tour with a fly-over of the strip at sunset. We had a great day with very little wind, so it was smooth flying the whole time. We volunteered to be up front first, so had great views all the way to the canyon. I would highly recommend going up front first! (They rotate all 6 passengers so everyone gets a turn) And, on the way back, sit on the left side so you can see all of the strip. We were on the right side, so I got zero good pictures of the strip at sunset. We were picked up directly in front of our hotel and made a few stops to pick up others. However, once we arrived, the folks in our transport were not the ones in the helicopter with us. They divide everyone up by weight, and there were 6 helicopters taking off within minutes of each other heading to the canyon. The views of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Canyon were fantastic.
