We were able to try 50Kitchen out via their food truck at a local event in Knightdale. To be honest, it was our first time learning of them - but what caught our eye was the FRIED CORNBREAD on the menu. Sorry, if you have that on the menu - I NEED to know what you got going on. AND can I say, I am so so glad we did! The food was amazing! We ordered: Fried Honey Cornbread Smoked Banh Mi The 50Chicken Sandwich Wing Box Bang Bang Cauliflower Before tip - was about $70. The sandwiches and wing box came with fries - so we didn't order additional side of them. Honestly, we were taken back by how good the flavor profile of each item was. The two items that were the star of the show for us were: Bang Bang Cauliflower Fried Honey Cornbread Don't get it wrong - we loved all of the food. Each having its own ranking - but these two are the ones we all couldn't stop talking about especially the cornbread. Man, it is sweet, it has crunch, its warm, it pillowy soft on the inside. It leaves you trying to guess - what did they do to this?! and still waiting to have another piece. With the cauliflower, they had layers to them! Sweet, little spicy, the crunch EVEN with the sauce - where do they do that? I haven't come across such a thing when it comes to cauliflower being deep fried with sauce! Normally, they become soft quickly and just become so so. Not these! So here's the thing, I really, really wanted to love this place. I follow several food content creators, one of which recommended this establishment. I had this on my wishlist for sometime. Due to timing and distance I hadn't tried previously. The restaurant is located in an unassuming community kitchen with ample parking and seating. The service was warm and inviting. I was immediately greeted and placed my order. Unfortunately, due to unexpected hiccups I had a longer than normal wait time (25 mins or so). The staff was very apologetic and offered to comp an item. I never received the comp, but no worries I appreciate the thought. I ordered the gumbo, rib plate, and cornbread as an appetizer. The gumbo was clearly the star of the show and worth the wait. While I'm not a gumbo aficionado, I found the roux to be complex and appropriately spiced, in both in spice and heat levels. What I didn't like and I would have increased the scoring from a 3 to a 4 was the okra. I'm a okra fan. So I'm guessing he included fried okra to account for non okra fans. The okra didn't travel well and I didn't particularly like. However, all the other elements were very tasty. The rib plate was pretty good. I guess they fried the ribs and sauce after? The sides were fine. I would be perfectly happy with traditional sides, but I appreciated the creativity. I definitely think this establishment is worth a try. Try it and see for yourself. This was my cousin Karla's review. So this was good. The fries are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The egg rolls are good but thick in the center so as a texture person not I have some difficulty but great flavor. I'm not a real rib person but they are crispy on the outside and comes right off the bone. I've never had a clean rib bone. The sauce is AMAZING and this fried honey cornbread...MY MY MY!!! I think I'm supposed to be somewhere this evening but if I don't figure out where I'll be back for dinner to try a few more things. For you locals they will be at the HAVOC this evening. read more

I'm not surprised there aren't any reviews yet, as this restaurant is only open Saturdays 12-8 right now, but holy cow, do try them out. Our family went last Saturday and the food was spectacular. Our boys got the chicken and waffle sliders w rosemary infused syrup and apple butter - they loved them. I got the 50K sandwich, which was so delicious I made everyone take a bite, had BBQ pork with Asian pear slaw and cilantro on an insanely yummy grilled brioche bun...heaven. The side of fries were crisp and hot. My husband really enjoyed the St. Louis ribs and the sides. All in all - outstanding. The couple that runs the places are super nice - we got complimentary honey fried cornbread, which my 12 year old said was the best cornbread he'd ever had, and I had to agree. The restaurant is in the pop-up space of the Blue Dogwood Public Market. I was afraid we would't find parking, but was pleasantly surprised to find several spots in a little lot right in front (back?) of the Market on Rosemary St. The current space is used by several new culinary ventures, and it's fun and funky.
