I haven't been here for a while, so some things regulars may take for granted were new to me…read more I arrived around 8 am today, a Sunday. First off, the woman who took my order and cut my meats appeared to be the same one who left a very good impression on me years before. Everything went smoothly. I ordered all my favorites - a half pound each of char siu and roast pork, and a half roast duck. I showed her a photo I took of her cutting and asked for permission to post it on Yelp, and she said it would be okay. In the past, I would hand over my physical card and worry it would come back greasy. I was pleased that I could use Google Pay. The total cost was in line with what I had anticipated, reasonable. I hurried home since I hadn't eaten yet this morning. I had some of everything along with some hot rice I prepared at home. I started with the duck, which I ate as is, without using the included sauce. It tasted as good as I had hoped. I also enjoyed the char siu and roast pork. They were just as I like them. There is nothing like getting good, freshly roasted meats from Chinatown. I will be back.

BLAH!? Like blah blah blah? Why do you call this BLAH? You're lying, cuz there is NOTHING BLAH…read moreabout Blah's smoked meat. I was a vendor at a recent Christmas craft fair at Dole Cannery and stumbled on Blah's because it was the only food vendor there. THIS. THIS IS WHAT SMOKED MEAT tastes like. Holy smoked meat you guys. You gotta sampo if you ever come across this booth. I think the only way to get your hands on his meat is to visit the air conditioned farmers markets. Yeah, this is my kind of guy, only doing business in the A/C! Basically you have to catch him at Windward Mall farmers markets inside the mall or at these air conditioned Christmas craft fairs. He sells most of it uncooked, so you just have to throw it in a fry pan when you get home. I was lucky enough to get a bento with smoked meat/rice to go, and I inhaled it all. Do yourself a flavor and find this guy and buy a slab of his meat. Get one for me too.

Not only did I love the sample but my 7 year old boy loved it. My intention was to walk through the whole farmers market and come back to get a bento. Well that didn't last long. After a few mins I went back to get my smoked meat bento. My son and I shared the bento and we are both full. Not sure if they use guava Jam or jelly but I could definitely taste the sweet but it was equally balanced with the savory of the what I'm assuming is soy and other spices. The meat was tender and had just enough fat to balance it all out. The sauce over the rice was winner! Mahalo Blahs Bonus: the guy selling the smoked meat was awesome too. Super friendly and even offered my son 2 samples
