Came here after it was recommended to me by a friend while we were traveling through town. I think this place in whole is what this area needs! New and modern layout and such a great patio area. We came here for dinner originally but didn't make it in time as the kitchen closed at 8pm (which we thought was pretty early). The beer options were limited. We wished we could had physical menus rather than having to read off our servers iPad. We also thought the tipping of the server in front of her rather awkward (even when tipping 20%). We chatted with the owner and he came across very pleasant and seemed to love his business. We did feel rushed to finish our beers though as it seemed the staff was rushing out the door promptly at 9pm. All in all, this place was awesome! I hope to eat next time we make the trip to town. read more

The pizza dough is so tasty with such a nice crispy crust. I was very impressed! It's such a nice surprise to find such a delicious restaurant in the UP, especially after passing a dive bar called JR'S Fish Fry. I highly recommend the pizza and bread sticks. Delish! read more

I'm not in to bashing a brewery BUT the beer was very good, food was good. The waitress was good. We were in the brewery for at least 2 hours and spent better than $150.00. But to be run off because you want the table is unacceptable. The manager was pushing us out the door saying we need the table people are waiting you all set. 51st State Brewery will not see us again. read more

Food is good, beer is pretty good, bartenders and waitresses are excellent. Too many rules! Female owner is very rude. We sat at the bar to wait for a table to open up. Then she threatened to give our table away if we didn't sit down RIGHT NOW while we were trying to follow their rules and close out our bar tabs before sitting at a table. We're in town on vacation. Stopped in for a few beers and decided to order a pizza. Beer was good and pizza was delicious.

On our recent visit, we found room to dine, on Sunday. We were very happy with the Woody Wagon, a very strong Scottish Ale. It was very good! It was also the only beer available,as they were out of everything else. More beer will be made though. We had the beer cheese plank appetizer and a chicken Caesar pizza. Both are excellent! The Staff all were very friendly. It is well worth the visit to the 51st State brewery. read more

The 51st State brewery has excellent pizza and breadsticks. My husband and I had the Chiven Ceasar pizza and it was awesone. We had the Woody Wagon which is an excellen beer.. I am excited to see this brewery grow. Please come and try them out! You will not be disappointed! read more

the Pizza is very good, but they do not seem to like special orders. I have tried twice to get more sauce and less cheese, and it is impossible. I guess if you do not like the way they make it, tough. The beer is very nice, also. They have a good selection for a brewpub, but they keep running out of some, and do not take it off their board. That also is very irritating, when you spend time studying the selections, make a decision, and then they say they are out of that. I will still go back there, as my Wife loves it. We will see what kind of winter brew comes up this year. read more

The pizza is absolutely fantastic! Crispy yet soft crust with all flavor in the toppings and just enough in the crust to bring it all out. All the beers will taste great to the the typical beer drinker. However if you are a hop maniac like my brother, you MIGHT find the beers a tad flat on that bitterness. I think the Blueberry Wheat flat out murders the Blueberry beer from the Vierling in Marquette. I will update further as I taste more menu items and sample more seasonal beers. Some sour beers would be awesome! As well as a real hoppy beer. On Island Time is good, but with more bitterness, I think it could be awesome! read more

Pizza is great, beer is great, but the service leaves something to be desired. Need more than one person pouring beer. Every time I have been there I have seen people get mad and leave or leave early because of no beer being served. read more

The beer was Ok, nothing special only 3 on tap. Pizza was ok again nothing special. The employees are good. I'm assuming the owners were there. They really didn't interact with customers at all. Which was kind of disappointing that they've put this effort into a business and don't socialise with the customers. T-shirts and pint glasses for sale. They have snifters but don't sell them. Not sure why. I'm tired of buying pint glasses. If it was a snifter I'd buy one. read more

Great beer, pizza is awesome. Atmosphere is very nice and relaxing and the prices are very reasonable.
