I'm about as new as it gets when purchasing guns and this place is very impressive. It's a very large space and has lots to choose from (although without anything to compare it to personally). I've visited a handful of times mostly with questions and each time, the service was tops. Everyone was more than happy to help and never felt disrespected for being a novice. It was extremely busy when I decided to purchase a high-end .308 and they were still very helpful (even with what seemed like complicated class-3 questions... they even gave me the number to their attorney for my legal questions). My wife is a little apprehensive about owning her own weapon but she felt very comfortable and was able to get all her questions answered. They even offer numerous classes including some beginner shooter classes to put her mind as ease. Haven't visited the range yet, but it's nice that its in the neighborhood. read more

This service at this place is terrible. They do not have correct hours posted on the door and the clerk acted like I was an idiot for showing up and the wrong time. Apparently, you need to look at their website to get accurate information. The clerk was so rude and condescending, it was clear they did not want my money. I have been to every gun store in the metro area over the past few years, this place is without a doubt the worst place I have visited. I have experienced better customer service at the DMV. I firmly believe the owners feel that they are the only game in town; not so. The shop has en extensive inventory but the prices are MSRP (far too high). The employees are rude, uninformed and opinionated. I will NEVER purchase anything from this business and NEVER recommended this business to anyone. 5280 has been a great experience for me and continues to be a great experience. I recently purchased my first firearm and did a lot of research before going to a store. 5280 is close to my work so I gave them a shot. When I first walked in I was greeted with a smile and hello. As I looked around the staff was very attentive and showed me a few pistols and answered my silly newbie questions. I did run into an issue with my background check but a lady from the shop called me a couple weeks later to let me know it cleared up and I was OK to purchase. Returning to the shop to pickup my pistol I was again greeted with a smile and hello. Everyone I have interacted with his been really friendly and I always feel welcome there. For my next trip a buddy and myself decided to hit the range. The signup process was easy and the gentleman behind the counter answered all my questions. We paid for 2 lanes and headed into the range. Upon entering it was very comfortable and well kept. You could hear the filtration system running and a real slight breeze pushing air forward. There was an employee in the range sweeping the casings and he was also really helpful. After my round of shots he came over and asked if I wanted any pointers. he spent a few minutes with me and gave some great advise. He also did a fantastic job keeping the range clear of casings. The target system was really nice as well. Touch screen controls where you set your distance (yards, ft or meters) and send your targets away or bring them back with the push of a button. You can also rent a huge assortment of guns (we brought our own) from pistols to fully automatic weapons. The range ammo I bought here was really cheap and most targets were $2 each. All and all the few times I have been to 5280 has been a great experience and I will continue to give them my business in the future. I will probably sign up for the monthly range fee since its only $40 per month while the normal range fee is $20 an hour. Not sure what has happened with these negative reviews, I have seen nothing respect and friendliness from the employee's each time I visit. read more

I'm a collector of modern arms and I've bought only 2 guns here in the last year, and about 50 guns from other area stores in that same time period. Number 1 reason I rarely buy here is they are super slow and inattentive, and I'm not talking about the background checks being slow either. I'm in and out of other stores in 10-15 on average with a new gun even when there are lines of people. At 5280, even on slow days I get ignored by most of their floor folks and the longest it took me to get out with my purchase was about 1.5 hours. Maybe I don't look like a gun fanatic to them but trust me I am. Number 2 reason I rarely leave 5280 with anything is they damage hicap magazines before transferring the firearm to you, and they do this by popping a pin into the mag body. Way to destroy the integrity of a magazine. ALL other shops in the area and even small FFLs do not practice destroying magazines in this fashion...not one. They have more intuitive and appropriate ways to legalize all magazines, but 5280 would rather just drill through mags. Last but not least, their prices are in the upper range for gun shops within 20 miles. They do get 1 star for having a huge selection to peruse, but I'll pass and give other local gun shops my hard earned play money. read more

I recently bought a new shotgun at 5280 and was told I get a range discount along with my purchase. I was also told I could only shoot slugs in the range. No problem. After I got home, I ordered 2 cases of slug ammo from my favorite ammo source and went to 5280 to get some range time on my new gun. During sign in I was told I could only shoot slugs and I was required to only shoot their range ammo, which I would have to purchase from them. They would not even look at my ammo to see if it would qualify. I proceeded to walk out, and will never go back. I was treated unfairly after spending hundreds of dollars on a firearm, and hundreds more on ammo that I cannot use there. Nowadays, I tell anyone who will listen my story and will continue to do so. read more

I have been going here for quite some time and let me tell you I am a gun collector and I just absolutely love their selection it is the largest I've ever seen in the state if not the country! The staff is top notch every person he or she that has helped me has been so helpful with information and what I really like about it is they don't push you to buy anything there are so many shops out there that are biased about what they carry and what they want you to buy and The people I have encountered as in employees when I go there have been nothing but full of information and if they don't have it in stock they can get it to you ASAP it's quite amazing. Now let me tell you about the shooting range. Not only do they make sure that you are in a very safe environment it is absolutely spotless all the time. Their range officers are always watching and making sure no one is doing something to put someone in danger I feel safe when I'm shooting and there's people next to me with loaded pistol or rifle's because I know the range officer is always making them keep stuff pointed down range. It is nice to go shooting at a place where people are shooting live ammo and know that maybe a beginner is next to you and that he's not pointing his fire arm towards you without you knowing or anything else because of the range officer so I have to give the range also because not only if a person wants to have some fun and shoot something that they will never have that opportunity they can rent one of their fully automatic they can rent basically anything that you want to try before purchasing. Sorry for the long review but I absolutely love when I can make the time to go there it's a very pleasant shopping and shooting experience I have never encountered before and I travel all over. read more

What a great experience. I am a first time gun buyer and was very concerned about my lack of knowledge. The owner (Matt, I believe) was so patient and spent a lot of time with me answering all of my questions and did not pressure me to buy anything above what I was comfortable with. He went to the range with me and showed me the basics without judgement and was quite clear in his instruction. I will go back for classes and potential future purchases. I was very excited to try the new range at 5280, as i had in the past purchased several firearms here and received exemplary treatment. This was not my experience today. The two gentlemen (have delt with them both in the past with good service) who helped me both with the range and the firearms counter were extremely rude and reeked of "we really don't need your money". The range, while crowded, is well lit and well ventilated and fearures a target retrieval system that allows you to set the targets to flip (ala centennial gun club), but as it turns out this feature is for " holster qualified " persons only. I was also not permitted to have my sig brace affixed. The rangemaster (older gentleman) was VERY kind however, but i still left with a sour taste in my mouth; overall it was a less than enjoyable shooting experience. Will continue shooting at shoot indoors, centennial, and Colorado clays. Also, I should add that spider was helpful as always. read more

This is a big gun shop. Not sure about rifles but most of their pistols are priced much higher than other stores. I really liked the new range there. I went there regularly since it opened sometimes several times a week. I don't go anymore though. They were charging 18 dollars an hour to shoot but then raised it to 20 without notice. 20 dollars for an hour there is just too much and I won't be going back. I go to silver bullet a couple times a week which is only 16 an hour. Also when you are shooting, after your time is up, your target will come forward and you can't do anything else. You can't even finish your magazine. read more

Yesterday was my first time at the new location. I stopped in to just to shoot my pistol for a while and ended up doing some shopping as well. I couldn't resist myself. I picked up a new plastic ammo can, a soft rifle case, an AR 15 lower receiver and some defensive 9mm ammo. Along with some other Ar 15 parts. Beside the great selection of stuff for sale You will also find a grade A indoor range at this location. The shooting range is clean, well lit and well ventilated. They also offer a huge selection of rentals weather it be something fully auto or you want to try out a pistol that your thinking of buying.You will also find a great staff that's friendly and knowledgeable. No snobby or unfriendly vibes when I was there. Did I say that the store is huge. They have a very large selection of rifles and pistols and I was very happy with the prices that I saw. Very competitive prices. Even when compared to online prices around the nation. This is now my favorite firearms store in the Denver. I would recommend this place to any body in Colorado. Its well worth a bit of a drive even. There happens to be a Costco about five minutes to the west so you can Kill two birds with one stone the next time that your in the city. read more

My go-to place when looking for something special. The prices are great, staff leaves you alone, they have their own bathrooms now (part of the new range) and the selection is awesome. These guys first install night sights on my M&P 9 crooked. I asked the gunsmith if he uses calipers to measure center on the rear side and he said no he just eyeballed them. Who does this? The install was free so therefore I deserved to have them installed incorrectly? He would not adjust the sites for me without charge .They also use epoxy to take high-capacity magazines down to the 15 round Colorado limit. This method left my mags in my Smith & Wesson M and P 9mm not functioning correctly and wound up destroying my gun. Took it back to 5280 and they said send it in to Smith & Wesson. Smith & Wesson said it would not be covered under warranty because the gun had been altered. After I got it back from Smith & Wesson I took it back to 5280 to see what they could do for me it said they did not alter the gun they altered the magazine to comply with Colorado law. Smith & Wesson said the magazine is part of the gun altering the magazine caused my gun to fail. Bottom line is these people have an incompetent gunsmith and they will not take care of you when you call them on their crap. read more

My wife and I went to use the range for the first time today. More paperwork than I have ever seen just to shoot a pistol. Why do you need my address, DOB when you have my drivers license the entire time I'll be shooting, why do you need my phone # since every time I give it out I get tons of spam calls. I just want to shoot not have you collect every bit of info you can on me. Seems to me for a gun shop they should be interested in personal freedoms, you seem to forget about others. I shoot at the Firing Line all the time and they do not do all this data mining just to use their range, they are also much cheaper. I'll be doing my shooting elsewhere and buying my ammo and firearms elsewhere also. read more

Yesterday was my first experience at the range. I have purchased an N pap and XDS, from their store I can't say either was a particularly friendly exchange a little snobby for my taste. but my experience at their range was beyond all belief. I've been shooting for over 30 years and spent 4 years in the military the brass sweeper inside the range was one of the most unpleasant figures I have encountered in a very long while. I brought a friend. She has not fired a gun in over 20 years as I explained the mechanics of the AK how to put in the clip how to make it safe how to place a bullet in the chamber I turned towards her with the barrel facing the ground I was instantly verbally attacked by the brass sweeper, standing two feet behind me watching me insert the clip and pull back the slide again with the barrel facing at about a 35 degree angle to the ground, he runs up into my face and screams "is this effing gun loaded". "yes" I say" don't you f_ing muzzle sweep again in here as he rips my rifle out of my hand , which was being held in front of the magazine, my finger nowhere near the trigger, and made safe. Now don't get me wrong a gun is always loaded and ready to fire that's rule number 1 never point it at anything you don't intend to kill, but if he had a problem with the way I handled it he could have easily made a polite suggestion, instead of coming on like R Lee Ermey. For the remainder of my hour on the lane he stood three behind me analyzing every move made. I made no more moves that set him off but it did completely ruin the experience and after spending well over $200 on ammunition and trying to expose someone to the sport of shooting, I left upset. exactly the way you don't want to feel after firing a few hundred rounds. They do have a great selection. I will give them that, but they've got a long way to go when it comes to treating people with courtesy and respect. And again if I had actually muzzle sweat at anything higher than a 60 degree angle I would have felt bad instead I wanted nothing more then to make my case with this clown but knowing you can't win an argument with a person like that in the store staffed with people like that, I simply gritted my teeth and fired the rounds I had bought if I wouldn't have been taking someone I would have walked out then and there and never returned. I could not imagine how he would treat someone who really needed advice he never even took the time to explain the digital range control. also he decided it would be best to never move from the spot behind me and leave 15 other lanes unattended. bad show. read more

They have a little bit of a monopoly and it shows in their customer service attitude. They have a good selection, but the pricing can be a bit high. When you ask them to price match or make deals they give you attitude like you are only a customer at their convenience. I have never experienced such poor customer service and attitude, especially from a management/ownership stand point. When I bought my first firearm from them, they screwed up and sold me the wrong model. It was a minor difference, which I lived with, but the fact that they would do nothing at all to fix it was very irritating. I recently went in looking for another pistol and trade in one, and the treatment was really crappy. They wont make you an offer, you have to tell them what you want, and if its not what they want to hear, they basically ignore you and give you attitude. I expect better service on a potential $1000 purchase. Needless to say, like others, I will take my business elsewhere. read more
