Stopped in yesterday to see what this gun store had on hand. The sign on the front door about guard dogs on duty was mildly disconcerting and gave the entire visit an odd feel. When I entered, I was greeted very warmly and asked if I needed any help. No complaints there. The prices seemed reasonable with a rather limited selection of firearms and/or ammunition. It's a small store, so that's not really an issue. What did bother me is the way the pistols were just thrown into the display cabinets, lying on and against one another. It just feels off to me to see such high dollar weapons just randomly thrown into a case. I've never seen new guns bare metal stacked on one another like this. It gave me the feeling these people didn't care about firearms in the same way I do. I'd be slow to buy from anyone that shows such little regard for their own stock. I've been buying guns for twenty years and I've never seen this, even in low end pawn shops. Your mileage may vary but guns are a lifestyle to me and I deeply care about how they are taken care and how safely they are handled. read more

A complete mess and soo unorganized. Receipts and paperwork all over the floor. Don't know how they're still in business. Bought a lower receiver and was told to come back after the waiting period. Went in to pick it up to only be told they had lost it. Waited 45 mins for them to go through the mess in the back room and still never found it. Ended up getting a refund. Wonder if they ever reported it as "lost or stolen" to correct authorities. read more

I came in with a 10/22 that had the wrong rail on it for the current scope, and was directed to buy one on Amazon and was told the scope would fit perfect. Well now it doesn't even fit on the new rail. Do I have to add I went in and it's just 3 older men sitting down, not a bit interested in doing there job for customer service when I had questions, and it was a friend of there's that told me to buy the rail on Amazon? On the hunt for a carry pistol. DGA had an excellent selection of top brands to check out, very knowledgeable staff. I sat and chatted at the counter with them for probably 30-40 minutes, they weren't "bothered" or "annoyed" like some of the other yelp reviews say. When you come into these stores, come with a purpose. Do some research, have an objective, and they will be more than willing to help you. When you go to the grocery store, you don't ask the clerk "what food tastes the best?" Same goes for firearms dealers. read more

went in to look at a couple things & i was going to buy a 1000$ gun from them. seemed like they take customers as a joke unless maybe you are waving cash in their face. After i said i wanted to buy the gun multiple times the older guy put the gun away & seemed like he did not want to so his actual job he is there for then went back & sat down at his desk. Ended up leaving to go purchase somewhere else after 15 minutes of just standing there trying to get some help in order to make purchase. customer service is poor. read more

Asked for a particular kind of ammo. Didnt have what I needed (or even comparable), wouldn't offer to see if they could order it. Kinda rude and degrading behind the counter. The selection of accessories was pretty sporadic, a bunch of amazon batteries at a premium price. Nice amount of rifles and shotguns but well above MSRP. Was in browsing for a weapon for home defense, only to be met by three lazy men all sitting around doing nothing in an empty store that had no interest in helping me as it related to questions about firearms. As a first-time customer, I was somewhat hesitant with having a hard-to-find rifle transferred to Denver Guns and Ammo for my background check. This was mostly owing to a few negative reviews on Yelp. But let me tell you, my experience with this FFL dealer couldn't have been better! BELIEVE the positive 4 and 5-star reviews, and take the few negative ones with a grain of salt. As a former shop owner, I know that it is often the attitude that the customer brings through the door that sets the overall tone of the transaction. My long-deceased ol' man taught me when I was young that it's just human nature... "The way people treat you has a lot to do with how you treat them." At the time I arrived at the door of Denver Guns and Ammo, I was somewhat harried. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I felt I had plenty of time to make my 1 pm appointment. But, between hitting every red light along the way, and one cup of coffee too many, by the time they buzzed me through the locked door, I was a bundle of nerves. Once inside and pleasantly greeted, Dylan pointed out one of the countertop computers to fill in the blanks, for what should have been a few quick questions. But I was so damn frazzled that I couldn't even type out my name! After a minute or two, Dylan, observing my obvious struggle, called out from behind his desk, "Want me to help you with it?" With a sigh of relief, I gladly took him up on the offer. Within a matter of minutes, my ATF background check was complete. I was so pleased with the transaction that I laid down a few bucks extra to buy him and his associate lunch. I felt that the $25 transfer fee alone was too puny to make it worth their while, since I wasn't even a prior customer. [I know, I know... but I'm a bit old-fashioned.] Dylan, obviously not expecting this, was reluctant to take it. But I insisted. These are tough times for shopkeepers. And here's a bonus that I never expected in my wildest dreams, given the current ammo shortage--they actually had my ammo in stock...and it was CHEAPER than anything I could find online (IF I could even find it in the first place)! [As an aside, you should expect to pay more for ammo these days, given the current shortage, as dealers have to pay more from the supplier.] But the last pleasant surprise floored me the most. Within about four hours after arriving home, I received the following message: Your background check is all done, so if you want to stop by tomorrow between 11 and 6, you can pick up your firearm and ammo--Dylan. As a final note, I had a brief discussion with Sam, prior to leaving his shop. Regarding the safety--of customer and shop personnel alike--he recounted that, early on in the Covid-19 pandemic, he'd come up with their one-customer-at-a-time, appointment-only policy. Customers are required to wear face masks prior to entry, and shop personnel adhere to the same rule. Plus, hand sanitizer is readily available at the counter. read more

Called looking for mossy 5 series. Asked what they had and the guy said they had "several". Tried to inquire which ones but he was being difficult (or perhaps just slow) and was obviously put out and unwilling to tell me. Clearly he's lazy and didn't want to explain what they had over the phone because it's easier for him if I just come see for myself so he does't have to interact. Anyway, I'll never know what they have in stock as I'll never step foot in this place. In response to proprietor's comment on my review: I was specifically looking for a Mossberg 500, not just any Mossberg. And their website did NOT list or even mention 30+ Mossberg 500's in stock, that's either a lie or just an easy excuse 5+ months after I left my initial review. If these guys are too lazy to communicate via phone to an inquiring customer then I'm too busy to give them my business. To the owner: I called you on the phone so don't tell me I need to come in person or pass me off to your outdated website because you are too lazy and/ or don't know your inventory. I don't have time to waste coming in person just to see what you have because you're incapable, or unwilling, to tell me over the phone. There are plenty of other places with at least a semblance of customer service and a knowledgeable staff to give my business to. I ended up going to Sportsman's Warehouse and got exactly what I needed minus the rudeness which, based on other Yelp reviews, seems to be an issue other's have also experienced with you. read more

That time is passed. My first gun ever was bought from here. It was an awesome experience. I got a job that required me to carry and I knew absolutely nothing about guns at the time. I had never even held a handgun. I stopped in to just see what they had and to learn about firearms. They were very helpful and patient, if a little condescending. I went back several times to do some research and decide what I was going to get. Each time they were helpful and nice. I ended up buying my gun and got a fantastic price on it as well, along with my holster, extra mags, and mag pouches. I was very happy with the overall experience. Since then, I have gone through all of my training and now that I am extremely familiar with handguns and the whole shooting culture, I have gone back in a few times for accessories or just to see what they have and compare it to my knowledge now (i.e. how a Glock compares to the SIG I originally chose now that I understand striker-fire vs hammer-fire) and each time they have been dismissive and rude. I actually went in there to get a Glock 26 for my concealed backup along with my friend who was going to buy a Glock 17. As usual, they were rude and dismissive. They didn't have my friend's 17 in stock and when he asked them to order it, they got all huffy and irritated and required a $100 deposit, because apparently G17's are soooo hard to sell since they were OUT OF THEM. When I asked to see the 26 the guy gave it to me as if I was wasting his time. Right then, I decided not to get it. We both could have driven up to Neve's and got both of our Glocks for $50 cheaper and been treated better but we decided to go here because it was closer and wanted to support a local business. So much for that. They will get my friends' money for the 17 because he put the deposit down and that's it. They will get no more money from me. Something that gun store people need to realize is that guns are expensive. They are an investment and you can't really return them if they don't work out. People don't go to one dealership and buy the first car they see. They price them, test them, think about how they will work for them, and then make a decision. Guns are no different. If I am thinking of buying a gun, I will (and should expect to) shop around, make sure they are comfortable to hold, easy to shoot, and fit any number of personal factors. I should NOT be treated like I am wasting the store's time because I don't want to buy right at that exact moment. Would you buy a car from a dealership that was rude and dismissive the moment they determined you didn't want to buy a car THAT DAY from them? Of course not. Guns have a certain "mystique" to them, as well, that makes people curious. They want to hold them and touch them and understand them. To treat them like they are wasting your time instead of taking the time to show them and teach them about something like a gun just promotes willful ignorance. Who wants to go to learn something from someone who talks down to them and makes them feel dumb for simply not knowing something? That's how you get "self taught gun experts" who end up shooting themselves or others. read more

After being told about DG&A by a friend 2 years ago, I found this business to be the best price around when purchasing my firearms. Before each purchase I did my own research, renting guns at local ranges & web searches, coming up with a selection before heading into different shops. My 1st experience was good and I have even been in a few times to research my next purchase. Due to recent events I'm sure they have been busy. However that does not give you the right to treat a customer like crap. I called asking if they had any ammo left ( fully understanding most places are out) but I was curious. I started to ask what calibers he had or was out of. Again stating my understanding of how crazy it must be. Before I could clarify my question to make it easier on Mr.Lazy he straight up said " I don't have time for that!" And friggin hung up on me! I called Big 5 before them and the young girl on the phone was very polite and when I asked my question she said oh were out of 9 and 45 and running low on others. So I said do you have any 223? She went and checked for me. Now how hard was that!? In my desperation I called Mr.Lazy back and made sure I was straight to the point! " You got any 223 or 556?" His response.. "NO!" Love coming here. As someone who is well educated about firearms I thoroughly appreciate going in here and not being pushed around or lectured about certain firearms based off of one persons opinion. Certain firearms work for some, others don't. I go in here to make a quick stop like to pick up some ammo and I leave an hour later. All the staff is very courteous, and will have them come up to me just saying to check out this rifle or this pistol, just to look at, not to buy and I love it! I've spent hours here with these guys just talking about guns and feeling comfortable. They also just remodeled the place. It really opened the place up and is very nice in there now. They have tons of handguns for your liking, and quite a few rifles. Mainly tactical rifles and a good selection of AK's. Prices are pretty good too and not outrageous. I am looking to buy a gun for the first time and was told this place is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I walked in yesterday and there were 2 consumers at one of the display cases. It appeared they had just completed the background process and walked out of the store. I proceeded to walk around the different display cases and nobody said a word to me. I made eye contact with at least 2 "employees" and no one said anything to me. As a person that values teaching and learning I find the practice of not speaking to possible customers deplorable! Great experience with Denver Guns and Ammo. I found a Cobra Derringer that I needed for a gunfighting reenactment in only a few days--plus I needed blanks. It was easy to order the Derringer for pickup on their website; they also ordered the ammo I needed. I phoned and emailed to ask if the gun had come in and the responded to *both*--and the ammo was also there. Small shop but nice online presence and friendly and professional service, even though I was buying what had to be the smallest firearm made. read more

The staff at Denver Guns and Ammo are AWESOME! I've purchased two weapons and numerous accessories from them and without a doubt, they are some of the finest guys in the trade. They never "high grossed" me when the weapons were scarce and ammo was unobtainium. I politely requested a call if they were to receive a specific weapon in, and sure enough a week later came the call, and I purchased the next day (I was at work and couldn't get there before they closed so they held it for me). In addition, I was approached by another patron that followed me outside the store to inform me about where to buy the weapon today. Not the fanciest shop in Littleton, nor it is the biggest. However, these guys know what they're talking about, have GREAT prices on guns and candy alike, AND are just some really nice people. Likewise, because they are a small, out-of-the-way place, they tend to have the items that the other Littleton shops have run out of - just this week they had 2 parts kits that no one else - not even Brownells or Midway - had in stock. STAY AWAY! Told me it would be $25 for a backgound check. Charged me $75 due to me bringing in 3 lower receiver parts in the same package. You can have up to 5 on one background check. Charged me for 3 background checks and they only did 1. They got their pound of flesh and lost a new customer for being greedy. read more

I went here last week while on a shopping trip to buy myself a birthday present. It was nice to be greeted when I first walked in. He asked if there was anything he could help me with. I responded by telling him it was my first time in the store, and that I would like to take a look around. At almost any other shop that statement elicits a response similar to "Glocks are over to the left, Sigs in the center, and others on the right." Or something to that effect. Instead I got a grunt and he lookes back down. After browsing their (small) selection of pistols I stood in front of the counter by the employee that had greeted me, but he was now too busy looking down at something to notice me a 2nd time. I was ready to leave the store when I saw the firearm on display . I was then greeted by Dylan with a totally different attitude and he helped immensely .He is the only reason why my experience was 5 stars the other two oldies showed me no respect being a young man . The best things I can say about this place I can sum up in one line: The prices are GOOD/FAIR and the staff aren't total idiots. Boom. If you're a responsible gun owner that should sound like a good deal to you. I've bought 2 guns from Denver Guns and Ammo for exactly MSRP prices. Is that an incredible mind-blowing deal? No. Is it exactly fair and honest? Yes. And that's saying a lot in the current gun market. Both times I've purchased guns there I was in and out in less than 1 hour and they had exactly what I wanted in stock. The staff never tried to sell me stuff I didn't want, or pressure me into buying something on days when I just there to look. They seem like a small outfit and sometimes that means they're a little bit crowded or busy and don't have time for you, but they take care of the customers as completely as they can. read more

Purchased a Glock 23 on 090618 from this store because of a recommendation from a Police supply store. After bringing the gun home, I realized I would prefer the 22 because of the barrel length. On the morning of 090818 right when they opened, I wanted to inquire about an exchange. Not sure of the person I spoke with, but tried to explain what I was trying to accomplish. Immediately his response, " I don't know if that gun has been fired". First of all, every gun in that store has been fired, and second if you are as knowledgeable as you say you are, you could tell if a weapon has been recently fired. Look at the gun, take it apart, inspect it. It will be spotless just like the rest of the guns from the factory. At no point was there a discussion about help me in any way. I had the gun less then 48 hours, one would think a little discussion could take place. Very rude, if you don't like your job, change jobs, and please next time you come to work, look in a mirror and wipe of the dandruff from your shirt, or don't wear black. I would avoid calling this store all together. Denver Guns and Ammo is certainly NOT a good choice if your in the market for a Silencer purchase. First of all, they have no Silencer inventory. To take possession of an NFA item you'll need to provide fingerprints with your application to the BATF thus if you reside in Jefferson County you simply cannot transact for a Silencer with Denver Guns and Ammo. Denver Guns and Ammo requires that you use special fingerprint cards that only they can provide. The Jefferson County Sheriff's remote field offices will fingerprint you on their cards only and if you happen to visit the main County Seat Sheriff Office your fingerprints will be digital i.e. no ink or cards. Thus, avoid Denver Guns and Ammo all together. Even if you reside in another County. Visit an FFL with better inventory and more knowledgeable staff who will genuinely appreciate your business. read more

I immediately left and went to another gun store where I was greeted nicely and talked about a firearm with them and made my purchase that day. This place straight up sucks! First off the reason I chose this place is because it was near my house. I went in there knowing exactly what I wanted. I asked for the gun, the old foreign guy gave it to me... Not exactly friendly, but not rude either... Yet. I told him I wanted to buy it so we proceeded with the paper work. Waited about 25 min for back ground check (normal). When my background check was done, a younger heavy set white kid called me over to the counter. He said "ok that'll be $528.95". The price tag on the gun was 399.99, so I thought to myself, Colorado must have some expensive fees to buy guns. I paid him. He put the receipt down on the counter and turned around and walked away. No "thank you", or "have a nice day"... Nothing. Very unwelcoming. SO THEN I looked down at the receipt and it said $428.95! $100 less than the guy charged me! So I brought it to his attention and he said "yeah that's what I said $428.95"... I said "no you didn't , you said $528.95" and proceeded to tell him exactly what type of bills I gave him. He mumbled something, went to the cash register got $100 out, slapped it on the counter and turned around and walked away. Again, no "sorry about that" or nothing. So I get home and I'm still a bit pissed about it so I decided to call and tell the old foreign man what had happened in his shop. I calmly informed him what had happened and he took a defensive position with me saying that "the boy make mistake", and "we no thieves"... Lol I wasn't accusing, I was informing, but obviously he felt guilty! In hindsight I firmly believe the guy tried to pull a fast one on me but luckily I was smart enough to catch it right then and there! Nice try guys... The staff of this place reminds me of the cast of "pawn stars"... The old foreign guy was like the old man from the show, and the guy that over charged me was chumlee...
