Added ourselves to the waitlist before heading over, rolled in at 9:50 pm fully expecting late‑night chaos... and instead got seated so fast I barely had time to close the app. Points for efficiency. The staff was on it the whole time--attentive without hovering, and our waitress actually seemed to like her job (rare these days). Place was clean, too, which again... late night. Impressive. We did the Dinner for Two for $40 because I love a deal that doesn't feel like a deal, and this one delivered. Appetizer, two entrées, dessert--no weird upcharges, no "that's not included" surprises. I got the chicken with vegetables and pasta, plus garlic bread and a salad. Everything tasted way better than a $40 bundle has any right to. The other entrée was a burger and fries--simple, hot, and legitimately delicious. For the app, we grabbed the cheese bites (both cheddar and mozzarella) and honestly, I could've eaten a bucket of them. Dessert was a giant slice of cheesecake that looked like it belonged in a display case and tasted even better. Overall? Shockingly great experience. We were driving between San Antonio and Austin today and decided to stop here for some lunch around noon. We were quickly seated at a comfortable booth within view of several big screen tvs that were playing the football games. The decor is 2000's pop culture with many pictures covering every inch of the walls. The menu has many appetizers, salads, burgers, steaks and entrees. My husband had the stuffed mushrooms and chicken wings. The mushrooms were the biggest ones I have ever seen. They were good. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. It came out a lot later than my husband's items for some reason. Once it arrived it was pretty good. A little less blue cheese crumbles would probably have been better. This place has a decent location right off I-35, good food, drinks and sports on big screens. We stopped by on a Sunday and they had four different football games playing. The wings and shrooms were decent appetizers, and the iced tea was refreshing. My wife ordered a salad that should have been the easiest thing to prepare, but there must have been some kind of confusion in the kitchen as multiple other tables were served while she was still waiting for a salad for over 20 minutes. It kind of ruined the vibe for the day, and I probably wouldn't return to the restaurant. Overall however it's got a good energy, and I can see that others have had good experiences, so perhaps ours was just a one-off bad day. read more

This evening was my second time here, and I would definitely make it a third. My spouse and I ordered the special meal deal for two. It includes a shared appetizer, out of about half a dozen choices. We choose the fried cheese sticks, and they came with breaded cheese curds. What a nice combo. For an entree, each person can choose a different entree from about eight choices. I had the gyros, and it was just great. The entree came with a side. Again, they were about eight sides to choose from. I had the grilled veggies. They were wonderful. To top off this feast, we able to order one of two desserts to share. The choices were cheesecake or a warm brownie with ice cream & salted caramel. We went with the brownie and left full! Compliment to the microwave that prepared our meal. Ordered fish tacos with rice and beans. Half the refried beans were dried out due to them microwaving it. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but when I tried to eat it, it tasted just like the old ponchos, all you could eat buffet. The fish tacos were so bland unseasoned it really was not worth the calories to try to eat it. After a couple of bites, I just pushed aside. Solidly I do not recommend this place. read more

I love the kitsch aesthetic of the place, takes me back to Bennigan's or Shenanigans. However, service was subpar and the food only mediocre. They have an extensive menu but not a lot jumped out to us. They have some decent brews on tap, but I can't leave a proper review since our server forgot to bring it out. However, I guess points to him since I wasn't charged for it either. We might have had better service if the Logan/Tyson fight wasn't going, but the gathering at the wait stand was likely more reason for our experience. read more

We came here for dinner earlier today and enjoyed it. We were seated on a Sunday at around 5pm during football season immediately and without a reservation, which was nice. Our server, Ezequiel, was awesome & did a great job. They had plenty of big screen TVs too with all of the football games & playoff baseball game on TV. Definitely a good choice for a place to watch the games. The Buffalo wings below tasted more like chipotle sauce wings, but they were very will cooked. I got the stake and the mashed potatoes.i ordered online so not too sure of the ambiance. The steak was great but as far as value it's pretty small for the price compared to other places where you definitely can get more value. Their very fast mashed potatoes were amazing, I'm not huge on cheese and there was a bit much for my taste but I definitely should see people likening it more than me. It was still hot and fresh when it came and was cooked just how I like it which is medium. I didn't get to test the service since it was for delivery and I ordered when I was sick so I couldn't go to the actual restaurant. I've been before however and never had a problem. I'd recommend getting something else unless you really love steak cause it's just not worth the money. Daughter loves a veggie burger so she tried their in-house made veggie burger. Not impressed with it. Wife had a chicken with avocado sandwich. Liked the chicken - the bacon was a bit greasy which made the sandwich kind of disintegrate (fall apart).kind of gooey. Don't know how else to describe it. She ordered their coleslaw which was excellent. Service by Vickie great. Interesting place. So my burger was a 5. The ladies not too happy with their meals. The San Marcos 54th Street Grill is a regular for the wife and I. We love this place. The food is amazing and the prices are definitely excellent for extremely high quality and flavorful eats. And atmosphere and amazing service is what really keeps coming back. Our waitress this night was Ramsey and she was absolutely the best friendly, beautiful (as stated by the wife) funny, cordial and just everything we could hope for in a server. We started with the waffle fries with gringo dip. Always TDF. And Ramsey suggested the Expresso Martini. Who what a great drink. And we diverged from our usual eats and went with Burgers. Wife got All American and I got the Devils Den. What a great time and meal. I really think there is nothing this place has not perfected and made the best I have ever had. Food was decent. Service was actually atrocious.We walked in and 8 servers were all standing around the front talking. Barely acknowledged us. Sat outside waiting at the table for 15 mins before anyone came out (and we had to go in and ask for a server, they were all still sitting around talking). We proceeded to order and then they brought literally one item out at a time. We had to ask for water and napkins 4 times. The server came outside, gave us a water refill, and then went over into the corner of the patio to hit her vape secretly. She then proceeded to sneakily hit her vape next to our table everytime she came out. This place is amazing, from the servers to the bbq beans. When I come here I feel like family and always tended to every 5 minutes. Not to mention they always have thursday night football and if you're not feeling nfl games or tvs at all they have a completely different vibe on the other side (across from the bar area where it is quiet). I was completely confused. Luckily (and strangely) the wait was only 10mins. Our server was friendly and accommodating but I had to ready for at least 2 things and drinks went empty twice. We used to love 54th street but the last 2 times we've went the service is horrible and the food is not very good. This last time we walked out after 20 minutes of no acknowledgment. Servers looked at us multiple times but didn't come over and even get our drink order. My husband had to get up and ask for service then it took even longer so we left. read more

So we use to eat here a fair amount. Loved the variety. The cost for this avg tasting food is astounding. A steak here is $5 dollars more than at The Road House. There limonade cost nearly $6 but hey if you have sensitive teeth and cant do ice. They will charge you a $1 more to take the ice out or better yet not do the effort to put it in. Why you might ask?
