I came in for pain I was experiencing in my lower back. I went from not being able to sit or walk for long periods to a few weeks later not having any pain. The pain was affecting my ability to be active so I can't thank Dr. Rubinstein enough for his work. I have been going to Dr. Gregg for over a decade. He is so kind and easy to work with. The initial x-ray I got showed that I had an extra vertebrae fused in my lower back that was pinching nerve and causing me pain when I walked. After seeing him for a few months this went away for good. I try to make it back once a month, but don't get hassled if I don't. He also helped my husband a few years ago when he was walking painfully hunched over and couldn't lift anything heavy. He went from limping to doing jumping jacks in a few hours. Of course everyone has a different experience and there is rarely people cured in a few hours, but Dr. Gregg has had as coming back all these years. read more

I found this office on yelp as I was far along in my third trimester and was looking for a chiropractor certified with the Webster technique to help with my pelvic pain. ( also be aware that the last time I went to a regular chiropractor was in 2016). I've been in three times and after my second visit the pelvic pain went away and I have about three more visits left till I give birth. I went for an initial exam and thought the practice was terrible. They require you to watch a video and take a facility tour initially that is incredibly time consuming and all about promoting their practice. Then the doctor ordered x-rays, which I didn't think were necessary. It is also more expensive than other practices. He also requires people to attend some wellness seminars on Tuesday nights and is fairly condescending when you mention that Tuesday nights don't work with your schedule. I felt that my visit was 95% useless conversations about how great his practice is and only 5% useful adjustments and stretching. The doctor should spend more time actually listening to patients and looking for ways to help them instead of doing constant self-promotion. read more

I'm updating my review to spread knowledge that I did not have before. Dr. Rubinstein suggested an 18 visit plan for me and required me to get full back x-rays. (Note: I've never been to another chiropractor who couldn't tell what was wrong with my back by just looking at me, or feeling the area). We used up approximately 15 visits within 2 months (Feb - March) before we mutually agreed that the treatment was not working for me. This is mostly my fault, but at the time I was unaware that my insurance only covered 20 visits per year, so imagine my surprise/disappointment when I actually found someone else who helped my back problem, but found out that I could not afford treatment due to my lack of insurance coverage :(. Also, 10 months later, I'm still getting billed for the x-rays, which ended up being useless. read more

I have been there twice. I did not think it was helpful. During both visits, I was forced to watch a DVD video about Chiro, which I think it was just waste of time. During both visits, my contact with Dr. was within 20 sec which does not make me feel better at all. It appears they don't do many of the typical therapies as other chiropractors do. They don't have X ray machine so I have to get my X ray done at another place. The recommendation I got is very different from other Chiropractiors, which makes me wonder about if he knows what he is talking about. After two visits, I would like to give him one more chance to see if this is really helpful, in the end I just could not get myself to go there. read more

I can't recommend this office highly enough!! First of all, the receptionist was so friendly and accommodating when I called for a last minute appointment. They were also very quick to check and explain my insurance coverage, which saved me the stress of wondering if I'd get a surprise bill. I knew before my visit EXACTLY what the service would cost, down to the dollar (to the small extent not covered by insurance, as Dr. Rubinstein is in network with my carrier!). Then they were incredibly patient and understanding when I got caught on the train and ended up being 45 minutes late (!!) for the last appointment of the day - I'm nearly certain any other office would have cancelled my visit but they were so nice and so accommodating. Lastly, and importantly, Dr. Rubinstein was such a professional and really helped me feel at ease and comfortable as he adjusted my neck and back and performed the Webster technique. I SO highly recommend this office to anyone, but especially pregnant women preparing for labor and delivery. I can't wait to go back for my next sessions. read more

2 weeks into my treatment and my daily headaches have stopped completely!!!!! That is such a good sign to me. I still have the lower back pain, but since going to my OBGYN, I'm thinking that my lower back pain might also be attributed to another issue I have going on inside. Bottom line is, Dr. Gregg is the best! He tells you what the insurance will cover and puts you on a plan to wellness. I understand some people might not have the money to invest in chiropractic care, but I am actually a BIG believer that it works as I have been seeing a chiropractor (on and off) for close to 20 years. I'm actually completely shocked by some of the terrible reviews on here. I don't find Dr. Gregg or any of his staff to be fake or scammers. I actually always leave the office in good spirits because they truly are a nice group of people! So far, I continue to see improvements each week. I even noticed that my skin is brighter! Dr. Gregg holds seminars to inform his patients, not to sell anything. He's in business to help correct spines. He emphasizes the importance of caring for your body! Proper care, proper rest, proper release of stress, and no drugs to help. One of my favorite doctor's in the world (Dr. Naditch) was a lot like Dr. Gregg in his holistic approach and I absolutely LOVED him! Dr. Naditch was wealthy enough to continue to practice without using insurance companies as he was against the idea of American's being treated with pharmaceuticals and not getting to the root of the problem, which is rest and care for your physical body. I sadly had to stop seeing him as I need insurance to cover my care. I was pleased to find out that my insurance covered quite a lot of visits to the Chiropractor, so I'm psyched! Extreme mid-back and one-sided rib pain brought me to Dr. Rubinstein as I was entering my third trimester of pregnancy. I had never before been to a chiropractor, and as a first time mom, I was very concerned about engaging in any kind of activities that I thought could potentially harm my baby; I researched a number of providers in both in Manhattan and Northern NJ, and decided on Dr. Rubinstein -- it turned out to be the best decision for me. The rib pain I was feeling was having a huge impact on my day-to-day life -- but after my very first visit, the pain had already begun to subside. My pain decreased by 50% or more after the first week. Of course, I kept it up -- seeing Dr. Rubinstein 3X the first week, then 2X the next week or two before switching to a weekly schedule, at which point pain was minimal on a day-to-day basis but would creep back from time to time (as can be the case with many pregnancy ailments!). As my back and rib situation improved, Dr. Rubinstein began educating me on the Webster Technique, which helps to ensure the baby is in an optimum position for labor -- this was important to me as I am very much hoping for a vaginal birth with as few interventions as possible. I have continued to see him for this reason throughout my third trimester. Today I am 3 days from my due date, my baby is well positioned (head down/occiput anterior), and I continue to have no back or rib pain. For me the most important quality in a chiropractor was someone who is properly trained in treating pregnant women and had the proper equipment (e.g. his table drops down to make room for your belly) -- Dr. Rubinstein fulfilled these requirements and also brought me great relief at a time in which I was asking myself "how am I ever going to last another 10 weeks like this?" and even considered taking an early maternity leave. I would recommend Dr. Rubinstein to anyone in need of chiropractic care -- especially expecting moms. read more

I had been experiencing frequent bouts of lower back tightness and pain that sometimes prevented me from sleeping. I had never been to a chiropractor before, so I was sceptical when a colleague suggested that I give it at try and recommended Dr. Gregg's practice. I made an appointment and came in the next day. Everyone at the office was super nice, so much in fact that I can understand how some New Yorkers, who are accustomed to gruff impersonal service from medical office staff, might find it somewhat unusual at first, but honestly, they're just awesome people. My first visit involved me watching a short video explaining what exactly Chiropractic care is and what one should expect during a treatment. This was followed by a thorough examination and consultation with Dr. Gregg, who explained everything in great detail. I then was sent to another office to have x-rays taken. Another reviewer wrote that she found this off-putting and unnecessary, however it seems pretty self-explanatory to me that he'd need to have a clear picture of the state of one's spine before beginning treatment as aggravating a spinal cord injury could leave someone paralyzed or worse. The next day I went back for my first adjustment. Dr. Gregg was patient and explained everything he was doing, so that I felt comfortable and relaxed. Afterwards, we discussed my treatment plan, including working things out with my insurance to minimize my out-of-pocket costs which was definitely appreciated. Dr. Gregg was completely honest about how long it would take before my pain subsided; after all, I had lived with the pain for years so I couldn't expect it to go away overnight. After about 3 weeks of adjustments, my pain had substantially been reduced and my health in general was better. Seeing good results, I decided to stick with the treatment plan and am happy to say that eventually all of the tightness and pain completely disappeared. After my treatment plan was through, I decided to sign up for biweekly maintenance adjustments (with the option to come more often if needed or wanted) for a very reasonable monthly fee. Dr. Gregg and his staff have been extremely flexible and accommodating with regards to scheduling and work hard to make getting adjusted a quick and simple process. I am normally in and out of the office in less than 15 minutes. Unlike most medical professionals I've encountered, Dr. Gregg takes the time to really get to know you and treats you like family. If you are someone who takes their health and well-being seriously and are aware that real healing requires an investment of both time and money, I would highly recommend Dr. Gregg. If on the other hand you are looking for a quick-fix, you will be disappointed. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the care I've received and am very glad that I took my colleague's advice. My family & I have stayed healthy by going to 57th Street Chiropractic for over 3 years now and it has been a positive healing process keeping us strong and pain free. Knowing the benefits of keeping my nervous & skeletal system strong I was glad to have found chiropractic care that not only educated us on all things holistic for our benefit, but has allowed us to work with a doctor that truly cares. I didn't hesitate to continue seeing Dr. Rubinstein having read all the benefits of chiro care during pregnancy. Pregnancy takes it's toll as weight gain is pressing on the spine, among other things, and it was the best choice for me and our baby to stay as healthy as possible during this precious time. Now, as part of my continued health care, and the care of our precious daughter, Dr. Rubinstein also works with her and she's remained strong and healthy since seeing him at 6 weeks old. She is now 8 months and vibrant & healthy as can be. It's the kind of pediatric care she needs and deserves. She responds well to being in his care and enjoys the process. Being aligned and feeling her best, considering how much she plays and twists and turns, falls when learning to stand/walk, and may sleep a bit compromised in her crib or stroller - is important for her to continue to grow healthy by having regular adjustments. We like to keep illness at bay, avoiding medication as much as possible, and we all get the best care at 57th Street Chiropractic. Dr. Rubinstein and his staff have become like family, which is so great in this busy and chaotic city when visiting a doctor's office. We continue to work along side the doctor in keeping illness at bay with regular visits and his continued education on all things that are important to us and our health. I found Dr. Rubinstein because he was one of the only chiropractors trained in infant adjustments. Our son had several digestive issues and after a tongue and lip tie revision, our specialist recommended visiting a chiropractor that could alleviate some of the tension in the neck and shoulders. Dr. Gregg was kind, patient and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything he was doing and his approach to long term health. After each visit our son slept like a log. Terrible practice. He's a scammer, and extremely pushy and fake. He didn't help my condition at all. Seeing Greg was a waste of my time and a waste of my money, and I regret that I was fooled. He's also a very inappropriate guy. He used a gay slur in my presence when describing living in NYC and the types of people you encounter on the train. He was also having serious problems with his staff, and for several weeks, it seemed as though he was shuffling through them because they constantly kept changing and new people kept disappearing. Dr. Rubinstein and his staff are wonderful! They give you personal attention, are very professional and make you feel very comfortable from the minute you walk in the door. When my daughter was 3.5 months old, our pediatrician diagnosed her with torticollis, a condition in which there is a tightened neck muscle on one side of her neck, which gives her little range of motion and causes her head to lean to one side. I was recommended to a physical therapist, but was not seeing any results. I needed to constantly do stretching exercises with her and was not supposed to lay her on her back... so I would just have to carry her all day long. When she was about 5 months old, we decided to try a different treatment. I found Dr. Rubinstein online and I'm glad I did. From the very beginning he was very patient and understanding with us. He understands what a big deal it is to place your infant in someone's care. I was very skeptical at first, but he eased our concerns by answering any and all questions we had and explaining the science behind each of his techniques. My daughter absolutely loves him! He is very gentle with her and he always works with me there, to make her feel secure. He was very upfront, telling us she might start seeing results in as little as a few weeks or it could take months... it all depended on her body. Well, after about a month or so, she was doing almost 100% better! She has great range of motion, has no problems rolling, crawling, turning her head, etc. And, the best part is that I didn't need to do a thing at home... no stretching, exercises, etc. I keep telling Dr. R that he cured her, but he keeps telling me that her body did it...he just helped it along. I'm so glad we chose to take the chiropractic route and that we chose Dr. Rubinstein. He is truly passionate about his work and is excellent with his patients. He is open, honest, understanding and patient. He treats my daughter as his own family - and so does his entire staff. I started visits at 28 weeks pregnant due to pain in my pubic bone and around my SI joints. Dr. Gregg advised me that pubis symphysis can persist and not to get my hopes up too high. Nevertheless within 2 weeks the pain had lessened dramatically. I was surprised since in that time I had even traveled to Europe and back on a busy trip and expected my body to suffer. Instead I had great energy. I'm continuing treatment and generally feel tension release all over as well as deeper sleeping. Have found chiropractic more helpful than PT. read more

I saw him for two months and saw no improvement in my condition. Furthermore, I felt extremely uncomfortable after attending his mandatory class, which included a lot of anti-medicine propaganda, in my opinion. He kept saying that patients needed to scrutinize what medical professionals are telling you, which I do agree with, however he then launched into how medical professionals and pharmaceuticals lie to you about conditions that chiropractors can easily treat or prevent. While I respect his opinion, I disagree and was made to listen to his speech without question or comment. Some of the things he said absolutely enraged me or were scientifically false. Other patients would be wise to scrutinize the research he presents to make his point (I found holes IMMEDIATELY) before following this belief blindly. His bedside manner made me a little tense, too. He was over familiar and it was awkward. The women up front are really lovely, however I also found myself confused by the insurance process at this practice, which somehow left me paying several hundred dollars out of pocket, which my insurance has decided not to reimburse. Chiropractic is a process. It's not a quick fix. You have to trust it, keep it up and let it work. If you go to a chiropractor and expect to get immediate relief, you don't get it. Having put my trust in Dr. Gregg for several years now, I really do feel better. I have far less physical pain and I rarely get sick. Admittedly, I take care of myself in other ways too, but I look at it as part of my wellness routine. If you like the kind of chiropractor that cracks you hard and vigorously, you won't like Dr. Gregg. He's gentle and there's love in his touch. His office staff is always friendly and flexible. If I need an extra adjustment or I need to come later or earlier, I never have any trouble scheduling it. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that I don't have that much of a basis of comparison. Anyway, if you are willing to give chiropractic a go, try Dr. Gregg.
