Dr. Jay is an extremely knowledgeable doctor with great communication skills. He has been able to translate his diagnosis of what I had going on effectivly, making it easy for me to understand the issues I had with my back and what we would do to correct these issues. He is super empathetic and has very good manual coordination. Believe it or not, I have been to several Chiropractors who just were not that great with their hands. I have been here several times since my last review and I'm still happy but the physical therapists vary in quality. The PT named Matthew is the only one who is worth seeing in this office, out of the three PTs I have seen so far. Matthew is really caring and into his job, and uses innovative techniques to help my pain. The other two PTs I have seen here seem like they are trying to rush me out. Last time, after the deep massage by the very good massage guy, I got a weak massage by the aloof physical therapist for 2 minutes. I don't know what was the point of that half assed attempt. I visited this office twice. The first time, Dr. Farren adjusted my spine and the PT portion of the visit consisted of someone using a Theragun massage gun on me - there was no manual massage and no questions asked about my symptoms during "PT". I could have used a Theragun at home. The second time I came here, Dr. Farren spoke to me in the waiting area, I did not even get to go back into his office, though a visit with him was the reason for my co-pay. The PT again consisted of someone using a Theragun on me. The office was super crowded and it felt like a mill trying to cram in as many people as possible. After seeing Dr. Farren, I went to a different chiropractor who actually took the time to examine me and ask for x-rays - it was discovered that I have a pinched nerve and herniated disk in my neck. I do not think this would have been diagnosed in Dr. Farren's office. read more

I have to say that I am very impressed by Dr. Farren! His office is very clean, conveniently located in the financial district and has extremely friendly staff. I have been to him now numerous times and I keep returning. I have even tried out other chiropractors in the city but nothing has compared to the knowledgeable people at his office. Not only do you get a chiropractic adjustment by Dr. Farren, you also get seen by a masseuse and a physical therapist. I barley ever have to wait and I am always able to make appointments last minute when my back in pain. They are very accommodating. I woke up with a stiff neck and shoulder and scheduled an appointment for right after work that day. They are open until 7pm on the weekdays which makes it convenient that those to work late. When I met Dr Farren, I had already seen an emergency room doctor, a nurse practitioner, and a general practice doctor. I was barely able to walk; I was in a tremendous amount of pain, and the meds were making difficult to focus and stay awake at work. Dr Farren and his staff (especially PT with Nabil) worked to relieve my pain, restore my posture / walking, and understand what had caused this miserable condition in the first place. This was my first ever chiropractic visit. Of the two office visit with James, his consultation and adjustment of my neck and spine lasted a total 5 minutes or less and rushed me out. He explains in a general sense what is happening with the joints/bones but did not offer a long term solution of how to correct and prevent such injury. There was no examination of the full body in either of the two visits. Aside from an immediate quick fix, I would avoid James Farren. Since the visits I have been going to a different chiropractor where in the initial visit, there was an x-ray & flexibility test done, and full explanation of the results. Kura Chiropractic is definitely one of the best in the city. I been to many chiropractors over the years because of my scoliosis. Recently I injured my tail bone badly and was in a tremendous amount of pain. I made an appointment with Dr. James Farren. When meeting with Dr. Farren I found with to be very thorough with had a wonderful bedside manner about himself. After 3 or so visits I was pain free. I've been seeing Dr. Farren since December 2016. I had a whiplash incident. I couldn't sleep due to severe neck pain and it was effecting me in a profound way. Dr. Farren has been healing me one session at a time and now I can finally get a good night's sleep. You know how chiropractors have a rep of being scam artists? Well Dr. Farren and his PTs are the epitome of scam artists. My good friend has a chiropractor who she claims is a magician so I figured I would try one out. I saw Dr. Farren for some hip pain, mainly because he is close to my office and takes my insurance. Dr. Farren cracked my back and my neck, and then asked me if my hip was better. Ummmm no! Then he sent me to his PT who, I can't be 100% sure is actually a licensed PT. I'd be shocked if she was honestly. She was clearly just making stuff up on the fly without giving any thought to my problem area or what the root cause is. The girl had me do about 3 weird and unhelpful stretches and sent me on my way. I was out in 10 minutes. I feel bad that I wasted my time and money but if you can believe it, I even feel bad that my insurance co. paid this guy. Only go here if you want your back and neck cracked as I'm pretty sure that is all Dr. Farren can do. read more

Highly recommended! Dr. James Farren and his team are a blessing. I was going through a terrible pain that had to drop off college and had to stop working because I couldn't take it anymore. Drinking about 6 pain killers a day to a total of 3,000 mg and the pain wasn't going anywhere, having to go get shots for the pain and anything was helping me. Going to other doctors that used to say I didn't have anything even though it showed in the MRI's. The bottom line is that after just a few visits, I feel so much better. My experience has been that each member of the staff who I see during an office visit is genuinely caring, talented and knowledgeable. The adjustments are excellent. Dr. Farren spent a while during my initial visit asking me questions about what was bothering me and physically examining my neck and back, then he explained what he thought was going on (using a model of a spine to illustrate what he was saying), and then he described what was causing my pain AND how he was going to treat it. It all made sense. In each follow up visit, Dr. Farren asked detailed questions about how I felt to help him tailor that visit.The PT showed me stretches that have helped immensely (he also gave me a thorough explanation of the causes of the problems I'm having and a very sensible description of how he would alleviate them using PT). The message therapist is incredibly talented-both intuitive AND knowledgeable. I'm really pleased that my co-worker recommended Dr. Farren. This is by far the best chiropractic office I've been to.
