Mother's Day is supposed to be a memorable occasion but not to the extent that that the management allows a large party adjacent to our family's table to become obnoxious, rude and taut my 85 year old parents. Suffice it to say for over 45 mins we had to endure their bolstering loud talking and when we politely asked them to lower their voices they came back with derogatory remarks (children present)! Speaking to management was no help and down right appalling that they in fact looked the other way and sided with the large party which at that point my family inferred that they were good friends or customers and would allow such behavior. To put this in greater context as a business traveler to all parts of the world never have I experienced terrible terrible terrible treatment to my family and regret making dinner reservations at 59 Almshouse. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food as we decided to walk out and never return as dining patrons. It was not a joyous evening as we imagined and the children in our family were upset. Manners matter and treat your customers with equal respect! Sidenote: I doubt to read an excerpt noting an apology from Bruce W. as frankly management severely dropped the ball and there are no sustainable excuses. Food looked a smelled good, but I was only meeting someone there for an afternoon drink. Pretty good beer selection and decent cocktail menu. The inside is nice and they have a patio out front with a fire pit when it's not too cold. The atmosphere was relaxed and crowd was pleasant. The afternoon bartender was friendly as was the owner who made my delicious smoked old fashion. So why only three stars? The evening bartender was clearly not happy that we were not ordering anything else. It was still early in the evening around 6ish and it was starting to get busy, but we are customers too. Stopped by late afternoon on a Sunday, there were about 3 others at the bar, and it took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the bartender. He then obtained my wife's dink without asking for my order. Eventually we received our drinks. The margarita was marginal, I ordered a draft beer. The food menu looks impressive, but on a first visit I decided on a bowl of clam chowder, and their Almshouse Burger. My wife decided on a bowl of three squash soup and a cheeseburger. The soup came in rather large servings, but was bland. The chowder had no flavor, the squash tasted like pumpkin puree. Our burgers were small, and lacked any seasoning. Mine was dry ( ordered medium), my wife's was almost rare (ordered medium). The Almshouse Burger is supposed to come with a fried egg. The egg was overcooked. Not a good first impression. read more

I had an excellent experience at 59 Almshouse. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the grilled wings, the short ribs, flat breads, crab cakes, edamame, sliders. The owner Michael is a gracious host and his Head Chef Dave is equally as nice. The ambience is rustic modern. The bar area is amazing with a nice selection of draft beers. We feel fortunate to have the ability to drive here and enjoy dinner or drinks (or both) in 7 minutes. Spoiled is an understatement. We love this place, every meal we've enjoyed except one and there was nothing wrong with the food, the dish sounded better than it turned out to be, just a bad call that night. The chef is great. He is creating very good Asian inspired fusion. The service is great. The bars is comfortable and they have an impressive selection of beer on tap. Very clean, very neat. Summertime on the back deck is a very nice way to wind down. Never a bad choice in our opinion and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

We had lunch brought to us from this place for a luncheon. I ordered the French Onion soup which was meh. I've had better. When it was delivered half of my soup had spilled out. Had dinner here 3 weeks ago food good a little over priced. Service was very slow but new waitress. Spent 150 dollars there last night for 4 course New Years dinner. What a waste of money. The decor is awesome and I love the outdoor patio with the fireplace. However, the dining area inside is a little loud. The food is fantastic. I ordered the west coast grilled chicken sandwich which was flavorful and well cooked. The bun was exceptional. After waiting a while for our reservation we decide to get a drink at the bar. The bartender was not only professional but very personable as well. She Made us feel welcome. We decided to stay at the bar because she was so kind to us. Honestly it was a better time. I believe her name was tara. I give only four stars because of the issue with our reservation. We happened to drive by this restaurants in Richboro and saw that they had outdoor seating and with it being a beautiful day, we thought we would give it a try. This restaurant used to be the old Pantagonia but has had some great updates. We were seated outside by the bar. Our waitress came promptly over and took our drink order. She then gave us time to look over the menu. When she returned she apologized for being a little late because she had a large party in the other room. The waitress was very sweet and attentive so we did not mind at all. The food came out hot and delicious. Burger was cooked perfectly and my husbands Italian chicken sandwich was moist and tender. Dinner was great, we had a party of four. Shared appetizers (the table loved the bacon sampler) Soup and salads portion sizes were good. Service and timing of food was spot on. Pasta made on site was great, Sweet potato burger had excellent flavor and the right size. BBQ Chicken flatbread pizza done perfectly! Brisket sandwich was big enough to take some home. Chocolate chip cookie dessert baked to order was really good! As we left (8pm saturday night) bar area was lively and filling up and dining room was just about full. Me and my beautiful girlfriend were present at 59 Almshouse on the afternoon of August the 6th where we came across a buffalo chicken flatbread that unfortunately gave our taste buds a sour feel. I am not one to give bad reviews so this hurts my heart to be typing right now. I am deeply saddened by the experience I had here as I could not fall asleep last night due to the thought of my precious green bills being wasted. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing our waitress was ! It's my first time here and the atmosphere and the food was great!!! I got the Winston Burger , a little messy, and sweet potatoes fries. I was not disappointed at all. My fiancé told the waitress he wanted something light that wasn't salad and she said if you trust me I will put something in and bring it out to you . Really bummed about this place. The atmosphere is pretty cool. Seems like a cool place to grab a drink. The food is also really good. But the service is ridiculously horrible. Our reservation was at 6:30! We didn't get seated until 7. It took a very long time for our food to come out. We didn't leave until 9:15 (and not because we were just chatting and having a good time). Also, the staff seemed very flustered. I went on a Monday night when it wasn't that busy. Their stress ended up getting directed at us. The staff made us feel like an inconvenience. I'd understand a lot more if we were being difficult and/or it was busy, but that wasn't the case. I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon, if at all. The food is the only saving grace of this place, but there are many good restaurants In the area I'll go to instead. read more

Planned a couples night out with old friends. One of the wives suggested Almshouse and I immediately went to their website and Yelp. Was sold immediately. Food: Overpriced, and granted everything is expensive during this tough time but seriously this was nothing special. Ordered guacamole that was legit a half an avocado with chips and no seasonings. Followed by Buffalo wings that were dry, then my gf ordered a salad that was $25... a salad..... did they grow the lettuce in gold? This salad was priced like it was from capital grill. Then we got margaritas that were good but $15 for maybe a $10 margarita. I've had better margaritas for $8. Just subpar and I hate to write a review about a local business but if you're spending this kind of money go to Rocco's at the brick and thank me later. I don't understand what they hype is about this place. My parents went recently as well, had I have known their experience I wouldn't of went at all. Long table waits and take out when ever they decide!? The customer service just isn't up to par with the surrounding restaurants. Terrible from beginning to end. We made a reservation and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Many other woolen were visibly upset and some ended up leaving. It was clear the hostesses did not know what they were doing. The apps were OK. Drinks were OK. Our entrees were awful. We each ordered different sandwiches and 2 out of 4 needed to be sent back because they were wrong. My friends burger was still cooked wrong after it came back the second time. My crab cake sandwich was just not good. The bill was $150 which I thought was ridiculous for 2 apps, 4 drinks and 4 sandwiches!! We will not be returning!! read more

Shady place, totally lied to a large group which had a confirmed a reservation in advance. At the time we checked in they told our party tables could not be guaranteed. This was not communicated to us at the time the reservation. When the reservation was made we were told they couldn't guarantee everyone could sit together. I thought about not posting a review but after having 2 bad experiences at this restaurant I feel it is necessary. To start, 2 friends and I had a 6pm reservation on a Friday evening. We had to wait a little to be seated but ok not the worst. When we were seated our waitress promptly came to take our drink order. After ordering our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Problem is, after that our waitress did not return for 40 minutes..at least. Didn't come back to the table to see how everything was or if we needed anything. We didn't have any water to drink at this point and noone came back. When she did finally show in our area she was waiting on the table behind us and was clearly annoyed at having to get them drinks (obvious by how she stormed off) when she did return to our table we asked for more water and she asked if we needed anything else. My friend asked for a dessert and boxes for our food to take home. After returning with our requests my friend asked for our check. We have already been sitting there in total over an hour with no service so we figured we better ask for it . After the waitress returned and said thank you we continued to sit there for about a minute before I noticed 2 staff looking over at us. Within a minute someone rudely came over and told us we had 5 minutes to leave. We couldn't believe how rude this was. I guess we were being punished for sitting to long even though we had no service. Manager didn't care either. Another night I asked to move our table because I had specifically made a reservation for 2 not at a high table. Guess where I was seated?? The hostess was so annoyed I asked to change my table. A real gem in Richboro! I've passed this place quite a few times, and decided to stop here for a late lunch. Suprised in how nice this place was, they were having a party on one side of the restaurant and we were seated outside as it was a beautiful day out. Very modern bar area and nice outdoor seating. Spin on your traditional bar food, which by the way was was very delicious! We ordered Fruit and Brie platter, hummus plate, and margarita pizza. Absolutely delicious! Amazed on the portions and the freshness of the food, farm to table. Only thing that prevented me for giving it 5 stars was the service, our waiter was slow and took forever for him to serve us our food and drinks. This place is very easy to miss or forget about for some reason, but do yourself a huge favor and try it out. We've been driving by it for the past few months and kept saying we needed to try it, we finally did this past Sunday and it is definitely one of our new go to places. The atmosphere is great, the outdoor bar/patio is the best, though Almshouse Rd. is right there you barely notice, its very warm and inviting!! The indoor bar area looks really nice too, large and open - will be checking that out once the colder weather hits! Looks like a good place to watch the games on Sundays! Service was fantastic, we sat at the bar and Tim the bartender took care of us. He was extremely friendly, made very honest and wonderful recommendations and was a joy to talk to! The whole staff seemed very friendly! We started with some cocktails, their special cocktail list is great and we enjoyed the blood orange cosmos! Peeking at their wine list it looks extensive too, as does the draft list. Definitely something for everyone. The menu is pretty large, but not overwhelming. I had a very hard time choosing what to have since everything looked delicious, not a bad problem to have! Ended up with mussels in a white sauce (watch out they do have a kick to them) and would recommend, the poutine (the small size is huge so be careful!), the filet which was so surprisingly tender, and the sticky rice bowl with shrimp on Tim's suggestion. The rice bowl was unlike anything I've ever had and was amazing - the flavors were so tasty but didn't overwhelm the very fresh veggies and tasty shrimp! Do not skip over this!!! After being sat our waitress neglected to return to the table after bringing over waters. When speaking to the manager he was rude and rose his voice.
