Stopped in for lunch and the restaurant was packed! Apparently, everyone knows how fabulous this place is! With its exposed brick walls and comfy booths, this is such a cozy restaurant! You are greeted warmly at the door and service is so friendly as well. My husband had the club sandwich with shoestring fries, as well as the homemade soup of the day, turkey vegetable with couscous pearls and he loved both! I had the Reuben and it was good but the corned beef was too fatty and tough for my taste. I'll have the fried green tomato sandwich the next time! Food is quite inventive and creative here, with ingredients you're unlikely to see at other local restaurants. They've begun to offer dinner as well and we plan to give that a try soon. This is a quaint and cozy little restaurant space in the downtown area of Jasper. They have outside seating which looked inviting, but I sat at the bar and had the Reuben with sweet potato fries. What a delight! Right in town. A warm friendly place. Our waitress was amazing!! I got the Grammy, which is three little sandwiches on a tiny bun. As a vegetarian they had egg salad and pimento cheese (also had chicken salad i think). the egg salad was good, the pimento cheese would out of this world. a little kick and so nice. Was traveling when we found this wonderful restaurant. The dinner menu although small had a good variety of fresh offerings I selected the trout with the home made grits. We tripped over this gem while we were traveling back to TN from GA. Apparently we were pretty lucky as Monday is the only night they are open for dinner. Nice relaxed atmosphere, great food and service. Monday has a small menu, modestly priced, but the selection is good, farm to table fresh so it changes often. They are only open for lunch certain days and only do dinner on Mondays, so check the web site or call to make sure they are open. read more

The Georgian lobster shrimp roll was tasty but i could have skipped the croissant. On that note, salads might be the way to go. I ordered the corn soup, which was savory with a basil oil. Skip the desserts. I had the first slice from the carrot cake and it was dry and the frosting was lackluster. Coffee was great from a local roaster. Although the lunch special pot pie was small in size, it was delicious. They served it in the small loaf pan it was baked in so it had a crunchy top. The side I chose was Brussel sprouts and they were about the best I have ever had. It would have been great to have a small biscuit on the side to sop up the gravy. This was so on time! My girl & I were in town for my best friend's wedding at the Tate House. Luckily we found an Airbnb near by, but just needed some food. This place had good reviews and we were hungry....LET'S GO! We both had sandwiches that came with the 'side of the day'. It was a pasta (I can't recall the name or specifics) and it was yummy! We chose it because of the ingredients and they came through; you could taste the love. Our server was a friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Oh, we got desert to go..... winning! I got carrot cake and she got the GA Pecan Pie. I'm a carrot cake connoisseur and this one made it to the top! My girl is a pecan pie fiend and she thought this one was okay. What a gem of a restaurant in downtown Jasper! We came for the Monday night supper which was a superb and very hearty home cooked meal for only $13. The meal came with generous servings of a drink, entree, side, cornbread AND dessert. I was also impressed at how many different entree options there were. I opted for a grilled Georgia mountain trout and it was delectable. Texture was perfect and the light sauce on top was on point. I also really enjoyed a sausage and potato soup as well as their cornbread (super moist). The menu is always changing so I'll definitely be back! Icing on the cake was that the service was excellent. Everything from making the reso to the actual service during the meal was impeccable and friendly. I was visiting the area for a week and arrived on a Monday afternoon. I found the Monday night supper, called and they could fit me in (they sell out every week!) I can't begin to describe how delicious it was! Each entree was $15 and included sides and desert and CORNBREAD!! So, I had 3 entrees! I hadn't eaten all day and after traveling was ready to enjoy a wonderful farm to table dinner! Every bite was delicious and was paired with a nice Malbec! Service was extremely attentive and they worked as a team to make sure no glass was every less than half full. I highly recommend and will be back this week for lunch with friends coming into town. A nice alternative to The Carriage House. Since we recently moved to the area, we've made it a point to try each and every place that is unique to the area. I think it's a nice way to meet new people and see what people think is good to eat. That being said, we've gone to The Carriage House for breakfast twice now, and that's because my navigator neglects to find something in-time once we do our normal Saturday morning routine. Well, on this Saturday morning, she entered the coordinates into her pocking computing device with time to spare, and we ended up at 61Main instead. We arrived at the end of normal breakfast service and the place was still quite busy. I'll admit that this end of the Main Street never clicked in my brain as having another restaurant. I freely admit that we are new to this area, and I wish we had come to this restaurant sooner. We were seated immediately, which was nice considering the small crowd inside. Once seated, we were handed a little menu with the day's offerings, and it covers a nice spread to accommodate most palates, but is very simple and tidy. If you are looking for a menu similar to the Awful House, then you are **** out of luck it seems. We got out food and I was surprised at the complexity of the dish that I had ordered. The menu didn't give away quite the flavors that I was about to stuff my face with. Now, I'll be honest... I haven't been able to taste correctly since I was afflicted by COVID almost six months ago, but this meal was a nice change. It actually had flavor that I could taste, and it was much appreciated. The ladyfriend commented that her meal was quite tasty as well, which is a thumbs-up in my book. She is routinely very honest with me once we walk out the front door, and her comment was something along the lines of "We can come back here". I feel bad for not finding this place sooner. Will it replace our occasional hankerin' for The Carriage House? No, but it's nice to have options when you want something a little more unique. A nice change of pace if you will. read more

Rating really a 4.5! We had the occasion to travel to Jasper, finished our business just before noon. We checked Yelp and found this restaurant. It's right in the heart of the business district. The time was just before noon and there were only two table available. We didn't expect to see as many people in the restaurant. The restaurant had a regular menu and also a menu with the specials of the day. My companion had a steak & ouzu(?) salad with a side of field peas. The salad didn't look too good but she said it was quite tasty and the peas were great. I had a Waldorf salad with chicken (small portion) and a side of their mac & cheese. The small portion of the salad was just right. I wasn't too impressed with the mac & cheese when it came out but it sure tasted good! It was of the thicker, drier type. They also have a desert menu. We had a piece of carrot cake and a fabulous Pecan Pie with cream on top! Decadent! So rich could only eat about a third! Great place to stop if you are in the Jasper area! read more

I live in Cherokee, but I frequently go to 61 Main for lunch. The food is so good! I especially love the daily lunch special. Something new everyday - upscale dishes. And all of the specials I have had have been delicious! I usually go on Wednesdays. That seems to be the day that the special is seafood/fish. With a price of $11 for an entree, side and drink it can't be beat! Definitely recommend! read more
