The 621 is a staple on the North Shore. This is an old school restaurant and bar located in Malden. We don't usually get appetizers but the nachos are our favorite. For our main dish, we always get the chicken Marsala. This is one of the better pasta dishes we have had. Portions are generous and the price is great. We also always get the steak and cheese calzone. The portion is huge, and the price is right. The service here is always excellent. Ok nice place, has a local fav type vibe to it, square bar in the center, plenty of tv's for viewing and tables and booths. The staff is very friendly we've done take out a few times. We had the Buffalo chicken pizza and I did the real veal and pasta lunch plate. Pricing is very reasonable, good size portions and fresh ingredients, the veal was plentiful and tender. The pizza I think could have been a bit more crispy for my liking but plenty of chicken and cheese, I think it could have had a little less sauce though. Overall a decent option for lunch, a couple of peeps out of our office generally go for dinner and luv it. For me it'll stay in the lunch rotation, I've got to try out a few more of their options. read more

621 is the perfect neighborhood spot to come enjoy some pizza and a beer! Its not fancy by any means but its not meant to be! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service is fantastic. Jessica was our server and she was such a sweetheart. My fiance loved his bacon cheeseburger and we also had a cheese pizza and a Caesar salad pizza. The quality and amount of food you get for the price can't be beat! Highly recommend. Went into this place a few days ago just to order takeout with my service dog! For context I have a seizure condition and my dog is a real service animal. A few minutes go by as we patiently wait at the front and the owner of the place comes over to me and is extremely confrontational about my dog being in his restaurant. I explained he is a service dog and I just want to order to go he then asks for my dogs paperwork which is illegal in Massachusetts by the way. But I show him anyway, because I just want to order food and take it to leave. He then says one of his staff will help me about 2 minutes later a nice older woman comes by and takes my order. I take my dog on a short walk and come back for the food. When I came back I was told he was asking people about a "guy with a dog" from other guests outside... I enter the restaurant and waited patiently I got my food paid for it and left. I live about a 4 minute walk from the restaurant. I get home and try the food and it's mediocre at best. ribs with barely any sauce and steak tips I should of just given my dog. I work in fine dining so I know exactly what it means to make a guest feel welcomed and taken care of but this was the exact opposite! safe to say I won't be dining here in the future. This was a horrible experience. If you own a restaurant you should know exactly how to treat this situation he's quite lucky I don't have the time or energy to make this much worse. read more

I would give 621 Tavern n' Grille a rating of 621 stars for portion and price. Let's peep things out with some deets: Is this a fancy place? No, it ain't. Is this gourmet food? No, it ain't. Is this a great place to hog out? Hell yeah! I got the Fish Tacos and they were wicked humongous. Moey got the Chicken Parm and it was wicked humongous too. The menu is quite extensive here and prices are unbeatable (cheap). A rarity for today's world, aye? Admittedly, the food is hardly gourmet, but my Fish Tacos were nevertheless yummy AF. These here tacos were prepared "Malden Style" as opposed to Tex Mex or Baja style, etc. Really just slaw and some sort of green Boo-Boo Sauce blopped on top. Not a bad thing because this is real American food for real Americans here. Moey's Chicken Parm was legit. Best of all no "healthy options" like vegan crap and gluten-free garbage. This here food is meant to induce kankles and thunder thighs not skinny physiques. Good stuff here, folks. Eat up. The waitress was wicked nice. It is a fun place to hang with a million TVs with sports on all (No PBS Mozart flute recitals or documentaries, etc.). They have Keeno too. Have dined here 2 dozen times and each time the service and food is excellent. Each time we try different dinners but the chef amazes us. Last week we ordered pizza after trying almost everything on the menu and it was light, fresh ingredients and out of this world. We strongly recommend the 621. The servers and staff are well taken care of by the owner. You can see it in the happy vibe in the room. Even when crowded during rush hour we can quickly get a table cleared to sit down. read more

This is a local hangout. Don't come here expecting gourmet Italian or steaks. It's decent, service is friendly. Soda is not refillable so beware. Ordered one half cheese and half pepperoni pizza and one onion pizza to go. When I got home, I see I received the half cheese and pepperoni and instead of onion, I received a cheese pizza. I called restaurant and spoke to manager who was very ignorant. He said to bring cheese back. I told him I had company and wasn't going all the way back. He said that was only option. I paid for the onion. I told him I was going to leave a bad review. His answer was, "you're not the first to do that". Shame on their customer service. All over onions! Manager was rude and ignorant. What's not to love? Nobody beats 621 in pricing for portion...NOBODY. They are extremely generous (even with drinks) and you just have to think for a local spot that's been serving the community for years.....it takes a HUGE effort to deliver consistent goodness on a daily basis. I have been here many, many times. Pizza is wonderful, but my favorite dish BY FAR is the fish tacos off the Specials menu. Comes with 3 LOADED soft tacos. If you want the fisherman's platter, but you're really only getting it for the fried fish....just get the fish tacos and thank me later. Service is always patient and speedy, despite high traffic. I would say probably some of the worst costumer service I have ever experienced. Now I understand that it can be busy and staff is often short staffed but to give someone an attitude about how short staffed you are while serving 3 mixed drinks to the table that sat down behind 15 mins after us is inexcusable. I would not recommend to anyone, I will make it a point to leave negative reviews on all apps! First time there. On a Monday filled with locals. Looked like a fun crowd. Got the blue pots special which was chicken teriyaki with rice pilaf. Was good and you can't beat the price. With a soft drink and the meal it was just under $10. Will have to visit later on in the day. Worth it read more

This is a good place to have a meal or sit at the bar. They have T.V.'s visible for everyone and Keno. The bar is usually packed even during lunch on a weekday. It seems to be a lot of regulars but it's a good crowd and lowkey atmosphere. The drinks are so-so; personally I like sticking with beer here as some of their mixed drinks come out too sugary. As for the food... They have a little of everything here but not everything is good. A little history lesson for you newbies to Malden, you know who you are, you double income no kids who gentrified the shit out of my city and drove rents through the roof. The 621 was formerly the Roadside, which I washed dishes at as a kid here, this place has one of the biggest and best menus in Malden. There really isn't a bad thing on it either. The one thing that is sneaky amazing in the pizza. I was recently with some friends and we were discussing the best pizza in Malden and this was unanimously the winner. A friend took me for my birthday lunch today - first time there for both of us. Our kind of place - a nice, "dahk bah". Menu and specials choices were amazing, beer frosty-cold. I got the fish tacos and they were just the way I like them - crispy fried flaky fish with slaw and pico de gallo in soft tacos. I couldn't finish all three and I'm stuffed. Service was good even though it was busy. Sauce really good. Calzone was cold inside and cheese not melted. Steak tips were a completely different cut of meat, tough and just didn't taste good. Had to go pick it up & was told about 20 minutes, so I get there & they clearly UNDERSTATED the time, I had to wait in the waiting room which was a bar, where I felt compleltely like the Fat kid who doesnt get picked for Dodge ball in Elementary School... Came back again tonight with the baby. Can I just say this place is the best! Not only do they have delicious food but they are accommodating to large parties, small parties and new parents like us who just want to get out of the house and have a good meal with an infant. lol sound personal, but true. Waited over an hour for a pizza that never came. Management was not helpful with the matter.

A group of us went there last night. I heard the turkey tips were delicious so I ordered them. Five of us did. Our order came. One of my friends turkey tips didn't come because it had burned. They apologized but my friend had to wait until they cooked her another order. To me It's excruciating to sit and watch while everyone else is eating. They should have given her a free salad or something. Meanwhile I am a very slow eater. I didnt notice until 1/4 of the way in that mine were burnt too. The 1st two were overcooked and dry but as I kept eating l flipped the rest over and the burnt was on the underside. Hard as charcoal. My only side was mashed potatoes. They were tasteless. I brought nothing home. It wasn't worth it. I would've eventually just tossed them in the trash. If I go there again I'll complain right there before shelling out money for burnt food. I've been going to the 621 in Malden for several years and have always enjoyed the service and food/drinks... always... went last week for the first time in 2-3 months and was unpleasantly surprised how the serving size has shrunk. Most notably was the large calzone. A couple just this past late summer/early fall the large calzone fit diagonally in the large pizza box... now sadly it fits vertically/horizontally with tons of space... actually I ordered 2 LG and 1 sm calzone and they fit in one box... just this summer each lg would have it's own box... same price 1/3 the size... VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Probably won't be ordering a calzone anytime soon.... or ever read more
