The third guy noticed there was someone in the store. I peered in and the guy inside waved. I thought the wave was to come in, but the door was still locked. He seemed annoyed and walked around the counter and to the front door. He cracked the door and asked if I wanted anything specific and I said, "not really I just wanted to look around." We forgot to catch his name but we went on a Saturday afternoon and the guy who helped us was so helpful. He let me try on all different duck feet fins, different size, colors. I've been getting back into bodyboarding due to some injuries and Jerrett was a huge help. Wish I had talked with him first instead of seeking advice online. When they tell you that you need a smaller board then it's best to just listen. Leverage is more important than extra size or float especially when it comes to waves with power. The good news is that I still had a really fun winter season despite riding less-than ideal equipment and can still use my big board for fun mushy days. Best variety of fins and boards. Super helpful. They also carried the UDT Duck feet fins in black, orange, and blue. They are so hard to find. I ended up with Da Fin Mark Cunningham special. Saw two guys in there...One Opening boxes of Boards and one behind computer... Both saw us standing and knocking at the door. Was ignored for at least 10 Mins. Went into the store with no "Welcome". Salesperson seating on the seat behind the counter. My nephew wanted to buy a spring wet suit. He wanted to try on an XS. clerk: it look small if he's going to try it on. Me: well we don't know how the sizes run. Clerk: well I don't know too, we just got it in. Wow, wish I would have read the last review by Randy M. before wasting my time coming to this place. Saw their website, which advertised a sale, so thought we'd go in to see what they had in person. First off, how does a shop that's a chain run out of their own brand of items? Second, why are there no prices on anything? Third, there was no sign of the sale we saw online. Fourth, the customer service was horrible. The only guy there was more interested in looking at pics on his laptop than helping us. He seemed inconvenienced while talking to us, pointed to the higher priced boards in stock, and mentioned that they had none of the cheaper fins on hand, as they can't keep them in stock (doesn't that tell you that you need to order a larger quantity?). After walking about 2 miles to get to this shop we arrived to the retail man unlocking the door, approximately a half hour from closing to Ike. We walk in explaining to the man that we walked "10 miles" to get there, obviously not true, and then laughing. He says nothing. I ask him if he carries a specific brand and he tells me "nope" while packing a box and being far too busy to provide customer service. We ask if there was another shop - he got very short with us. When asked for a specific color of tank top he spoke condescending to us with "isn't there a white tank with blue?" We explain how upset we are about not finding anything and we got "swing and miss." I was the only one in the store so I got the VIP treatment. Matt asked the right questions, sat me down and gave me a few fins to try on. He really knew his stuff. The store is owned by a pro body boarder and he taught me in the store how to bodyboard. Last week after losing a fin, i went back to the store (which has about 15 brands) to but a new pair. The gentleman that helped me was a pro photographer and avid bodyboarder. He helped me with everything i needed and even showed me footage from that morning at waimea that he had shot while he helped me with tips for form and style. Ok... I've read some of the other reviews about this shop and I do agree that knowledge of product is great and my first impressions of service previously have been OK. "Kenzon", this particular day was helping an Aussie couple with some BB gear while I looked at some fins. He helped me with some Viper fins while tending to this couple. During ring up he states that the price of the fins were $69. Here I am thinking... but the box (and the rest of the viper boxes) clearly were marked $59. He goes on to say "ya the price went up". I responded that your Internet price is $60. He proceeds to check their website and in a defeated tone responds "I guess I'll have to give you that price..." Maybe I'm misreading his body language but I sure felt as If he was insinuating he was doing me a favor. So as he's ringing me up I told him I was to give him 60 cash and I'll put the tax on my credit card. So he takes my cash and card then asks mr for ID... forgetting my ID in my car I tell Kenzon my cars right out front Ill' go get it. I hand him my card and he carefully inspects my card which seemed like forever as if he really wanted to find an inconsistency. So then he swipes my card and proceeds to charge the whole amount on my card... WTF?! He tells me about the mistake, runs the credit back and redoes the whole transaction. Mind you now I'm technically out $125 because credits back to your card do not immediately process (it takes up to 5 business days). At this point I'm a bit irritated and so I ask him just like this... "bro, I feel kinda uncomfortable.... first you try to jack me on the price, then you treat me like a criminal..." his response "it's just procedure". Well your procedure leaves me stuck $60 for a few days (not that I'm hurting) and you leave me with the notion that had my skin color been lighter or me eyes a little more slanted I may have been treated differently. This guy Kenzon obviously did an awesome job with procedure in his boss/owners eyes.... but I bet anything if it was one of his boys this shit wouldn't happen.... sad, didn't know some BBers could be like this... surprising because I really did take the whole situation to heart and previously felt there is shops out there with Aloha.... this particular day I was disappointedly wrong... will I go back there/recommend to friends here and abroad?
