I usually don't do this kind of thing but I have been annoyed ever since I've been to this surf shop. To start, my partner and I went in because he's looking for a new fish board and he wants very specific dimensions. We were so excited because we found the perfect board! It was a HIC Steve Morgan 74 fish BUT there were a few pressure dents on the deck AND the bottom of the board. These dents are bigger than a quarter and all surfers know they will only get bigger. To preface, we saw that the board was already marked down $50 but we thought it was a normal markdown/sale (a lot of boards were on sale). So after seeing these dents, we asked for help from an associate (older white guy in a collared shirt). When he came over, we asked about the pressure dents. His response was incredibly rude and passive aggressive, he said something along the lines of "Well you see these dents it's already marked off $50 because of this." Just super rude. Now keep in mind, we were going to spend $900 on a "brand new board" with pressure dents. We were overall just curious about the price of the board and if anything else could be done. My partner and I have also worked in a surf shop, surf often, and have had a hand in shaping boards so we're somewhat knowledgeable in this area. If there wasn't a further markdown, we would have spent the full amount on the board but that man was so rude that we put the board back, said thank you, and walked out. read more

Went in yesterday to check out and was shocked / for certain the most stocked surfboard retail place in the entire state. If you can't find it here then it doesn't exist. Good to see an old fave running the retail (Marty) who had a wealth of personal experience in the surf industry too. My husband and I wanted to get a board for our kids (8 & 10) who are just learning how to surf. Since I don't surf, I had no clue what I was looking for. My husband was also looking to get a new board since he had a really old, heavy, antique board, but wanted something updated and lighter. The girl who helped us yesterday was so nice and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain to us what she would recommend for a board for our boys and also a board for my husband. She went into detail about the reasons why she felt certain boards would be better than others for our specific purpose, so our experience was definitely individualized, which was really nice. She also put on the fins for us, told us which leashes she would recommend, and gave us some wax to try out. She was super helpful and we were so happy to get two, new boards. I really enjoyed the quick service and quality of the surfboards I got from them. I found their overall selection was from some of the best shapers around. Minus a couple of the big names. I personally can't ride PU boards anymore because of a bone in my chest. So I have run stringer less boards. The Surfboard Factory has a decent amount of options I was happy to find. Just checking the boxes. But the value is pretty much on par for the coarse nowadays and free shipping to the airport of your choice via cargo freight is awesome deal! After being a follower on Instagram for years, I finally made a trip to Oahu and was able to step foot in the store. Let me just say, I was blown away at the inventory. 100's on boards from short to long, clear to elaborate resin tints. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. I wondered around the store for over an hour before deciding on 3 boards. Nikki was very helpful explaining the shipping to the mainland and the costs involved. They shipped the boards the week I got home and 2 days after being notified the boards were shipped, I was picking them up at Aloha Cargo. Boards were packed very well, which was a good thing, because some of the boxes looked a little beat and torn. I definitely recommend coming to this place. Customer service was great. Staff comes up to you and asks what they can help you with. I was helped by an older guy named Kim who I think is the owner. He helped me with deciding what board to get because I want to transition to a shorter board. I ended up getting the 7'2" HIC funboard made out of fiberglass. It came with fins and wax. First few days after riding it and it feels great. My dad stopped by the shop a few days after I went in and was also helped by Kim. The customer service here is as good as it gets! Shout out to Bert for helping me out with purchasing my first custom longboard! I got a 9'0" Steve Morgan Ohua longboard. He answered all of the questions that I had and helped me decide how to customize my board for my riding style! Because of the pandemic, production takes a little while longer (6-8 weeks) than usual, but Bert was very good at answering any questions I had along the way or addressing any changes that I requested. Even during the pandemic while their shop was closed from in-store shopping, their store was still answering phone calls and finishing custom orders. Like I said, the customer service is awesome! I was even able to request to have my board done one day earlier than scheduled. They did exactly that and I had my board finished two days before my 21st birthday :) In that sense, I really feel that they went above and beyond for me! I was also very impressed with the selection of fins, leashes, and other accessories available. It's definitely a one-stop kind of shop and it's super fun to look around. Even though I went in intending to just browse, Bert was still very helpful and knowledgeable. I could tell that he genuinely wanted to help. Even the process of customizing the board was fun! It was easy going and I didn't feel rushed or pressured. Bert even helped me to stay within my budget (less than $800) and told me all the customization options in order to do just that. When I came to pick up the board, I picked up a fin and a leash as well. They sanded down the base of the fin for me so that it would fit better in the fin box. I've rode the board about three times and I am really happy with the result. I surf in Waikiki and it is definitely a really good Waikiki board. I have been getting kind of bored with surfing and losing interest these past couple of weeks, but this board has reminded me why surfing is so much fun! I purchased a Steve Morgan 9' Olo this past weekend. I went in knowing the measurements I wanted and they had exactly that -- I was a pretty easy sell as I already knew exactly what I wanted. :p This is the third board we've purchased from the factory--the others being a 6'10 custom Olo and an Arakawa Bandit. We rarely go in to browse! They have a huge selection of boards and the staff is super helpful but not overly. At the factory, you can pick the boards up, lay them on a stand (upstairs) and take a good long look at the boards you're considering, compare and contrast, etc. Whereas, when you go into a shop at the mall or a surf shop downtown you typically have the salesperson watching over your shoulder. At the factory you can take as long as you want -- as long as you don't show up right before closing, of course! When we ordered my husband's custom Olo (the 6'10) they said it would take about 3 weeks, and they were true to their word. Steve Morgan is one hard worker and makes fantastic boards at fair prices. One more thing, the salesman (sorry I can't remember your name!) said by the 4th-5th day I will have figured out my new board, and sure enough, today (we surf every single morning, hardcore dawn patrollers) I had it DIALED! Morgan boards are sweet. One last 'one more thing,' I always get my leashes and board socks from here as they are well-priced compared with surf shops. read more

I can't really say much about the quality of surf boards because I didn't end up buying one. Not because I didn't like any of the boards, but because I was in the market for a used one (noob) and couldn't justify buying a shiny brand new board off the bat. That in mind, the price range was much much lower than expected for brand new boards, 7-8+ ft longboards were ranging anywhere 400 ish -upwards of 700++ The girl (sorry I forgot her name) who greeted us was friendly.
