A beautiful wood bar greets you when you walk in, with some booth seating off to the side. We sat outside for dinner and enjoyed the space. Waitress was attentive with our beers and our dinners were great. We had to order the pork tenderloin, which was incredible. Moist pork within a beautiful fried coating. This kitchen knows how to fry their food. My chicken was a deep golden brown with a moist chicken breast within. YUM! I will definitely stop back in when in Bloomington. Thanks Schooners!

As a celiac, my options were limited to the Grilled Chicken Salad and the Chicken Wings. I went with the healthier option and enjoyed my salad! Service was friendly and informative and everything you expect from small-ish town in the Midwest! I also am not able to enjoy beer any longer, so I was grateful that they offered some cider options. Delish! Would I go back? This place would be a dream if I did not have a restricted diet. So yes, if this is where my group wanted to go, I would... and I would try the wings and get another salad. Next time you consider going out for a meal or don't feel like cooking, come here. Don't go to the big chains, the food, service and quality overall are so much better with Wesley!

Thing #2, this is a ONE-MAN OPERATION. Yup, he's the waiter, the prep-cook, the chef, the front-end manager AND the 'cashier'. At least that's the deal on Thursdays when we typically go. Ultimately, the first point works in your favor, cuz with a little forethought, a small cooler and your favorite beverage, you will likely save you and yours at least $10. As for the second premise, our suggestion is to ask for timeframes early and often...then get comfy and DOUBLE those estimates. Hopefully your company (and/or your phone) will make the time disappear without notice, because it'll honnestly be a bit. Wes is a very busy man...and he tends to tell you what you wanna hear - the only things actually preventing a fifth Yelp star. Just know that the chances are quite good that it will have been well worth the wait. Mac-N-Cheese, killer. Steaks, juicily executed extremely well. Combinations of proteins always seem to mesh well, even in something as simple as a wrap. And just when you think you understand what it is that he does really well, he throws a chicken and waffle dish that blows away anything else in town, possibly any other such attempt at this iconic southern dish. (Pro tip, try a side of jerk sauce or BYO Tobasco.) Perhaps he has assistance on the weekends - one would hope so anyway, but this place definitely makes us appreciate hard work, good times and outstanding cooking. Great take out game too!

We stopped in 2 weeks ago for a cocktail and an app but passed on the food based on the indoor construction noise going on at 6 pm on a Thursday?! And although I enjoy new tech as much as most, in both instances we were also disappointed by failing attempts to incorporate new restaurant technology like the giant automatic drink mixing machine and the kitchen to table food delivery robot -cart. In both instances, I bit my tongue as a Yelper to give them a chance to work out the kinks and figure out what they really want to be. Based on a timely social media post today, I went solo for 'Taco Thursday' and after this 3rd visit, I'm compelled to weigh in. The negatives above have clearly improved - the construction team seems to have moved next door (Aroma, owned by the same guy), the place looked impressively finished, the tech gimmicks were gone as far as I could tell and the bartender today seemed to care and was very personable. Given that the employees have all been different each time we went, I'm hoping this means they've finally latched onto at least a quality cook and server. Hopefully ownership sees the value these employees bring and the trend continues. Besides the employee improvements and the impressive finished renovations the real positive I've now walked away with after 2 actual meals here, is the food. Altho I was told by 2 people that the Malaysian quesadilla is fantastic, I haven't tried one yet. Instead I can tell you that both the wings and the tacos (4 or 5 options each) are really quite authentically good. As for the craft beer, altho there are 20-plus ice cold taps and most popular styles are represented, nothing really stands out - except the daily happy hour prices (see attached pic with the current list of options)! I guess that means both the fork and the froth actually ARE going to be the draw...and at the moment at least, both are quite cost effective! So I'll go 3.4 stars until our next visit - one that will include a quesadilla.

On par with drink prices around town.

I also like that this Huck's offers a 'Pick-6' where you can pick out 6 beers from a dozen or so varieties to make up your own six-pack. They are pretty easy to get in and out of, and accept all credit and debit cards, too. Also, they have a car-wash and a decent bathroom for the fellas. Why only 3 stars then? The big guy who was running the till on the evening I went last was blasting the "Mark Levin Show" on 890 AM over the store-wide intercom. He was also engaging customers in right-wing reactionary (and vaguely racist) rhetoric. I understand that he is conservative and bored but Mark Levin is extremely disrespectful of anybody that disagrees with his extreme point of view, and having to listen to that divisive stuff, then have it parroted back to me left a sour taste in my mouth.

Finding hair in my order is gross and unacceptable, especially as it was lying under the chicken livers and not visible. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and food-handling practices in the kitchen. I could not enjoy my food and had to discard it as I no longer wanted to eat my food. I expected better hygiene standards from Huck's. Management should ensure their employees maintain proper hygiene standards while handling the food.
