If you don't like Thai food you need to try Thai house and I'm telling you, you're gonna change your mind. Their food is always fresh and cooked to order. It's to die for. I love Thai food, so when we drove past this place I decided to look at the menu. I was immediately intrigued to see the photos of the pineapple rice that were posted. I decided to place an order... such a mistake! Starting with placing the order. I inquired about what came in the rice - carrots, onion, pineapple, bell pepper, and choice of meat. I asked about green onion and I was told it was $3 up-charge-- wow, for slices of green onion vs white onion?!? Price gauging Ok whatever, I proceed with placing my order-- 40 min!! Now, I live in a busier city than this and I've been to major cities, this amount of time is a bit ridiculous. I should have just canceled then, but my sister said their food is good, so I stayed the course. Arrived to pick up my order and stood there for about 2-3 min while the man took phone orders. I get it, but at minimum acknowledge your customer. My total was $17.95 for rice... I asked for chili sauce and he said $1 for a small side, peanut sauce $5, and soy sauce $.50... these are not reasonable up charges at all! A packet of soy sauce is customary. It smells good so, let's get to the food. It's an orange-y color with pieces of pineapple and super chunks of green pepper and onion -- The flavor is ok, not impressive at all! The presentation of the rice is NOTHING like the photos. The pineapples are sweet, but I noticed a couple of bad pineapples (they were brown and soggy!). I wouldn't recommend and I probably won't come to this place again. Poor quality, poor service... I'm guessing the only thing that must be keeping this place in business is the lack of Thai options here. Shame! read more

we were visiting Bloomington to attend an antique show. It started raining and we decided to have our dinner nearby. We found this restaurant while browsing the yelp. It was a small restaurant with a small menu. Average noise level with simple decoration. We got out table without waiting. The service was fast. The price was reasonable. I oedeted Kee Mao with shrimps and chicken. It needed little bit more sauce, but the amount of Basil was perfect. I wish the amount was food more. The chicken shumai was perfect. The food and service were awesome! We were visiting from out of state. We drove from Peoria because there is no Thai Food in Peoria. We were thinking we can dine in on Friday's night, but they only do carry-out for evening with exception of Tuesday and Wednesday lunch period. Vegans and vegetarians be careful! Vegetable gyoza was actually chicken gyoza and vegan Pad See Ew (#105) contained egg. Thai House agreed to credit us for the gyoza but refused to refund or give credit for the Pad See Ew because we didn't specify 'no egg' - even though we ordered it vegan. We've been loyal customers and have never had this happen before. To have a manager argue with me about vegan food not containing any animal product and admit that they always include egg in vegan dishes unless directed not to is plain dumb, insulting , and is a red flag. Big disappointment, especially from a business that touts how friendly it is to different dietary restrictions. read more

The Thai house is the most authentic cuisine you can get in the Bloomington area hands down. This place never disappoints. I'm a huge huge huge fan of the pho. It's spicy, tons of flavor in the broth, fresh Thai basil, sprouts, jalapeños, plus they are generous with their noodle amount! For a girl who loves her noodles I'm always appreciative! I've gotten several other dishes here and again always completely satisfied. I've recommend this place to friends, and they have personally messaged me thanking me for the recommendation. So I have been in this area on and off for the last few months for some work. I will be honest in saying that finding some legit Asian food can be a stretch for this particular area. Not to say there aren't options but it's a bit tricky to find that spot that is a bit more to what I see normally. I have found my fixings for Sichuan and Korean (through relationships with the owners) and I had been hearing about Thai House for a few months now and I finally decided to pull the trigger on hitting this spot up. Most of the joints in town have not resulted in a wait and usually accommodates immediate seating but i walked into this joint with the wrong expectations. It was popping on a wed night and during prime dinner time (6 pm ish). I walked in with 2 others and there was a wait for at least 30 minutes and people kept trickling in. I figured we were committed at this point so held the trigger on sticking around. The servers here were moving around here at light speed and were doing the best to take orders, clean tables, and all with smiles and cheery voices. We were finally seated and literally fired in like 10 things for food including a bunch of appetizers. Our server was a complete sweetheart who was Korean (shout out to the motherland) although I didn't catch her name.... but hope she can be our person again in the future. We ordered chicken satay, rangoons, calamari, pad see ew, beef dishes, Malaysian curry, duck dish, crab fried rice, etc.. I think you get the point.... which is we ordered a lot of food. Our server she was flying all over the place, carrying tables, picking up addl orders from our table all while speaking both Korean and English in rapid fashion. Skillz to the max. All the food was expected so of course most of it was Americanized but kind of expected. The noodles were still respectable and on pt for what I would want to see in the bay area or other places where there is a more diverse Asian population. I give this place props for the good service, being one of the better Asian food spots in the town. It will become one of the stable ones on the rotation for sure. read more

This was an incredibly awesome meal! We had Kao Soy, Pad Kee Mao (chicken only), and Panang Curry Chicken. The wide noodles of the Pad Kee Mao were amazing, with a perfect spice level. The curry had a nice aromatic of lime, and the Kao Soy was seasoned so nicely. It was done of the best Thai food we've ever had, and we love Thai. The place: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I used to come here in college and the inside is exactly the same. Glass over top clothed tables, big windows for lots of light, and a busy front counter. Clearly popular, it was 3/4 full during dinner last night. The location: In and amongst some sadder industrial buildings. Thai House is a gem in this area. The food: Delicious. Crab Rangoon was CRISPY. None of that gummy fried wonton stuff. Hubsy had tofu pad Thai which was outstanding and came out HOT. Just the right amount of sweetness and spice. I had the Tofu Delight which was a simple tofu and veggie dish in sauce. Needed a little salt, but came with rice and was pretty good. There is a vegetarian section of the menu, but no descriptions for the dishes. Most are pretty self explanatory based on the title of the dish. The service: Super accommodating. Cheerful and kind. Being temporarily relocated from home, and loving Asian food, I needed to get my Thai fix on. THoB was closest to my new home, so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered Tom Yum Chicken soup and Green Curry. The Tom Yum chicken soup was extremely flavorful. I was very pleased with it. Lots of mushrooms and proper amount of chicken. Just the right amount of savory and tartness I expect in a Tom Yum soup. Good stuff. Regarding the green curry - I must say that it was extremely excellent. I am used to having green curry at my at-home go-to and it is good. At THoB, I was able to differentiate several flavors that were extremely satisfying to the taste buds. I would rate it a 9/10 (not much I have eaten garners a 10). Some people love a place and some hate it. This review is based on a single visit. Admittedly go there much more often when it's cold. Ignoring the fact that they have fantastic Pad Thai, seafood delicacies and dumplings year round...Thai House is my GOTO for spicy soup. There are 2 or 3 Pho-like noodle/broth bowls that blow everything else in town away. Some are naturally hot-as-hell and a few you can dial up as 'needed', but generally speaking 3 star-spice outta 5 is hot enough for most...and given the clearing of my upper respiratory and sweat-bead at the top of my forehead, count me among them. I've been here twice and loved the food. The second time I was here it was around 5-5:30 on a Saturday. We were able to get a table fast and order quickly. The problem was that we waited an extremely long time for our food. The waitress was great in making sure our drinks were refilled. The pineapple fried rice was delicious. I love the pineapples as they were juicy. I always love rice and this is my go to whenever I go to a Thai restaurant. I do wish it was bigger but it was still satisfying.
