I've been here a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. The atmosphere is nice, great service and plenty to choose from the menu. The wait staff does a great job ensuring your drinks don't go empty and the food is served promptly. It fact, it comes out pretty quickly so if you are not wanting to rush through your meal, I would suggest you order your appetizers and then a bit later order the rest of the meal. I also believe the portions are large, especially so with the soups and main courses. In a day where it is hard to find traditional, sit in Chinese restaurants this place is a gem. Will certainly be back.

    Halo Halo

I'll start with this is still my favorite Asian food in town, but a couple of things new guests should know.1) the chicken ramen tasted like the instant stuff, super salty bouillon, NOT a Dashi with mushroom and bonito flakes with a traditional umami flavor. Very Americanized. 2) the Halo Halo is a trifle bowl of crushed ice and sweetened condensed milk. The "fresh fruit" was something canned and cubed, not recognizable. It was super sweet. Again, the rest of our meal was amazing and this is still a favorite, but these are just thoughts before you order.

    At the bar!

5-stats with a 'mea culpa'. We have not explored the rather robust (including Vietnamese options) menu here. We just know they still have the best damn egg rolls going and those perfectly crispy, peanut buttery delights, along with the rest of the main appetizer menu is HALF-PRICE on Thursdays between 4 and 6 pm! That said, hopefully I can still find a place at the bar - WHERE BEER IS ALSO HALF-PRICE! - this Thursday!

Egg rolls are the best in town. Food is great also. Service was good, and they offered Culligan water!

They have a huge selection of foods predominantly from China, South Korea, and Japan. I have seen some Indian, Vietnamese, and Filipino stuff though including a generous section of spices and whatnot. The prices are quite affordable and they have a great assortment of fresh produce, deli foods like ready to eat kimbap or squid salad, baked goods, pick your own hotpot items, and fresh bbq (put out at 11am). Their staff is super friendly and diverse (a sign at the entrance touts the multilingual abilities of the staff). They seem to have everything including more niche ingredients and even live seafood! I also appreciate that they freshly butcher meat to sell unlike other stores like Amko that freeze it all. There's also a home goods section with cute bowls, makeup, and other stuff. This is all relatively close to campus too and worth the trip. It's also right next to Golden Harbor, which is a plus. I found out about their membership card. You get 1 point per dollar spent and it builds up - it seems handy especially if you shop here frequently. They are still in the opening stage but hopefully the food court will open up soon!

Red dates, Gogi Berry, ginger tea, kimchi, Vita drinks, matcha soymilk, miso paste, whole wall of lee kum kee sauces, japanese candies, Korean banana milk, coffee milk, instant noodles, and much more. Their fresh produce was a bit low in stock but they had Taiwan and Napa cabbage and fresh ginger. Inside seems clean and there is parking right outside of the market. Cashier was really friendly. There is a membership to earn points to redeem for coupon. Don't forget to grab some Japanese or Korean instant coffee packs and special lays flavored chips! Those are so good.

I just bought this evening and took it home to dispose of it and found that the fish smelled and the flesh was rotten.

The jasmine rice was perfectly cooked. The chicken adobe bowl was great too. Very well seasoned and marinated. The chicken does come on the bone, just a heads up. The seasoned fries were crispy and hot. The side of lumpia hit the spot too. Also crispy and hot, and the perfect bite sauce. The sweet chili sauce was a perfect pairing. The cucumber drink was very sweet. They have a ton of fun and unique fruit drinks. The food took a little bit and didn't all come out at the same time. But you can tell it's made to order and comes out fresh. It can get pretty busy here, since it's so popular. They have a very casual seating area and plenty of parking outside. The ordering system is pretty cool. You order at a kiosk that shows pictures of the individual items. You put your name in and pay right there. The staff comes out later and brings the meal to you.

We put in our order for pick up, and we still had to wait a bit - I think we were there during peak hours. The inside was lively with cute decor and a menu board. They also had an ordering kiosk, which could either be good or bad depending on your tech skills. Our pick up order was: -Chicken Ala Max: cooking style similar to that of the famous Max's Restaurant, not dry and had a great crisp. It came with a housemade mang tomas sauce. If you don't like liver, I would be cautious of Mang Tomas since it is made from that! -Pinakbet: pretty standard, but it had bagoong cooked throughout it and that's all I could ever need. -Hopia: I am not a fan in general, but my mother-in-law liked it -Chicken Inasal: Not dry at all and great marinade over it! -Manila Sweet Pork Sandwich: This is the pinoy version of a Bahn Mi. This is a MUST ORDER. I have no pictures, just sweet memories. We waited to eat this when we got back to STL, which was less than a 2 hour drive and it was still good.

Now its just a confusing mess unless you are a local or live in the area. Man i can't imagine being from out of town and stopping in there. Besides being a motel that gets used by hunters during shotgun deer season and a few construction crews every now and again i don't know how it remains open . Let me sum it up... Go here if your looking for a rough crowd in the basement bar and like ordering your room from the bartender so every biker in there knows where your staying . I f you are somewhat sane and like places that actually have an office and check in area with someone to help you.. look elsewhere..!.. Princeton and Spring Valley both have better. My experience i came into a stairway with a hand written note that said ''This WAY TO HELL' with an arrow pointing down the stairs. Yes i continued downstairs to a small bar with about 6 bikers who all stared at first like who the hell is this guy? I ordered a beer sat down and waited for my buddy from Aurora who was on his way down to deer hunt with me and stay at this place. After 1 beer the old crazy biker lady 2 seats to my left slid her empty shot glass down to me .. i immediately slid it back , this went on 3 or 4 times until she stood up in a drunken rage and tried to get in my face when her husband grabbed her and apologized . No big deal but i cant imagine wanting to sit through that to get a room ,because that's how it was a few yrs back you get your room downstairs from the bartender. Can't imagine being from out of town , needing a room and going through all that ,or being a non-drinker or having kids and having to haul them to the bar for a dang motel room. What a complete joke!! and a bad one at that. Unless they have completely changed this place and the owner could provide pictures of how friendly it is now , stay away from this place unless you love trouble.
