First and foremost, it's a 7-11, so I can't really fault it for that. This was actually really close to our hotel room which made it a convenient stop for odds and ends that we might need. Mostly stopped here to get water and snacks. It's a rather small, weirdly laid out space. Aisles are tight so if you need to get an item at one end of the aisle and someone is in it, you will have to wait. Most items are priced the way you expect in a convenience store. What's wrong with this place is how busy it can and does get. Being connected to a building that houses a college makes it a nightmare at times. Especially when a horde comes in. I have never laughed so hard in my life!!! I went into this location today because it was free Slurpee Day today. I walked to the front counter and asked if they were participating. The guy behind the counter never answered me and then handed me a cup. I said, "Thank you and he would not even look at me!' Fine...I know you have a franchise and you are probably not happy that corporate is giving away free Slurpee's but at least acknowledge me. So now on to the funny party. As I was getting my free slurpee...the Columbia College Students must have been in between classes...well they started streaming into here and the two guys started yelling...you need to come to the counter to get a cup...at the same time there were real customers actually getting coffee...the students ignored the guy behind the counter but the people buying coffee actually went to the counter to get cups. The people getting coffee did not need to go to the counter. It was like watching a comedy of errors. Also imagine that the guys behind the counter were also talking in English with Indian accents. Yes I felt like it was an episode of Seinfeld...because it did not seem real but it kept happening. The guy behind the counter kept shouting to the students but they kept ignoring and heading to the Slurpee machine. I was glad I was leaving because this looked like it might get ugly. I am giving this review of 4 stars to Corporate 7 Eleven for being nice enough to give America Free Slurpees. I would give the two workers here zero stars for customer service. They did nothing but yell at customers getting free Slurpee's and were not even friendly when I said, "Thank you to them for being so kind". So I would not come back to this location unless I really need gum or a hot dog that has been cooking for 4 hours. read more

Not a well run store. **Employees often are not wearing masks despite a statewide mandate.** A couple months ago I stopped by before work at about 7 AM. Clerk on duty announced that he wasn't able to check out anyone as he wasn't authorized to use the cash register. He was the only employee on duty. The few of us shopping just left. I didn't go back for quite awhile. Last week I went in to buy a donut and there were no bags to put one in. How is anyone supposed to buy unwrapped baked goods without something to put it in? Hot dogs are now 2 for $2.29 and just as good IMO. Also, I just discovered that they have a nice array of Mexican bakery items like Bimbo's Roles de Canela con Pasas, Conchas, and Gansitos. It's hard to find authentic Mexican items in the Loop. read more

I know it's just a convenience store but I'm reviewing it anyway. I've been on several occasions and the staff is always nice annnnnnnnnnnd willing to let you go when you're a bit short. I'm mad though! Why the hell is a 20oz diet Coke 2.00!??? I thought he was playing but no ... it really was actually $2.01!!!!!! I love that this place is open late. It has basically anything you might need, the people are friendly, though there are some sketchy people there every once in a while. Great location, convenient, coming back! The guy was ejecting a guy who was asking patrons for money, and he felt so bad (unnecessarily so in my opinion) that he gave us free desserts. I appreciate having 7-Elevens around -- they are convenient, after all. And if you just want a quick bite or beverage, you don't have to break your bank to frequent them. I'm not a coffee drinker, but on occasion I would stop to get one for "energy." And while I like some of the confections at Starbucks and the like, I resent having to spend so much for those. I know I could get a coffee or tea for under $2, but when you can get it for around a $1 ... well, it just makes more sense to do that if you're just stopping in for that purpose. This store was cool -- the staff was nice and they had what I wanted: a frozen coke. I was at the Lit-Fest in the South Loop area over a weekend, so it was nice that it was open. read more

Wow, never going here again! The cashier tried to short me because he was too lazy to open a new roll of quarters. I bought a drink that was $3.29 or 2/$5. Gave him $20 and he gave me back $15. I asked if there was change and he shrugged and said, "You get 92 cents but that means I have to open a roll of quarters." Um, ok. He sighed loudly and broke open a roll of quarters and handed me 75 cents. Stood there waiting for me to leave. "You want a bag or something?" No, dick. I want you to give me correct change. I felt like it would be petty to argue for the rest so I just walked out. Then I got mad at myself for not just grabbing a second drink and returning the 75 cents. He's an older Indian guy, hopefully everyone else who works there isn't so lazy. I mean, I get it. I've worked as a cashier and opening rolls of change is a pain in the ass. But you do it. read more

I shouldn't be getting yelled at for asking for a cup size that was out, and another person shouldn't be getting watched, followed and yelled at when pouring a slurpee like everyone else. WOW. So I'm pretty sure what happened to me at this 7-Eleven borders on CRIMINAL. I go in to buy a cup of coffee and grab a couple of creamers to go (like to dump them in after I get to my destination for a couple of reasons). I go up to the register to pay and the cashier says I have to pay for the creamers. SAY WHAT!?!? I'M BUYING COFFEE AND I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA IF I WANT TO BRING CREAMER WITH ME???? This woman had the nerve to say that if I don't put the creamer in my coffee, I have to pay $1 for 3 of yhem. Well, having NEVER paid for one of those little cups of creamers in my waking adult life, I promptly tell them forget it and don't bother buying any coffee and begin to walk out. The store manager proceeds to PUT HER HANDS ON ME and hold the door close to keep me in the store, all because I had 2 stinking, measly cups of creamers in my hand. Seriously, I should have called the cops, hell, still debating it. I don't care how cheap you want to be, you do NOT put your hands on people trying to give you money, trying to buy your product. No, the more I type, the more I think I will report this. In the meantime, I walked down to the 7-Eleven on Dearborn and Van Buren and not only were those ladies much more delightful, but th eir medium coffee was only $1 vs the $1.50 I almost paid for a small coffee at this shitty location. Not one of the better 7/11's. The refills on fountain drinks are more expensive and the staff isn't very friendly. Their food prices are a bit more expensive than other 7/11's also. Better to go to the 7/11 on Harrison and congress a block or so West. read more

I wish I could give them a -7, -1 for each of the women that work in there a -3 for the manager who blew me off when I was attempting to tell him how rude the night clerk was and a -2 for the fact that their chili and cheese machine has been broken for over 2 weeks and they could care less. The only reason I started going to the particular store is it was right across the street from my university, but the horrific service is not worth it. I will not pay someone to "throw" my receipt at me because she cannot be bothered to get off the phone and do her job. I arrived to the seven eleven store last week. I intentions were to simply go in and buy a juice. I go to the register and the cashier who was short and had long hair, where he explains to me that the machine that accepts S.N.A.P.S benefits was out of order. I simply told him how it was an inconvenience for the machine for to be down. He then said that the machine was simply out of paper. Which upset me a bit, because the lack of effort to keep up with simple supplies the store might need. I then asked to speak to a manager. The man directed me to the back of the store, i asked him if he could ask the manager to come to the front desk. He said that if i wanted to speak to a manager i would need walk to the back. As uncomfortable as i felt, I walked to the office that was in the back of the store. The "manager" of the store was sitting back there with no shoes on sitting down. I explained what happened and asked him for his name and the gentleman's name at the register. his words were. "no." i told him i wanted to make a further complaint to cooperate. he stood up and started yelling at me saying "get out! i will not give u our names!" mean while he was PUSHING me out of his office and COVERING his name tag!! I walked toward the front of the store and by this time i was crying. i started to explain to the tall worker what happened, he then called a woman who started to apologize to me.. and i left. Keep in mind, I had money to pay for the items, i just wanted to make a complaint. I am 4 1/2 months PREGNANT and that man put his hands on me pushing me out. they have a name to uphold and I personally think they are doing a disgusting job at it. Went there at 1 am with someone. There were two other people trying to find the way in, as there was a second entrance through a larger building ( which was closed). The employee had locked the main door and pretended not to notice anyone. I had to knock loudly to get in. read more
