So apparently both stores are the South Loop Market though it seems like they're separate businesses. I recently went into both to shop around. The mostly convenient store part was absolutely expensive. Not too have healthy choices at all or decent deals. Something a few bucks in the suburbs is $10 here. The other establishment next door has a big deli and rotating menu. Staff wasn't too friendly but the BLT was good though it was grossly overpriced! Smaller food selection but different options compared to the store next door. Overall, I do not reccomend read more

Really handy little place tucked around the corner from the Convention Center. If walking from McCormick Place, it's the third set of doors, not the grocery/liquor store that is also South Loop Market. Great little cafe walking distance from McCormick Place serving intelligentsia coffee, breakfast sandwiches, doughnuts, along with other sandwiches and drinks. I feel you get a lot for your money considering the hotels and other food options in the area. read more

I visited this location several times to see if it was just maybe that day was bad but no poor customer service. The prices are very high and I understand you're paying for connivence. The women preparing the food are always talking to each other awhile before greeting you taking your order. The women preparing the food were eating their food while preparing my food. This was final straw why I stopped coming it's just unsanitary. Then it takes way too long for a breakfast sandwich. I received the worst service from the women at the deli at this small breakfast establishment. After calling my order once it was ready the woman that worked there threw my order on the counter & proceeded to leave it there and return to the businesses back of house. Before even proceeding to order I was stared down while simply looking at the menu to figure out what I wanted. Overall the energy of this place was terrible & I would not recommend at all, and the quality of the food was a 7/10. read more

The South Loop Markets are top-shelf, high-end grocers. I really enjoy shopping them (usually at 17th & Michigan) and find that, while they have a smaller selection, because of their smaller footprint, they have most of what I need when a quick trip is all I have time for. While their prices are higher than chain stores, I like shopping with them because they are impossibly clean. All of them. However, the one at Michigan and Cermak really takes the cake. I mean, there's clean, there's South Loop Market clean, and then there is clean like this store (Michigan & Cermak). It's a lot of work and I thank them for their effort to make this particular shop a compelling place to buy. A special shout-out to Kyle who, even though he was elbow deep in cleaning (I entered right before closing) he was more than hospitable and pointed out everything I needed as a first-time visitor. You could tell the pride he takes in his store as he took the time to show me around and help me find what I needed. When I was in the hospitality industry, I recommended this store to my guests who were going to McCormick for a convention as they could stock up on drinks and snacks far less expensively, with a far-wider selection, and with far more taste and flavor than anything they could ever find at the convention center. What a wonderful discovery! South Loop Market is located just down the street from the Marriott Marquis we were staying at. Kinda glad not many attendees knew about it because it's a hidden gem that seems to be frequented only by locals. Some colleagues found it and told us to get breakfast there. Instead of waiting 30 minutes at Starbucks across the street, you could have a fresh breakfast burrito or croissant sandwich and hot coffee within 10 minutes. Plus you should peruse the selection of snacks throughout this "tiny but mighty" convenience store. Reasonably priced and lots of variety. Normally I wouldn't walk into a liquor store like this one, but it wasn't as shady as I expected... and the quality of the food was good. Definitely beats trekking out to Target or somewhere else to get snacks. Actually I hope more people find out about this (when I'm not in town) to keep it in business for my next trip there. read more

I was staying at the Hyatt for a convention and am kicking myself that I only went to this great market once. It had pretty much everything I needed from deodorant to delicious espresso and everything in between. Seriously, the espresso is worth the walk from the Hyatt. I would have done it every morning had i known how good it was. One of my buddies stopped in here a few times over our visit and said he always had a good experience. The lady behind the deli counter was extremely nice and the guy working the register was super helpful to me, answering any questions I had. If you need something quick and you are in this area, I definitely recommend this as your go-to place. read more

Such nice people! Small but mighty corner store. We Came in from out of town decided to pick up some wine cheese fruits and sandwich meats. Great selection and great quality. They also will slice you meats and cheeses if you prefer not to buy from their pre packaged section. I forgot something and they went out of their way to help me get it. Much appreciated. This place was absolutely terrible! I went there and found almost everything was near, or past, expiration and when I brought it to the gentlemans attention, he just said that it was still good! This employees name was Sunny, however, dispute his name, his attitude and character was anything but. He was beyond rude and asked me to leave the store because I was "Questioning the quality of his products!". I would not be surprised if this place was a front for some much more nefarious activities, because it is obvious they do not care about cleanliness or customer service, or well being for that matter.... Area around the convention center is a wasteland with nothing to do, no restaurants, and no grocery stores. Get your act together Chicago. This market looks to cash in on the lack of competition with airport level prices. $6 for OJ or a box of cereal, $4 for an ice cream bar, etc... I have been working in the South Loop area for 13 years. Typically if you want a deli sandwich or something quick. You would either have to go the Local Grocery store or Subway. I'm very happy with South Loop Market. They offer fresh deli at an affordable price along with coffee, soup and they have a great Craft beer selection. Employees are very helpful too. This store is so nice. I was just around the area and I found this store, it made me curious so I went in. It is just a small grocery store but it was so clean. The shelves are organized properly and it all seems fully stocked. They have a limited selection but it has a lot of products and items that are just the same in other big grocery stores. They also have a few selection of fresh produce. They have a wonderful selection of beers and other local beers so I got my self one and a chips that I also found inside. Staff in the counter was so nice and friendly too. Prices on some may be higher but I think it was just fine if you needed something convenient. Overall, it was a cool store. read more

Bad service stood waiting for 10 minutes no other customers three ladies working not one acknowledged me. I turned and walked out. Everything seemed way overpriced and the items looked like old expired food. I went here once before and got a muffin and coffee and the muffin was pretty old. Would not recommend. I visited South Loop Market twice while staying at the Hilton Chicago for a conference, which is just a few blocks away. The staff were SUPER-friendly - all 4 of them I had contact with. The hot breakfast sandwiches are very good and ready in less than 5 minutes. They have deli sandwiches and salads to go, and a good selection of other foods for such a small store. And, much less expensive than the hotel food shops. I highly recommend this market! read more

This place may not look like much on the outside but don't let that fool you. It's a great market with a great selection of snacks and specialty items and reasonable prices. In addition they make incredible custom sandwiches using Boars Head meats and cheeses. I stayed at the Hilton property across the street and this was an easy walk! The prices were pretty high compared to the liquor found at the Walmart neighborhood market. They also only had one variety of ciroc, which was disappointing. They had everything else that I needed at the last minute though. read more
