    Deluxe Fried Rice

I do not frequent the 7 11 near Kawananakoa Middle School quite often. But today, I decided to pick up a cup of coffee from 7 11. I was so surprised to see fried rice in the warmer. It looked pretty good, so I decided to pick it up. I liked it. It wasn't bad at all for a convenience store fried rice. It had charsiu and lup chong, which helped enhance the taste. For $4.70, it's a good deal and I plan to pick it up again tomorrow. But this time, I'm going to add the delicious siu mai. Service was fast and the cashiers were nice. The store is nicely lit.

Shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii... You never know what you'll find... Browsing through 7-Eleven in Hawaii is different from the mainland stores. Here, the local company caters to residents of the 50th State. The snacks, ice cream, beverages, hot food, deli items, etc. carry different items from those on the continental USA. For example, this 7-Eleven on the corner of Nuuanu Avenue and Kuakini Street had some kulolo, butter mochi, and peanut butter filled mochi by the cash registers. There were candy and arare leis for sale, as well as lanyards decorated with spam musubi designs. Even the Slurpee machine had a Green River flavor! In the warmers, manapua, pork hash, fish musubi, and other Hawaii snack favorites were displayed. The refrigerator area, goodies such as saimin and pho were available! I saw unusual items such as mochi ice cream and tropical flavored popsicles in the freezer! My mainland friends tell me that they wish their 7-Elevens would have these items for sale. Wow... they make me appreciate our local 7-Eleven stores!

This 7-11 is a part of my childhood days. I attended Kawananakoa and would frequent this 7-11 multiple times a week. I recall getting snacks afterschool. Favorites at that time were the frozen burritos, cheese nachos and of course, Slurpees. Those were such good days coming here with friends. I settled in Liliha in the late 90's and sadly, I haven't been patronizing 7-11. For gas, I primarily drive to Costco for the $$$ savings and for snacks and drinks.......I just don't come here. I don't see anything that gets my attention. Every year on July 11th, 7-11 offers a free small Slurpee up until 7pm at all locations. Of the 20 years living in Liliha, I perhaps redeemed the free Slurpee maybe 5 times at the most? This past year I received a friendly reminder text from my sister about the freebie. By pure coincidence I didn't have to night shift so I made my way here after my regular job and arrived shortly after 5pm. I was NOT surprised to find the parking lot FULL but I took a chance and somehow managed to double park. But, I left extra room just in case the person in front of me needed to leave. I walked in and lo and behold, a LONG LINE. NO surprise again so I redeemed my free small cup at the center table and stood in line. It was funny to have bumped into my next door neighbor as she also was here for the free Slurpee. The line did move faster than anticipated and when it was my turn, I noticed MANY MANY flavors with red lights, meaning it's NOT ready to serve. Some people (adults and children) stood on the side waiting as they really wanted the flavors of their choice. I wasn't in a rush to go home but didn't see the value in waiting so I just helped myself with the common flavor of Cola. I filled my cup and walked out. Customer service was standard. Nothing memorable. They did have extra staff on board and politely asked people to wait on the side to allow foot traffic to go through. The parking lot has 2 entrances with a self serve gas dispenser on the same lot. I've noticed questionable people loitering around this area and don't feel this is a safe place to come and pick something up, especially in the evenings. Compared with the 7-11 stores in Asia, this one was sad for me. The premade hot food, the chillers, snacks and drinks didn't impress me. When I travelled in Asia for one month last year, at the 7-11's in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the selection and food quality were impressive and they set the bar high. So now that I'm back to reality, sadly the 7-11's in Hawaii just don't excite me. For the above referenced reasons, I don't come to this 7-11 location, despite it being closest to my home. I drive by this store almost daily and sadly I don't stop here to shop.

I'm always amazed with what you can buy at 7-11. Usually, my go-tos are the Japanese snacks at the front of the store as they are imported and the musubis. After seeing a friend's post of the new Fresh Blends machine that whips up everything from Frappes, smoothies, shakes and even flavored frozen lemonade, I knew we'd have to make a stop to try it out. The Fresh Blends machines are not found at every location yet. On the website, if you look under "Locations" and scroll to "Fresh Blends", the website will display the locations that carry the product! Pretty awesome website! We ended up going to the Nuuanu location. The Fresh Blends machine is located near the Slurpee area and is user friendly. We had wanted to make a coffee frappe and a strawberry banana milkshake, but they were out? The machine did not have the options for these (even though the pics were displayed) so we settled on a Strawberry smoothie and strawberry lemonade. You have 2 size options with the large being I think, $3.65? I thought this was quite reasonable. My son made both drinks with a few touches on the machine's screen. The drinks were yummy and quite refreshing! The whole process was pretty cool... technology is awesome, that is, when it works!!! Check out the new Fresh Blends machines at 7-11!!

Haha, this is where some of my oldest childhood memories are. Coming here late at night to buy slurpees and to play video games by myself. Gone are the videogames, but a huge selection of slurpees are now available. Parking Wise: Huge parking lot with parking both in front and on the side of the store. Service: Sometimes there are long lines due to so many customers. But there are 4 registers so hopefully you will be lucky and they open more registers. When I went today there were 10 people in line and they opened the 3rd register. Selection: Huge selection with a lot of merchandise in stock. I find this 7-11 to have a better inventory then most of the other 7-11s on Oahu. Overall: Great place in a central location to grab and go, especially small stuffs like snacks. Super late night can be a little bit dicey, but I have never had a problem yet. #Yelp 365 020/365 Date Visited: Saturday, August 20, 2011

Really convenient location to make a pit stop for gas, snacks and drinks. Well lit, mostly clean with friendly service. Sometimes they have slurpee day and kids tell me they get it for free. Free is good! Vagrants outside hanging around so I make sure to come with a friend that's armed to the teeth and never alone. I miss the Japan 711. They had way better foods and served hot oden there too. Sigh*

It's a place where you can be yourself. I've come to value Pioneer Pantry for what it is. They've been here for 20 years and I'm just noticing for a month or so now in June 2026. I recently relocated jobs and now work in the downtown Honolulu area. After discovering Pioneer Pantry, I feel like its been a good thing to have when you're running late and didn't have breakfast. Its nice to come here and score some breakfast muffins or those bag of chips, or even cold drinks to have during drab office hours during the day. Pioneer Pantry functions like a 7-Eleven with an actual live kitchen in the back. Pioneer Pantry is a small functioning convenience store that carries most things that many people enjoy on a daily basis. On most mornings, I would enter the store running late to the office and stumble through here. I would pick up a couple of items and a cold drink and be on my way. I wasn't sure if the fountain drink machine was operational or not, so I just grabbed a cold bottle from one of their refrigerators. The prices here can be a bit more than other places, but I was in a rush - most days anyway. The overall experience here at the Pioneer Pantry is good and blessed that they are here. It's nice to have them here for those of us who are rushing to work and have this oasis on the way there for breakfast and other necessities. During the early morning though, they are open along with the Wiki Wiki Drive Inn before 8am. During the lunch hours, they are open along with the other restaurants in the Pioneer Plaza food court fully open for business. The ladies in the back of the store are very friendly and are awesome. Small business owners are amazing for sure. I try to stop by every day here to pick up something for breakfast. Knowing my schedule, I tend to sleep in and rush to work anyway and having Pioneer Pantry here to help is a big boost for me. Majority of my experiences here are happy ones and don't intend on changing. For the most part though, it's always nice to have this place here. While people have their Starbucks or McDonald's in the morning, I rely on Pioneer Pantry for my cold morning beverage of choice, which incidentally includes a cold soda with or without ice. Most people love hot or iced coffee to start their day. I prefer cold soda. Not healthy, but its my thing and it's pretty good. The Pioneer Pantry is located inside Pioneer Plaza building on the 1st floor food court. It's physically located at 900 Fort Street Mall in downtown Honolulu. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. It's next to the taco place and the Subway restaurant. As far as parking is concerned, best bet would be either street parking or paid parking garages nearby. If you are like me, public transportation is good and there's a bunch of bus routes that traverse thru the downtown corridor. Pick the ones that stop off at either Bishop Street or Fort Street Mall and walk on over. And of course, there's always Uber and Lyft and even Tauro, if you need their services. For now though, if you work or pass thru downtown Honolulu and don't like what the others are offering you, consider Pioneer Pantry at the Pioneer Plaza building. It's a nice trip here to grab something on the way to work every morning. Or a quick snack for lunch too. Its definitely a lifesaver when you're running late and you can support local businesses too. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+

She is so personable and a joy to speak with. She offers inexpensive breakfast bentos featuring white or fried rice, a fried egg and pieces of Portuguese sausage, bacon or frankfurter. During lunch she sets up an array of entrees ... Honey Walnut shrimp, Beef with Vegetables, Meat Jun, Spicy Chicken, Choi Sum, Vegetable Pancake ... the selection varies by day and she offers two or three starches. A two-choice plate ($9.75) comes with a choice of white rice, fried rice or noodles. You have to go early; she can run out of food by 12:30pm. I usually choose one chicken dish and a vegetable with fried rice or noodles. A co-worker always gets the Honey-Walnut shrimp. It's hard to find a better deal in a plate lunch in downtown Honolulu. Her drinks are "the deal", $1.25, $1.50 and $1.75, for large, larger and humongous. Add in the personable service and you have a winner! Hey, stay away, we don't want any more competition for her food. Highly recommended!

I loved everything about this musubi. Great spam to rice ratio. The only thing that I need is some of my chili spices! Mom & Pop is super friendly, I remember asking how many musubi's they sell a day and owner mentioned they make and sell over 100 a day. At times it seems stronger in certain areas, which makes me wonder if it's coming from plumbing, floor drains, or possibly even outside air getting pulled in. What's frustrating is that this location used to feel like one of the better-run stores on the island. Now, the overall impression is very different.
