Crumbly too. BUT plot twist: I didn't hate it. I wanted scone texture with muffin taste, and somehow the universe delivered both in one baked good. Accidental win. The place itself? Nothing wild, nothing gimmicky. Standard pastry case, good seating, chill vibes. But the real star here is how clean everything was and honestly, that matters. If I'm eating crumbs that explode on impact, I at least want to know they came from a spotless counter. Overall: good coffee, decent pastry redemption arc, minimal personality but solid execution. This may be THAT coffee because I def spent $10.58 on a turmeric coffee today. And I do not own a house. I'm also not a millennial so there's that. To be sure, there are a growing number of coffee options in North Jersey and Pour City ranks at the top. Owners and staff are coffee experts who gladly share their coffee knowledge in detail. The shop is clean and hangout worthy. Most important, beans are excellent single source, roasted in house, packed and dated in one-pound bags, which is unique these days. Coffee beans are ground to order when sold, but not before two days after roast. This allows time for gasses to escape and a better taste. We usually choose a medium-dark roast that provides a balanced flavor. Not withstanding the 5-star there is a strong caveat that a few coffee enthusiasts may care about. The house grinder does not grind coarse enough for french press which produces residue in the cup and some bitterness in the brew. This is irrelevant if you have a burr grinder and grind to your liking. We buy the slightly too-fine ground coffee anyway, because we enjoy the beans and deal with it. So, if you are not a french press enthusiast or have your own burr grinder, or simply don't care, then ignore the gripe and go for it. Pour City is rich (pun intended) with great coffee. ;

At the register, it was a little confusing as there was no line that had formed. There were people standing in front of the register and the young employee would just shout "next customer" and someone would decide to go next. In my opinion, I think the back room should have a door or curtain just for the employees privacy. I would not want customers seeing me eating or on my phone while I'm on a break. I'm sure most people know it's a break room, but for those who don't would be wondering why there are people sitting when the front of the store has customers waiting for their order to be taken. Back to the food... I got a panini with mozzarella, tomato, basil and chicken (additional $4.50). And I also go the Clean Green smoothie. They gave me a numbered placard so that someone could deliver my food to my table. The panini was good, but unfortunately the chicken was very dry and the ends of the bread was soggy. For something that was just made, the bread should not be soggy like it had been sitting in a liquid for a while. The smoothie was ok. I think they put too much vanilla extract in it because that was the only thing I could really taste. I think the banana needed to ripen for another day. Also, there was a grainy texture and I can't figure out why as there was no powder added to it. According to the menu, the ingredients are coconut water, banana, cucumber, spinach, dates, and vanilla extract. The total for my sandwich and drink was $31. This is an ok but overpriced lunch. I might come back to try something else in the future.
