Nearest grocery store to our home, we shop here at least once a week. They have great fruit selection, excellent bakery and confectionery items, huge inventory of all home grocery needs. Often they have really good sale on sodas like buy 2 12-pack, get 1 free. Other items like chips, gatorade, dairy goods, juices, vitamins also have discounts. The store is mostly kept clean. Associates are friendly. Self checkout lanes are available and monitored so customers don't cut lines. Huge parking, finding a spot is never an issue. read more

Check ALL of your produce not just one section per day! When things are actually fresh and not completely rotten or infested with flies they're actually the best grocer in town. I am a mayonnaise fanatic. Hellmans raised their 20 oz to $7.25. Outrageous. I switched to Stop and Shop. Super Surprised, very little difference. Now Hellman is lowering their price. My friend raved about this location so I thought why not though I usually go a LITTLE out of my way to go to the Teaneck one on my way home from work. I thought this may be awesome because it's actually closer to my apartment. First off, the parking lot is huge and there are plenty cart return locations. Only problem is the actual supermarket seems really dark and dreary. No biggie. The seafood area, you have to have someone assist you and no one was there. I walked back a few times and nobody. The Teaneck one has pre-packed fish from the seafood area so if no one's there, no problem, grab what you want and go. I sometimes prefer this than looking around for assistance. Not sure I'm a huge fan of this spot. It's alright, not sure I'd return. read more

I am updating to acknowledge the customer service desk & the self-register staff. They are all extremely helpful when any issues arise (electronic coupons seem to be not as electronic as they hope). I seen customers get irate that their 25c was not taken off. I found that it is so much more productive if you just ask nice, but some customers don't. The staff is fantastic & I hope management takes notice of this review. I ran a business for a decade & I know how rare it is that management hears "good". It is usually all bad. This store is convenient however do to the size of it there is a very good chance that you will never complete what you came in for. Prepared foods in the rear has some of the worst most ill mannered employees. They could care less and often do not even look to help a customer. the one women who is helpful. The store itself has a nice selection of organic foods and the fruits and vegetables are better than ShopRite junk in Englewood. The customer service ladies are for the most part nice. Their bakery is a joke. I'd like to say that first off, their selection is poor in comparison to surrounding grocery stores and other stop and shop locations. Secondly their customer service is seriously lacking. I stopped in last minute to grab a cake for a birthday. I chose a basic cake and asked a young man who worked in the bakery If there was someone who could please write on the cake for me. He responded that he was not trained on that yet and went to find a manager. I appreciated this. 5-10 minutes later he comes back and states no one is available. I said "I'm sorry you mean no one can write happy birthday on this cake?" He says "nope, sorry... bye" and walks away. While I appreciate him acknowledging he is unable to do it and refrains from messing up the cake... how is there no one available on a Saturday in the bakery to write on the cake? Also, why is this young man alone in the bakery with no assistance if he is not fully trained? Stay away from their bakery. read more

I ordered online and had no contact pick up. It was great! I pulled into a numbered spot, called the number on the sign and Lexi and Caitlin brought my groceries to the car, opened the trunk, loaded everything and were friendly and efficient. This review is for the bakery. Do not preorder from the bakery. Someone just decided to slap together a cake and than put a price tag of more than double the price of what I would usually pay for that same exact cake. Strawberry Boston cream was preordered more than 2 weeks in advance, over the phone, they said I could always give a 3 day notice for a cake. I can't imagine what it would look like if I gave a 3 day notice for a cake if my cake looked like it was slapped together. Poor presentation of cake. The didn't have the plastic around the cake to keep it together so when you cut into the cake it wouldn't fall apart as you cut into it. The icing didn't even fully go around the entire cake, someone got lazy. The Boston cream was uneven that one side was way thicker than the other side that it was a leaning tower of a cake and oozing out. Urgh! Such a fail. Mind you I had ordered 2. Btw, I tried to order half a sheet of the strawberry Boston cream, this particular Stop & Shop can't do it. If they did half he sheet, the strawberries would be sliced strawberries, with no jelly, Really?! I've ordered a half a sheet before, it's been done.. but this place can't make it. So if you like the strawberry Boston cream, don't expect it to be pretty and don't think you can get it any other size. read more

I don't know who wrote the review about old white people in Dumont and Bergenfield but fyi Bergenfield is a very diverse town and Dumont is abotu 70% white so the rest of the population is other races. Northern NJ is pretty diverse. I never saw a racial incident at Dumont Stop and Shop and I live in town. Stop & Shop is convenient, has good variety and fresh produce. Perfectly decent market, but the regular weekday clientele are awful -- overbearing, self-entitled old White people from Dumont and Bergenfield who will cut you in line, will complain passively aggressively at you and any kids if you are under 65 (and especially if you are not White), and will act rudely to the cashiers. Until these jerks finally die off, it's better to drive a little farther to one of the other supermarkets or to wait until evening to shop. read more

I happen to come to this stop and shop a lot. Not because it is great but because it is convinent. The store is usually clean and somewhat organized which is good. More my problem is that a lot of times I have been there and seen fruit that has gone bad as if no one has even looked at it and some not all of the staff seem very lazy and nasty. I waited at a self checkout for 20 minutes for assistance and no one came I called out to a few people who seemed to be managers and they completey ignored me and the machine that kept saying wait for assiatnce. On the other hand there are quite a few people there who work their asses off running to pick up the slack. It really needs to be better organized and taken care of and management really needs to start weeding out the people who don't help and congratulate those who go above and beyond. read more

Typical Northern Jersey big chain supermarket. Doesnt have as big of a selection as some other bigger supermarkets such as Pathmark but its layout is more pleasing to the eye and easier to navigate. Prices are on the high side of the grocery spectrum so look for the sale items. Also I prefer their deli and meat selections over other area markets because they wrap the meat better and the cuts just look better than others. read more

I'm giving it one star for convenience and another for prices, which are not that low compared to Shop Rite but better than the Stop & Shop in Tenafly. And a negative one star for customer service. I prefer not judge the whole store by one incidence, because there are cashiers who are very polite & pleasant, but today I was waiting in line and right before my turn, the cashier tells me that she's now Express Lane (I had a loaded cart). Forming a new Express Lane, where the carousels are located is poor decision on the part of management, and don't just change it after a customer has been waiting for 5 minutes. And I realize that cashiers, who have worked longer than others earned their positions by going up the lane numbers, but please don't say it with a sneer like you have upped the customer. Not a word of sorry--well, I'm not so sorry to leave these comments. There's not enough competition in this area, where supermarkets have closed--I guess people will still come to shop even with poor service. No one wants to end up with not having a place to get groceries. Also please don't call the courtesy desk the "Solutions Center." It is a solutions for the store and not the customer. read more

Really convenient in Dumont, but a bit more pricey than the other markets around town. Their produce is pretty good for a supermarket, and they have a good selection for their size, so it's worth a little extra to have a supermarket right in town, especially with others going out of business around here. read more

Went here to pick up a baked good, walked out with 2 pies, $4.99 each. The apple one was really good, but the cherry one was not.

One of the best supermarkets in the area. Plenty of parking, clean, good bakery and deli.

I ended up frequenting this location a lot because it was in walking distance from where we were staying and Walgreens opened quite a bit later (and most likely had higher prices). As a side note, someone at Walgreens should do some market research on this area because you're leaving a lot of money on the table. The staff here is kinda meh - I probably visited this store three times and only met one staff member that even tried to speak or help me with something. Most of the other time, it's like shopping at Walmart, where the staff is in the aisles stocking or doing other tasks and they're shouting across aisles at each other without acknowledging you or seeing if you need assistance with anything, which is fine for me, as I don't mind finding stuff on my own, but just a heads up to everyone else. The bakery foods (muffins) were really good and to get the promotional pricing on some items you will need a Stop & Shop card. The one person that actually approached us to assist us at self checkout explained how the card worked and how to get the promotions without one (since we were from out of town and don't have this chain where we're from). If someone in management reads this, please speak to your staff about their lack of attentiveness and lower the temperature in the store, unless you're storing penguins somewhere in there. read more

I really like this store. Parking is great, place is clean, staff are very friendly and it's never as crowded as the other stores like Shop Rite in New Milford. There always seems to be every register open, which keeps the customers in and out quickly. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the prices are pretty high compared to the other stores. Express Checkout a joke. People with all kinds of subsidy coupons hold up the line. Express should be for cash. Managers all over but two checkers. Total mismanagement. People arguing over coupons should be in a full service line not Express. Store is going down hill. Never anybody in the fish market. There should be a bell or something.
