This Whole Foods gives off good vibes, has an inviting layout, and good organization. They have well stocked shelves, friendly service, and a good prepared food and bakery area. I guess not all Whole Foods are created equal. No issues on this latest trip. They had a good selection of items that were 50% off (bakery, salads, etc) because of the expiration date but it is a treat to find something you like on deep discount. They also have select discounted deals on specific days like bogo sushi on Fridays. So for a pricier grocery store in general, you can bump into deals especially with an Amazobmn prime account. This plaza also includes Target, home goods and a few restaurants. I'm sure it gets packed on Saturdays or when all stores are open so going on a Sunday might be a good idea. read more

They recently switched out the cookie cart with a smaller one that hold about a third less. Suddenly all my favorites that I always got for myself and kids aren't being made anymore because there isn't room for them. If you're going to replace it, fine, but reducing the variety available is such a disappointment. read more

Stopped by WFM during the week to get some of their hot lunch items and groceries. The place was super clean, very well stocked up. Hot har, cold bar and soup station were full of variety of dishes. I got the rotisserie half chicken, only $5.50, small cup of lobster bisque (my favorite) and a slice of regular pizza (decent, not the best). Also got bunch of fruits like pink strawberries, blueberries and navel oranges. They have plenty of self checkout lanes, quick and easy process. Went to the bakery section this evening to buy snacks, the service was not good at all. This elderly woman was easily distracted and couldn't answer my questions about the ingredients of the food. Meanwhile staff was goofing off behind the bread section. Overall, I think it's nice Wholefoods is working with the WIN program. We purchased what was suppose to be fresh salmon form their seafood department. When we brought it home which is a very short distance, it had a horrible odor. We threw it out. It is surprising because Whole Foods has a lot of good products. Their seafood department needs improvement. This is my last seafood purchase from there until they improve. All other products that we purchased there were fine. Their entire staff there is very friendly and helpful. After going to the Whole Foods in Wash. DC, I am really disappointed in this Whole Foods. I was there yesterday around 11a and saw a lot of the packaged foods like the tuna salad, chicken cutlets and salads were 5 days old. The DC Whole Foods has twice the amount of hot foods and salad bar selections. The biggest surprise is the breakfast bar selections of eggs and the like, including egg sandwiches. The Closter Whole Foods doesn't have any breakfast selections at all. Overall it's very disappointing the standard or low standard at this Whole Foods. The Woodcliff Lakes Whole Foods isn't any better. read more

I've been shopping at WF for over 30 years and it pains me to write this, but this store has had a sharp decline in the past 3-4 months. Even during peak COVID in 2020, it was still a pleasure to shop in person there, but there are so many empty shelves now and the place is even more full of people with two carts in a rush to fill pick up or delivery orders. Shouldn't the experience of people shopping for themselves in the store take some priority over the efficiency of people filling orders? It feels like some of the standards are slipping. Today I went to order some deli meat and the area around the slicers was covered in bits of meat and cheese from previous orders. Wonder how long that mess had been there. Definitely thinking twice about having any deli food in my future delivery orders. Glad you have self checkout, but that's really only good for very small trips. If you have produce, all the data entry you have to do is very prone to errors and generally way too much trouble. Unfortunately, they now seem to be putting fewer cashiers out, so either way you go it is going to take a long time to get out the door. One might say that this WF got worse because of covid, but in the last two months I've shopped at to some WF stores in other areas in Boston, Providence, and Portland Maine. This place is getting better in terms of getting away from the saying "costing the Whole Paycheck" I am seeing some really good deals even for non-Prime members. The promotions are even sweeter for the Prime people. Some items are competitive comparing to ShopRite and Stop and Shop supermarkets and seemingly more attractive. However, in my view, Trader Joe is somehow more attractive with a lot of unique stuff that we liked. One thing I still don't get is their 10 cent discount on using your own bags. It is applied very inconsistently and most of the time never applied. I never argue as it is just my tiny contribution to reduce bag wastes. Also, the cashier frequently entering the produce code wrong (eg. different types of apple). So, watch them closely and check afterward. For some reasons, it happened to me a few times. Overall Whole Foods is a great store. You used to have great baked goods too, specifically those huge muffins with crumb toppings. Now you have mediocre muffins and then you raised the price on those mediocre muffins to $3. I'd gladly pay more for quality, but not for the ones you have now. Please bring back the old muffins and I'll even pay $4. The current muffin is not worth more than $2, and only if I'm hungry and there's nothing else good to eat. Let's talk about the food bar. Gross! Seriously why does it always look like a hurricane came through here? The parking is horrendous. I don't think these are normal sized parking spaces. Do not bother using the pick up groceries option here. It is the worst run Amazon groceries service. The order is never ready, you will sit in the car forever. Sometimes they lose your ticket, sometimes they blame it on computer errors, Iv even been told to leave because my groceries were not available and it was too late to redo my order. This has happened 5 times at this location. Other Whole Foods do it perfectly and are waiting outside with ur order soon as you pull up. . The Whole Foods workers here at Closter are great and always try to help, but they are a separate department than the Amazon groceries department. I would like the manager of the Amazon groceries department to know you are doing a terrible job and should be replaced. Clean, spacious, and great selection. Impressive layout and a lot of fun even just browsing. Check out the bakery, deli, and sushi stations. There are lots to choose from. I particularly enjoyed their take on the sushi burrito. And if you do eat in, there are great seats by the windows! I was buying a container of the brownies (baked in-house) and asked someone about the nut situation since my niece can't eat tree nuts. And he was very helpful in explaining that all baked goods with nuts are made in trays beneath non-nut goods to avoid contamination. Good to know! read more

This is the fourth time I've came to this whole foods since it opened and they NEVER have sufficient vegetarian hot foods. Their mac and cheese always has bacon in it for some strange reason, they never have any plain individually packaged on the side, and their mashed potatoes alway always ALWAYS have either ground beef or bacon in it. I don't like writing out of anger, but particularly on this day this has prompted me to write a review. All other whole foods in the area (three I've been to besides this one) always have their mac n cheese and/or mashed potatoes without meat. Except Closter! What the heck!? I settled for a Suja juice, and maybe if I ever get over this and come back here I'll try their ramen since I've only had it from the Edgewater location and that was always good. Came by the new Whole Foods Market today and was very impressed. I am an avid shopper at WFM locations around the metro NYC area and this one ranks high on my list. I love the layout of the store, everything is organized perfectly and the store flows very organically. The produce department is huge and has so many choices. They have a coffee and juice bar at their entrance which is a great way to welcome shoppers. To make things even better the shopping carts have cup holders to make holding your beverages easy while shopping. The floral department is a nice size and overflows into the entryway, which adds a warm touch when you first walk in. The meat and seafood counters were both large with plenty of fresh options, along with refrigerated and frozen items. Next stop was the prep foods area which has a great choice of food behind the counter and a number of salad and hot food bars in the center of the aisle. An entire island for just soup is a nice touch, especially in this chilly fall weather. As always, the team members and management here were all so friendly and accommodating. Everyone was eager to help, and they appeared to handle the mass crowd with ease. The store was extremely busy today but I'm sure that's just because it is the opening weekend. I am going to try again in a month and hopefully it will have calmed down so I can walk around a bit more and really enjoy the store. The only criticism I would have for this location is the design on the entrance, it is tight and quite congested when I got there, a better design for easier flow probably would've been a good idea. Also, it is in a strip mall with a Target and HomeGoods coming soon so parking might get a little dicey on a Saturday or weekday evenings, but only time will tell on that concern. It looks so comfortable I have actually debated staying there rather then getting my food to go (but my toddler reminded me why that was not a good idea when she ran out the door.) the decor and ambience puts this location a step ahead of the rest, though I wish there was more of a soup selection. read more
