This is quite the well stocked Circle K with the usual snacks and drinks plus gas pumps outside with Shell products. The restroom was mostly clean and accessible. The gals behind the counter were wearing their masks, mostly. The store has a large "beer cave" with more than enough of whatever it is that you're drinking while you enjoy the island. It is however, the place to go to get any gourmet food or snack you could think of: Cheese, salmon, dips, spreads, crackers, etc. At first glance, the store looks a bit small. There is also a large back room with clothing, knick knacks, souvenirs, and even more food. The owners were lovely. They helped my son who ran back and forth several tunes for snacks. Most of all we will be indebted to the owner for recommending what has become our favorite brand of pretzels, Dots. Now we buy Dots Pretzels by the pound online. So if you are looking for a little treat or souvenir when staying in Matlacha, make sure to stop at the Specialty Market.

Dave suggested…read morethat we head out to Matlacha and Pine Island and have a late breakfast at the Pine Island Getaway Cafe. Great idea! We love supporting our local community as it is still recovering from Hurricane Ian. We crossed the bridge towards St. James City and towards the Cafe. It was bustling and it looks like a lot of snow birds have found this hidden gem. Everything is homemade and baked there. We ordered our usual- Scrambled eggs piled high on a Croissant with bacon and cheese. A delicious crispy concoction that keeps us coming back! Not to mention the fresh ground coffee and the little patio outside overlooking a peaceful lake. We ate our sandwiches outside in the cool beautiful breezy weather. The sandwich is so yummy and you need a fork and knife to cut through the delicate croissant. Then off we go to our favorite little Publix on Pine Island to grocery shop.
