Handicapped access to rooms. The amount of stairs and where they are placed make checking in difficult if you're using a cane and impossible if you need a wheel chair.

Perfect stay with everything we needed. No complaints. No hassle. No noisy neighbors. $500 for a week. Very affordable.

The room was filthy. Ashes all over the bed and holes burned in the blanket. Footprints on the futon. Dirt on the floor. Grimy in general. Filthy hallways. Different location from listing so we had to get a second Lyft! In the middle of the night in winter! No breakfast as advertised because they said we can make our own food in our suite. We only stayed because it was 3am and we had no car. We stayed one night out of four booked but didn't get our money back. No response from owners when we asked for a refund for unused nights. Disgusting.

I really appreciated the time Jill and Scott spent with us over breakfast telling us about the history of Fairbanks and giving us tips about what to do and where to go for dinner. I loved hearing about the history of the house and looking at all the black and white photos from over 100 years ago. Thank you for making it one of the best vacations we've ever had!

My dad and I had the opportunity to stay here on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. We just needed a quick place to stay for one night in Fairbanks as we had another flight to Bettles the following morning. So, so many regrets - I wish we had at least two nights here! The place is listed on the National Register of Historic Places!!! How awesome! We stayed in the William Room ($131) which was on the first floor of this beautifully historic bed and breakfast located in the heart of Fairbanks. The manager (?), Melanie, greeted us and got us checked in for the night. We were able to make ourselves feel at home even with all of the antiques everywhere. I was truly amazed and got out my DSLR to take some more photos. We did our laundry every chance we got during our five-week trip so I was quite thankful Melanie allowed us to use the washer and dryer which were located in the basement. Although each room seemed to be booked, we actually didn't see many other guests during our short stay. Like I mentioned before, our stay was short and we had to leave to get back to the airport pretty early. Melanie was so gracious to accommodate us and still provide breakfast despite it being before the normal breakfast time - I really appreciate that! The pancakes, sausage, and fresh fruit were all incredible and I'm not just saying that - it was one of the best breakfasts of the entire trip! I'm going to let the pictures show how great this place is but I do want to note this is one of the oldest buildings in Alaska, built in the 1916s (I think) by a wealthy man to court a female to Fairbanks. It was sold a short while later to author Mary Lee Davis and has since changed owners upwards of 11 times. It's been restored and decorated to reflect the early 19th century. Check out the pictures but more importantly, book a stay here!

Our room was comfortable, quiet and tastefully furnished. Note that this is a home in the midst of a residential neighborhood, so it did not fit our notion of a lodge. This is not meant as a negative, but rather it just did not fulfill our uninformed expectation. Also, it is 10-15 minutes to get to the airport, train station, or downtown, which was fine for us but to some it may matter. We highly recommend the accommodations if you are looking for a delightful night in Fairbanks.

Bill's breakfast/brunch is AMAZING, something both me and my love one are missing now that we are back in CA. The place is new and very close to the city and easy access to Chena Hotsprings, it's perfect for us. We got the Jacuzzi room and paid a bit more for it, it was totally worth it for us. The room is huge and we got everything we needed in the room, the host even provided a set of toiletries in case you forgot! The kitchen and living room is very nice, although we did not get to use it much. The place is immaculate and we are so very pleased with this booking. Also, Bill is such a great person, he has a ton of knowledge and talking to him seemed like I have learned so much about Alaska and other aspects of living. BONUS: we saw one of the best Northern Lights/Aurora right from the deck of this place! Highly highly recommended.

As an overall three-star facility, they do not disappoint. The atmosphere, warmth, and coziness speak for themselves. It was very pleasant, very clean, and very well kept--both public areas and private rooms. While we were there, a small ice cream bar opened in one of the sitting/library-type areas just off the main lobby. We thought that was a nice touch. There are two primary dining options here: a more upscale-feeling buffet-type area close to the main lobby, as well as Pikes Landing, a separate building housing its other bar and dining options. The Landing has more of a cabin-esque atmosphere. While definitely an upscale three-star facility, it is also a rather pleasantly quirky place. The walls are adorned with historical tidbits, as well as their proud reputation of having hosted the starting line for three Iditarods. There are several special locations around the property, including outdoor dining seating, a spacious patio/deck area, and what I would call "their library." The library is a small building way off to one side of the main building. It houses a small billiards room, a cozy little library sitting area with floor-to-ceiling shelves and a sliding book ladder, and a tiny theater. The theater features a roughly 20-minute independent film about unique views of Alaska, along with breathtaking footage of past Auroras. Seriously--this is a must-go-to when you're here. The staff were somewhat of a quandary for us. Most of the time they were very receptive, friendly, and helpful. There were a small handful of moments, though, when we just got the feeling that perhaps we were asking questions at an inconvenient time. It's one of those things where, when they excelled, they were over the top, but every now and then you got "just a funny feeling" from them. Maybe that's a late-in-the-season thing; I don't know. Overall, though, they were in the 95% range for us. We kept getting mixed messages about the free shuttle service. Unless you hear or experience something different, I would assume those rides are primarily going to get you to the airport or back, and I wouldn't count on being able to get to other locations. That said, Pikes is an unofficial stop on the local Metro route, and they will point out a place where, if you stand and wave the bus down, it will stop for you. We were very pleased with both the Metro and local Uber/Lyft options. The local taxis, not so much (not as clean and interior as their competition). There was one element of our visit that surprised us. Our research indicated that this was going to be one of the most picturesque and beautiful hotel locations for sunsets and river views. I cannot take that away from them--it is true. Our third-floor, west-facing balcony room in the main building had a great daytime view. These were among the premium rooms people had recommended if we wanted great sunsets and Aurora views. We apparently missed the Aurora season by about three days. Bummer! But here's the thing: throughout the night, that entire back patio section between us, the river, and the sunset view is lit up like a main drag in Las Vegas. We jokingly mentioned that the only thing missing was a flashing sign reading "EAT AT JOE'S." Unless those lights are turned off during certain times when Auroras are present, I think I would have been a tad disappointed paying a premium price for a "room with a view" with that much light pollution throughout the night. The daytime view was wonderful; I would simply ask about the nighttime lighting before paying extra specifically for Aurora viewing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. It is clean, comfortable, interesting, and just quirky enough to be memorable. The library, theater, historical touches, outdoor spaces, and daytime views were definitely memorable. Just ask about the nighttime lighting if an Aurora-viewing room is part of the plan.
