I've been a customer since I moved to Libertyville 9 years ago. I've gone through many eye care professionals since I was in 6th grade. I (or my parents) have chosen most based on cost, and have had mediocre at best results. When the time came for an upgrade I decided I would search for value, not cost. I visited a few highly rated establishments, and decided on 730 North. I was glad I did, because it was the best experience I have ever had with my vision. Really nice people that take their time to get it right and listen to my concerns. My first experience was great but something was off with one of the lenses. They ordered a replacement and honestly after that I had the best vision I ever remember having. I just recently upgraded again and my experience was once again terrific. This place is the BEST. We actually really enjoy coming here for our annual exams because the whole staff make the experience so pleasant! Particularly wanted to call out Dr. Yin, who is fantastic and might have the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever met -- it honestly just feels like catching up with a friend every time we see her. The people at this place are fabulous! Woke up Saturday morning to find my left eye glued shut from seepage. Cleared that and discovered that the entire eyeball was deep red. Called 730 North hoping to get a same day appointment. Unfortunately, the doctors weren't in that day. The person who answered my call asked me a number of questions and said she would have the doctor on call reach out to me. Within 30 mins I was on the phone with Dr. Diana Yin. We face timed so she could take a look. She was so kind and caring. An excellent listener and very patient with my questions. She prescribed antibiotic eye drops. By Sunday the pain was gone and now on Tuesday my eyeballs are bright white. I worked in the medical industry for 29 years and have rarely had the pleasure of knowing a doctor like Diana Yin. I have been coming here for a few years and am always highly impressed with their facilities, etiquette, and service. I have now moved to downtown Chicago, and I like this place enough that I am willing to make the 1 hour drive for my eye appointments. They're that good. The staff here, as a whole, is wonderful. They are extremely helpful without being robotic - in fact, the opposite is true, and they always make you feel at home. They have gone above and beyond for me a few times. Once, I was in a different state on vacation and had left my contacts at home, and they helped me call my prescription into a WalMart so that I could go pick up some contacts to tide me over. They also were willing to let my mom pick up my contacts once on a day that they were supposed to be closed. Basically, I'm an unorganized mess, and they keep picking up the pieces. Dr. Jody Ricketts contacted me directly a few days after my visit. She was aware of the situation with the lab breaking my frames and had already started to source a replacement set for me from another local store that carried Chrome Hearts. What a coincidence, as I had already booked an appointment to head over to Blink Optical in Lake Forest, and to my surprise Dr. Ricketts had already made arrangements with them to take care of me. I had no idea she had done this until I showed up at Blink! I wasn't expecting a full replacement or the behind-the-scenes efforts. This was nothing short of amazing. I've been coming here for a very long time and the three doctors are all great. Actually thinking about it maybe I've only had Daughetry and recently, Pak as my doctor. It's possible I had Ricketts, but that might have been when I was younger. Everything is on time and the staff are friendly, patient, helpful, when trying out glasses or ordering or paying etc. The office/store is very clean. There is a small chess or tic-tac-toe set I've never used. There is a free water cooler in the back. Once I tried to use contacts here and they were patient as I fumbled for twenty minutes or so (to this day I still use glasses). It's right next to the Libertyville Metra station, which is convenient if you live in Chicago. I usually set aside 60-90 minutes for the time I'll be at the office when getting a checkup. read more

I've been wearing glasses for nearly 30 years, and this is the best eye doctor I've been to. I've seen Dr. Walsh every year, and she is thorough, intelligent, and friendly. The office staff is also amazing...they are very accommodating and will do what needs to be done to keep the customer happy. Their hours are also extremely convenient, and I've never had to miss work to go see the doc. Finally, their frame selection is good. You would think that being in Libertyville, they would only carry high end frames, but there is something at every price point, and I found that they are no more expensive than any other eye doctor I've been to. They also don't pressure you into purchasing their frames, which I appreciate. I think if you live anywhere near them and are in need of an eye doctor, there's pretty much no other choice. I have been going to 730 North for three years. Wonderful staff, very patient. They go above and beyond and find rebates and discounts to help you with the price. I work very close and on a couple of occasions I tore my contact at work and I just give them a call and pick up a new contact. Fabulous eye care experience. Had the latest technology for retinal eye scans. Confirmed my prescription is stable for the last 3 years. No puff of air in my eyes - no discomfort. Offered contact lenses using new materials that allow more oxygen, hence longer wear time. Didn't push me to buy new glasses. Confirmed my existing glasses met my prescription needs and adjusted them, so they fit better and tightened them. Love their staff and excellent customer service. read more

Dr Ricketts and her staff were fantastic! In addition to being informative and helpful, they were patient in dealing with an old newbie like myself....I tried on somewhere around 50 plus pairs of frames...lol......I now have my glasses and have rejoined the world of the seeing... They were welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and very prompt. I was in and out of the eye doctor appointment so quickly while still feeling they did a thorough job, including a more in-depth explanation of eye health than I've ever received. Of course, I hung around a while afterwards to pick out new frames and received immediate one-to-one service and great opinions on which frames to choose and why. We are always treated as if we are their best customers at 730 North. The exams are relaxed and thorough. Even my doctor phobic anxiety ridden son loves to come here as they explain everything to him and and put him at ease. They are very knowledgeable about what your insurance covers and help you to pick out the best options for your needs and insurance. I wish that their eyeglass selection was a little more diverse but they do carry Oliver Peoples which is one of my favorite lines and they do have a wide selection, it just seems that a lot of them are very similar styles. We have purchase sports, plastic and metal frame glasses from them and been very happy with each of them. read more

After checking Costco and other contact places, it is apparent that we have been paying a premium through 730 North. I'll never do business here again. First, I will say it's a very nice shop with awesome frame selection and the employees are kind and knowledgeable, but I had an experience that was unacceptable in my opinion, and I'm a pretty easy going dude. I bought some nice frames and they had to get them shipped in brand new from the supplier and once they received them they went ahead and sent them to the lab to get the lenses made. Seems like a standard procedure right? Well it is, but she didn't take my pupillary distance!!! Everything happened quickly and I realized she didn't while I was driving away thinking, "Hmm...I wonder if that will bite me in the a**". Sure enough, they call me, I come in and right when I put them on I see the vision isn't right. I try not to think too hard about it and attempted to wear them for the next 24 hours and I just couldn't do it. I bring the glasses back, get my pupillary distance checked, and they put in the order to make the new lenses no problem and were nice about it. She tells me to just hold on to the frames as they have the lens size on file and assures me they don't need them to be sent in this time. Well whadda ya know...they call when the lenses are in, I drive over and what happens now? THE LENSES DON'T FIT IN THE FRAME. She comes out, tells me the bad news and at this point I almost wanted to demand a refund and walk away to do business elsewhere, but I kept my cool and decided to stick with it. So, after another week goes by they call me and I drive out there for the FIFTH time which is frustrating because I don't live very close either. The vision is good, the frame feels good and everything checks out fine. I get in the car and look at them a little more and notice the left temple is super flimsy to the point that it feels like it's barely screwed in. I go back inside, she attempts to tighten it and then says, "It's as tight as it can be, the right one will eventually loosen up and they will both be that way, which is normal". It isn't normal in my opinion. I've had cheaper frames and a temple has never been this flimsy. I didn't say anything because I was just fed up and I proceded to act like I was cool with it, which I wasn't. I've looked at this frame under the light at home and I've noticed the very sleek and low profile rubber-like border around the rims has spaces where it's not there and the titanium is exposed underneath it. So, clearly these were man-handled so many times by different people along the way especially by the lab techs that I basically got a slightly used frame. I'm not going to waste any more time, energy, and especially gas to demand a new frame either. I'm just done dealing with this establishment and will keep my distance. In conclusion, I'm sure my story is a rare experience as you will read great reviews about this place. And once again, it is a really nice high-end eyeglasses shop and the people are very kind, but this was just completely unacceptable to me. I'm not going to say, "Don't go here!" because you should absolutely support local before Luxxotica, and no one is perfect, but for me I'll find some other local place to do business with. read more

I have needed to wear corrective lenses since I was in 4. Which means I have been going to the eye doctor once a year for the past 26 years. I have been trying out different doctors since moving away from home after college and have had very bad luck finding a good one. I finally found the service and eye exam experience that I have been looking for at 730 North Op. The front desk staff are super friendly and the place has a comfortable laid back feel. Their offices are clean and the equipment is state of the art. Dr. Daugherty did a wonderful job and I will keep going to her as long as I live anywhere in the area of this office. She took the time to explain everything and made sure I was comfortable with the prescription changes that she was recommending. The frame selection is good, but a little pricey for my liking, but I was able to find a reasonably priced frame that I liked. They were very familiar which my insurance and the whole process was a pleasure. I will be back ! read more

While the staff and doctors are very friendly, they have no idea what they are doing. After getting my glasses, I told them multiple times the script was incorrect. They kept telling me it was correct and after 3 attempts to get it right, they told me that "this would be the last pair they attempt." So, after $600 down the tube I was left with a pair of glasses I could not use. When I got my eyes checked again, by a REAL eye doctor, I was correct. The script they gave me was incorrect. Oh...and by the way, my mother's script was incorrect as well. I would NEVER recommend this place. read more

I needed three pairs of glasses (two different prescriptions) and they were so patient and helpful. The sunglasses were not dark enough so I brought them back and the sales person and I agreed that they were also not the right frame for me. She ordered a new frame with darker lenses and let me hold onto the original pair until I picked up the new pair. The new pair was perfect. I've rarely experienced this type of customer service. BEWARE........Very nice selection of frames. My family and I all have had our eye exams here until they tried to sell us on "eye therapy." We were told that our 5th grader had an "eye teaming" problem and would need therapy once a week for many weeks, very expensive and not covered by insurance... paid $280 for the evaluation with the "eye therapist"... our stupidity. We got a second opinion from Dr. Nancy Hamming at Medical Eye Services, specializing in pediatrics. My daughter DID NOT have an eye teaming problem. Dr. Hamming was more than disgusted by this dishonesty. Get a second opinion!!!! read more

Meghan was very detailed oriented and gave me some great recommendations due to her careful and comprehensive exam.
