I was playing a video game here during the 89 earthquake and barely noticed before the machine almost tipped over. Being pretty close to the county hospital they have to deal with more than their fare share of of the mentally divergent and homeless which with they do with understanding and patience. The times that I am broke and really need something they have always had my back. It might not be fancy but they are honest and dependable. They have affordable quality products with a pretty decent selection. They are exactly what you should expect from your local corner convenient mart. Not the place to do your weekly grocery shopping but the perfect place to grab a few things you need on the way home.

The reviews have been pointing me in the direction of their Philly Cheesesteak. I finally had the chance to pay this place a visit today. The place is unassuming for what I dare to say is the best sandwich shop in the East Bay. When I walked in to the liquor store there was no deli counter visible. I asked the gentleman working there if they still sold sandwiches in the evening which he replied, "yes" and pointed to a simple menu. A Philly Cheesesteak came out to $14.99 and he warned me it would take about 20 minutes to prepare. I took my sandwich home and ate it about a hour later and it was still piping hot when I took a bite. Let me just say, that it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I love sandwiches and most places are mediocre, but honestly I was shocked how good it actually was! It's fair to say I will be back very soon!

Although, last week my son was waiting and waiting for days to get an update on his prescription. When he finally called, they said they couldn't process it without more information...why didn't they notify him of that they needed more information?! Clearly the managers don't take pride in the store or they would require the employees to do more than a half-assed job. I upgraded my rating to two stars because I called about my order this morning, and spoke to a lovely, polite lady about my order. She was very concerned that there was a problem and apologetic. At first she couldn't find any reference to the order so I said I would place it again. But a few minutes later, she called back and said she found the order and would fill it right away. She was very friendly and that made a huge difference. The few clerks that I have interacted with have generally been indifferent and non-caring. Customer interaction matters!
