We were in Benicia heading to a car show and looking for a simple breakfast when we stumbled upon this unique little restaurant that looks like a house! The building is actually both a restaurant and an inn, and I was completely floored by how cute it was. There are tons of photo opportunities around the property! It's a small spot where you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The menu is simple, and because the space is small, it does take a little time to get your food. They make quite a few things homemade, and the homemade jelly was fantastic! I'm not sure if I'll return specifically for the food, but I had a really enjoyable visit. I stumbled upon this gem on weekday morning, I stopped in with no reservations. You walk through the gate and can enter through the garden or the front entrance of the inn. The garden is so beautiful with ample amounts of shade on a sunny day. While you won't see any water views it is absolutely stunning. You order and take a number and your food is brought to you. The atmosphere here is really nice. It is in a cute inn and has nice seating and is clean. The people were very friendly. I was, however, disappointed with the food. We ordered a breakfast sandwich. The bread was very hard and dense and did not taste like bread that I was accustomed to for a breakfast sandwich. The chicken in the chicken has was large pieces of chicken with okra, potatoes and onions. It did not resemble a hash in my opinion. It was more like a chicken stir fry. I've given this place a try multiple times because it is so cute and the employees are really nice. The food has always taken a ridiculous amount of time to be served. My last visit it took two plates of eggs and potatoes over 30 minutes and there was hardly anyone else dining. It is a little confusing to find at first but you just walk all the way straight down once you walk into the building until you can't and then make a right. Our party of 10 had a wonderful Sunday Brunch experience in the exquisitely charming back room (more like a welcoming sun room actually) today. The ambiance was bright and cheerful with light filled windows and plants throughout. We were warmly greeted by Sarah and also welcomed by Erica. My wife's meal was bare on the plate she enjoyed what she got but it lacked presentation. My quiche was flavored very well, the custard was too wet and separated from the delicious veg combo zucchini and asparagus. Great taste but the crust was leathery. I needed a steak knife but I just picked it up with my hands like a savage and ate it. The green salad on the side was very good. Light dressing very simple. The coffee was ok. The service was very friendly one of the best parts of the experience. They could use one more staffer on the busy times I can tell. They were cheery. The biggest complaint was the blaring hay ride country music that over produced tight jeans wet TShirt contest kinda hobby lobby vibe. It almost made the experience unbearable. The space is beautiful and the choices of art celebrates famous chefs. The interior design says class and care for the customer. The music tore through the thoughtful design to leave me with a headache and a very overwhelming sense of dread like a scene from deliverance. Would I go again? Yeah if I found out the fired the DJ. I had just come from a dr appointment and had been fasting for 24 hours to do blood work. Was. Starving. I'd wanted to try this place for a long time, but it's never open when I'm able to go. So I was delighted to be able to sit outside, enjoy a lovely view of their vegetable and flower gardens and enjoy a delicious omelette, salad and iced tea. The only issue I had was no one ever checked in or refilled my glass and I was dying for more tea! The omelette was great, and the tea was unsweetened and real tea. What an incredible find in my nearby city of Vallejo - in Benicia! I met up with some long time friends from elementary school with one person coming from Fairfield and the other from Oakland, so this was a great location for meeting in the middle! First off, the place is just lovely - a restored Victorian B&B tucked off the main drag and in quiet neighborhood with plentiful street parking. The option to eat outdoors in the garden on a warm winter day was lovely, but we decided on a cozy spot indoors for more privacy. It's the kind of place where you have to place your order at the counter then take your seat with your number, yet the young ladies at the cashier and coffee service were incredibly warm, welcoming, and gave enthusiastic suggestions for what was best on the menu that day, and their specials in general. I had the Farmer's hash with bacon - which was perfection - and we shared a lovely serving of delicious deviled eggs. Everyone was very pleased with the entire experience, and I can't wait to visit again - perhaps spending the night for a B&B staycation with the hubby!? If so, I'll report back! read more

Very cute cafe tucked away off the main downtown street. The GPS likely will take you to the street where the inn entrance is. You can go in "backwards" through the patio seating. We were walking down 1st and followed a sign directing us 0.5 miles down a side street. This brings you to the front of the cafe. The decor is farmhouse. Lots of plants! It's warm and welcoming. This morning we ordered the breakfast plate and the farmers market hash. The price is a little steep for a casual order at the counter and take a number type of restaurant. Breakfast for two came out to about $47 after tax and tip. But the food is very tasty and fresh! I left feeling quite full. The presentation is beautiful! For example take a look at the bacon on the breakfast plate. That's quality bacon. It's not 85% fat. All the other ingredients were high quality as well. I really enjoyed the seasonal hash. It had a slight kick to it. They did not skimp on the smoked chicken. I did feel it would be worth about $20 with how loaded it was. The okra and corn gave it a nice freshness to balance out the heaviness of potatoes. Good balance of flavors and textures. For water there is a self service station with glasses and straws. You have your choice of still or sparkling water. The Cafe is a fun treat to myself when I'm feeling like a breakfast or brunch that's a little more. read more

My girls and I came on a Wednesday around 11 am and were able to get a seat right away! We were a large party of 10! You pay first at the counter and then find a table! We got bottomless mimosas but not everyone needs to order it! We tried the grape flavor, and it was amazing!! There's a limit of 1.5 hours for bottomless and the refill time for the drinks are slightly slow since they make the mimosas as you go, but everything else is perfect! It was my first time coming to have breakfast here, and I loved it so much! This is such a cute place to grab a bite to eat, or stay if you're in need of lodging. I had no idea this B&B existed, let alone how yummy the food they're serving is! My cousins and I came after a workout, so you know we were hungryyyy. It was close to brunch time on a Sunday when we got there, so two of us opted for their burger, while the other grabbed their special of shrimp and grits. Everything was delicious! The burgers were juicy and flavorful, and their grits were nicely seasoned and comforting. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was standard. Can't complain! This is an order and then sit restaurant. Although it was already busy when we got there, there was plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors. The person we ordered from at the register was super nice, and the server who delivered our food to our table was very kind as well. Great service all around! This quaint B&B is in the heart of downtown Benicia, surrounded by other local shops and beautiful scenery by the water. Stepping foot into the restaurant, it gives you that old time home inn experience. Front the front door, you walk into the home and eventually find the restaurant. I really liked the decor inside. There are plenty of rooms you can choose from and also outdoor dinning. The staff was friendly. This isn't your typical restaurant. After getting our meal, there was no follow up with staff to see if I need anything refilled or just to check up on us. The food was ok, but it didn't help the prices seemed a little high for the place. This would be a nice place to hold a small wedding, but don't really plan to go back here unless prices change or the food gets better. read more

There's so many photographable areas, as each room is uniquely designed and has so much attention to detail! We tried breakfast items and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted so fresh. They hand make all of their items with homemade ingredients. Their servers are so kind and polite. You really do feel like you're home away from home here. I recently hosted a large party and chose this business based on how cute the space was. Kyle was pleasant to work with throughout the planning process, and I will say that the food itself tasted great. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of expectations. Considering we were hosting a large event (30 people) and paying a premium for both the food and service, the level of hospitality was disappointing. The staff's attitudes were unprofessional, and we repeatedly had to ask for water. Instead of being served, we were handed plastic cups and pitchers and were expected to refill our own drinks for the duration of the event. Beyond setting the food in front of us, there was very little actual service provided. Which came as a surprise seeing as we had to pay a service fee just for the servers and then the expectation of a generous tip on top of things. In addition, I provided a final guest count several days before the event, yet I was still charged based on the original estimated headcount rather than the updated number. When it was time to pay, I was asked to go inside where I was quickly handed a payment screen given little opportunity to review the charges all while the servers and chef stood directly in front of me while I completed the transaction, I felt pressured to make sure I left a hefty tip rather than being able to make that decision comfortably. Then I was charged based off an incorrect number, tipped based on the charge when I came to find out they billed me over $200 wrongly and I tipped with that number in mind giving their poor service almost a 30% tip. The food was excellent, however, the service, billing experience, and checkout process left me disappointed and would make me think twice before booking another event here. read more

Benicia's best kept garden hideaway is magical and so comfy. It's one of those cafes that feels welcoming and homey. I went to Cafe at the Inn twice for my birthday brunch! First with a large group -- which they can accommodate if you call ahead -- and then with two of my favorite ladies. Both times we were happy with the fresh food, delicious drink options, and wonderful ambiance. Inside there's so many cute corner nooks including interior design that is so classic and thoughtful. I love this cafe. From the amazing service to the charm of the decor, I really feel like this spot has it all. The focus here is breakfast and lunch but they also will do special random dinners if you keep up with their social media. I think my favorite thing about this place is the random specials they have. They always hit. My favorites so far have been the Loco Moco and the Prime Rib Sandwich. If Im not getting a special my usual go tos are the Breakfast Sandwich and the Hash here.
