My friends and I used to come here allllll the time until we started noticing new employees. Those new employees have been giving us TERRIBLE experience. One of the bartenders one with glasses, scronny ash and tall decided to chase us out the door telling us we're too broke to give a tip because we didn't see the option for it and started explaining how they get paid and how miserable they're life is and how dependent they are for tips as a living. I didn't come here to listen to someone's midlife crisis I came to play the game. I understood a tip was for great service not a mandatory thing. Underrated and hidden gem! Ok, it's definitely a smoky dive bar. Yes they smoke cigs right next to where you eat.... And they do allow smoking, although they must have the best ventilation system ever, because I never smell smoke, unless some a-hole near me is smoking a stinky cigar. My clothes never smell like smoke. Having said that, they have the most delicious bar food you could imagine, and at the most reasonable price. I would say that their specialties are their burgers and wings, but actually everything is delectable. They prepare the food right in front of you. So don't be turned off because it is a pool hall. Extremely Disappointing Experience I don't usually leave reviews, but the experience my friends and I had at this pool lounge bar was unacceptable. My friend, who is well over 21, was refused service--even after providing multiple valid forms of ID, including official government-issued identification. The staff brushed her off with condescending remarks like "That picture's a glamour shot" and "The cops are on our back," as if looking young somehow invalidates a legitimate ID. She was spoken to in an accusatory and dismissive tone, like she was trying to scam them, which was incredibly insulting and completely uncalled for. Meanwhile, we saw other guests who looked just as young--if not younger--being served without a second glance. The inconsistency and bias were impossible to ignore. To make matters worse, the staff seemed visibly intoxicated. They were swaying back and forth trying to look at her ID, they were slurring words, and more focused on joking with each other than actually doing their jobs. It felt chaotic and unprofessional from start to finish. What was supposed to be a fun night out turned into a frustrating and embarrassing experience that completely derailed our evening. If this place wants to be taken seriously, they need to train their staff on how to properly verify IDs and treat paying customers with respect. I used to love 8 Ball Lounge! Loved it! Went there every Friday about 10 years ago. The owner, Kate, would wait on us sometimes. Great memories! What an effing shame it is to go there now. The waitresses were great but the place is in absolute shambles. The owners have completely stopped caring and it shows in every way! 2 leaks in the building with buckets on top of tables to catch the water. The largest of the 2 leaks is by one of their best pool tables that even the locals don't want to play at because there is too much humidity. My friend had the burger and I genuinely was worried that he may get sick from it. It didn't look bad but if they're not fixing leaks that everyone can see, what's going on in the tiny little kitchen? It may not be so but I imagine it's worse! Much worse! It's with great sadness to say that I will never go back. I would have ranked this place 4 stars back in the day, all day. Yes, it's smoky! Yes, the burgers have always looked like crap but they tasted good! Yes, the pool tables have not been refelted since Jesus was turning water into wine! But that was the flavor of 8 Ball. I don't think I've ever given a 1 star rating. Here's the problem and it may not be a problem for some of you. Our Family visiting was made up of the following: My wife, her sister, 2 nephews, ages 13 & 19 and I went so the kids could play pool. We walked in and had to walk out immediately due to being hit with a think cloud of cigarette smoke and it was one of the teens who said "We can't go in there." No one was unkind and, in fact, when we called ahead, the young lady was extremely pleasant and accommodating, but the environment was toxic, health-wise. We are conservative people and don't ever inhale 2nd hand smoke if we can avoid it. One of us has sinus trouble as well when we get around smoke. I guess if you are a smoker/drinker, this may be the place for you, although I don't think either is a safe or desirable habit. read more

The cook cut lettuce and a tomato after cutting what looked like either raw chicken or pork then set the knife next to a wet rag that was sitting on the cutting board the ENTIRE time. I am visiting from Toronto and I decided to ignore the reviews since it was the closest pool hall to where I am staying, bad decision. The reviews are accurate!! The staff were not very friendly and didn't seem to care about any of their patrons as they stayed behind the bar the entire time. And there were only 10-15 people inside. It's probably because they have ceiling fans behind the bar to keep them cool. I don't think they had any a/c on because it was so hot in there I was sweating the entire time I was playing. I am an avid pool player, and you can't play properly with sweaty hands. Also, the tables are in horrible shape. Spills all over the cloth, crap all over the cloth, banks all play different, balls are too small for the triangle (loose racks). And lastly, it was nice to be able to smoke while I played, but smoking inside is gross for everybody. With the smoke and the heat and the overall dirtyness of my experience there, the first thing I did when I got home was shower.
