Highly encouraged from Chef John at Next door/Gather, we ventured off to liberty to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. It was a long week, but we celebrated with amazing food. Cheered to another year and celebrated at Liberty. The menu is in a traditional tapas shareable for two stretchable for four. The flavors are intense and overwhelming good. There is plenty to order and enjoy so get it. Enjoy a nice wine. Never lacked anything down to a full glass of water at all times. Staff was amazing!
Our first time at liberty with our son who is a foodie at heart. Previous reviews cover all the essentials and I will just add my own personal thoughts. This is a niche tapas restaurant catering to those individuals that enjoy expertly prepared food without any pretense. The restaurant itself is very unassuming with seats for 10 at the bar overlooking the kitchen and booths as well as some awkward seating as you first enter the restaurant that can accommodate up to 20 more people. What impressed me as much as the quality of the food was the quality of our server, RAIZA, who on a scale of one to 10 was a 15. She not only knew the food but her expertise with the wine pairings was superb and I think my son really appreciated her input and selections after he had laid out some of his criteria. We ordered eight items for the three of us and they were all unique, wonderfully tasteful and beautifully presented. Each selection is paired with a different wine and you have ample time between selections to chat and talk about how good the next selection will be. Hopefully my pictures will present an accurate account of how wonderful everything was. This is not the kind of restaurant that I would personally return to on a regular basis but I would welcome the opportunity to come here once a year just to be reminded of how food/dining can be a joyous occasion. It was clear from our visit that liberty has a devout following. It was interesting that there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table and this was for the obvious reason that the food came to the table properly seasoned with no extras required. I would have to say our eight selections were ample but on the light side. We arrived at our reservation time at 5:45 and departed at 7:45, a very leisure dining experience. To summarize, liberty will continue to thrive as long as they are able to maintain their high standards of food and service, kudos to ownership and staff for providing such a unique experience in Fort Myers. The medium rare chocolate chip cookies were good but the cinnamon toast crunch ice cream was beyond compare and I certainly could've used a man's size portion of that as it was so delicious.
Five stars in every way from start to finish. Super friendly, attentive, helpful staff. Love the open kitchen and interacting with the chefs. Everything is so fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Fun menu combinations and great (slower) pace better plates allowing you to savor what you just had and build excitement for the next. Fine cruise without the fine dining pretentiousness. We made our next reservation before we left.
I loved, loved, loved this place. This place is assuming and tucked away and I had no idea what to think but I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. The space is small and reservations is highly recommended. The menu changes monthly but I heard they keep some staples. The food was delicious, complex, fun, and the presentation was top notch. We talked to the chef during our meal and you can tell that there was a lot of thought put into the menu and thought into the execution of the food. Plates are small but full of flavor and have enough food. I recommend this place over and over to all food lovers. It was priced reasonable for me but it is on the higher end.
Oooooook! This cute, tiny den of deliciousness isn't one to miss. Reservations are a must. And be prepared for excellent service, a delightful greeting from the servers and chefs and an experience that I would expect of a restaurant in Fort Myers. We ordered 5 dishes to share between three people and that was more than enough but 2-3 per person is recommended. The gnocchi and lamb ragu are a must and did not disappoint! I will be trying my hand at a lamb ragu in the near future. The medium rare chocolate chip Cookie was just ok but the Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream was to die for! Like serious! But hurry in soon the menu changes often!
We ate at Liberty for our anniversary dinner this week -- it was our first time at the restaurant & we were so impressed! All of the food was incredible and the staff was amazing, so energetic, upbeat, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. It was so cool to sit in front of the chefs & engage with them, watch them cook, and chat about the food. You could tell that everyone at the restaurant enjoyed their experience as well. For 2 people we ordered 6 menu items & 1 dessert and it was the perfect amount of food for us. Everything we saw the chefs make looked phenomenal & smelled amazing! Each dish we ate was delicious but our favorites were the brussel sprouts, goat cheese lamb ragu pasta and the black garlic tacos. All of the flavors, sauces, and "toppings" were spot on and went so perfectly together. The cookies were incredible as well - so soft, gooey, and melty! The restaurant is a small place & tucked away but makes for such an intimate experience. We had the best night with the best food and will definitely be back!
Wonderful experience. We sat at the chef's table. The chefs were friendly and engaging and the servers were attentive. Food was delicious; we ordered too much, but that's a good problem to have here. Casual vibe but upscale quality food. We will be back!
it was a joyous reunion to dine at @eat_liberty for the first time in almost a YEAR last week. Given pregnancy diet restrictions aka no raw meat, runny eggs, etc. I wanted to wait until after Parker arrived so I could fully eat my heart out at Liberty although time has passed, the exceptional quality and flavors stayed true throughout each course...I was most excited to reunite with the Beef Tartare with fancy mustard and warm pita points but the other selections...Shrimp Toast, Parisian Gnochhi, and Honey Roasted Duck were all fantastic. Each plate is great to share with a pal (that way you can taste MORE of the offerings) but one or two could be a meal for a solo diner. go check out this place if you haven't! Small eatery with BIG personality.
Service is top tier. Everyone works as a a team and make sure guests have everything they need. The space is very intimate , like European boutique style . Very cool note, you order and the staff creates an experience with the food and it comes out in a specific order. I enjoy small details like that. The food needs its own paragraph. We had the gnocchi with mushrooms and pistachios parsnip cream sauce . The gnocchi was a crisp heavenly pillow with the creamiest inside, mushrooms were perfectly sautéed and I didn't leave a drop of the parsnip cream sauce with pesto . The 50 layer potato was crispy and you had the choice to drag it through a delicate cream sauce and cold sweet tomato leek salad. Next dish was the black garlic beef gouchujang tacos , the beef was crispy, yet so juicy and flavorful and the homemade tortilla and pickled veggies were a perfect touch. The last dish we ate was the honey age duck . The duck was perfectly seasoned, crispy and juicy! The little mushroom potato hash on the side was a perfect pairing! Make reservations way in advance and don't miss out. Some of the best food and service I've had in southwest florida.
I found a hidden gem in a place you would not expect. I never knew this was here in this old outdated strip mall. No real sign except a logo on the door. When you come in you find one of the smallest restaurants I have been in. Basically an open kitchen with a few tables and bar seating. All items are small plates meant to share. We got five between me and my wife and they were all great and unique. My favorites were the gnocchi and shrimp curry. They weren't both so rich and full of flavor. Give this a try but make reservations. People showed up and were turned away because it books up fast

Liberty is a cozy American spot for small plates in Fort Myers, Florida, close to the Bell Tower. You'll find plenty of parking there. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The inside has dim lighting, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere with an open kitchen perfect for small groups. The staff were fantastic, always helpful and attentive. The menu features a rotating selection of 10 to 12 creative, made-to-order small plates that are great for sharing. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Every dish was delicious, bursting with flavor and amazing! Many of the dishes came with tasty pickled sides. Food: - Hamachi yuzu-pineapple Tiradito. Fresno chili. - Steak tartare. Egg pate. Fancy mustard. Bone-Mayo (my favorite) the combination and every paired meshed very well - Parisian Gnocchi. Maitake Foam. Shitake. Pistou. "Little heavenly pillows" - 2 bite tacos. BGT beef. I have been to this restaurant now 3 times and will be there again soon. This is my favorite restaurant and the he most valuable hidden gem in Ft Myers. Menu changes every time I've been there, with every meal leaving you with a wish to come back for it another day. Service is exceptional, the place is small and cozy . Our servers were extremely helpful with all questions from the wine list to the components of every meal in terms of allergy concerns. I decided to update my review since I learned they are now featured in Michelin Guide, and the only restaurant in Ft.Myers to do so.. well deserved. Congratulations. read more

It was very hot inside but maybe because it's June and small but it was incredibly fresh and delicious Pasta and potato were amazing and finishing with the medium rare cookies was perfection read more

If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Fort Myers and enjoy a true dining "experience" do yourself a favor and book kitchen seats @Liberty! The menu is creative and unique and the service we received from the chef and especially Katie and Raiza was second to none! Looking forward to our next visit next time we are in town! read more
Great, small atmosphere. Fantastic service. Great to have a seat at the bar so we could watch the chefs prepare each plate and talk to them about what they were doing. Every plate was awesome. The gnocchi was probably my favorite and some of the best I've had (had it all over Italy too). Idk why everyone doesn't make it with ricotta instead of potato - so much lighter. The most unique was maybe the pork belly and seared tuna. The hot/cold dynamic on that plate was really good. read more

This place is unreal. It's small, I'm not sure how many seats, but it couldn't be more than 20 or so. In other words, it's a pretty exclusive spot and from my understanding fills up quickly. Be sure to get a reservation. As for the menu, you're given what looks like a bingo card with different selections. They course your meal out for you depending on what you they tell you that between two people, you might share 4 to 6 items. We got the layered French onion potato, the gnocchi, each of us got one order of the two bite tacos. We did the cod and then we did the medium rare cookies. Let me tell you, not. One thing I tasted was bad. Everything was absolutely delicious and you could tell the secret ingredient was love, intentionality, and fresh ingredients. It was also fun because we sat at the bar and were able to watch the chef Cook he talked to us quite a bit and his hospitality made the experience that much more delightful. I'm already counting down the days until we can go back again. The crazy thing is liberty is all but unmarked from the outside I would have never known it was a restaurant, let alone a must try Restaurant and Fort Myers based on its exterior appearance alone, but trust. It is worth a visit... Like yesterday. read more

Great time at Liberty celebrating. At first glance the restaurant gives you diner vibes but once your entrees start coming out, you know you've hit a fine dining establishment . I loved everything from the customized seating placement (we made a reservation ahead of time), to the rotating paper menu and of course the food. Between two people we ordered 6 items plus dessert. Our favorites were the bone marrow tacos and beef tartare. Our server was very attentive and we loved sitting at the counter to watch the chefs prepare our meals. It was a great experience but also not pretentious. Can't wait to come back read more

i cannot remember their menu exactly, but it reminded me of a bingo card. the place is small & you are able to have a view of the chef cooking if you sit on the high rise chairs. staff is very friendly and able to answer any question or attend to any accommodations (if able) food is cooked to order and let me tell you... it is delicious and fresh! typically, i am not a fan of mushrooms but it was included in our fish dish and i ate every component of said dish. every plate it seems like all the ingredients are intentional and create a new world with every bite. this place changed my taste buds. awesome work read more

This place is not for those looking for a 40 ounce ribeye and stuffed baked potato, but for foodies who appreciate delicately curated tapas dishes meant for sharing. Every dish we tried was outstanding, bursting with flavors that will leave you wanting more. The restaurant only seats a handful of guests at a time so it is reservation only. How is this place in Fort Myers?!? If you close your eyes, you would think you were in NYC or another big city. It is fine dining at it's best. It is very quaint with a limited menu so you or small plates to share. My husband and I ordered five dishes. I left satiated. The flavor profiles were unique and delicious. We ordered the gnocchi with mushrooms and prosciutto which was probably my favorite but honestly every dish was unique and exciting. We also ordered the shrimp curry which was creamy like a massaman curry. My husband was drinking it from the bowl (awkward). Lol. The pork was simple and so delicious. We also ordered the tandoori chicken skewers and beef tacos. Honestly, you can't go wrong. I'm so excited that we have a restaurant like this in Fort Myers. Run to this place!!! read more

Wow - probably the best restaurant I have been to in Fort Myers. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Cozy ambiance with very friendly staff. We had the layered potatoes, gnocchi, lamb agnolotti, tacos, and ibérico pork. The dishes were brought out one at a time, which allowed us to savor and comment on each dish. The presentation and flavor of each dish was top notch. Each dish had character and was full of flavor. Portions were perfect to share between two people. I truly can't say enough good things about this place. We will be back soon! read more

Liberty is one of those restaurants that you go in without expecting much and are completely blown away by what they have to offer. I walked in on a Wednesday evening and was promptly seated by the hostess. She handed me a paper menu and asked me to circle the things I'd like to have. The waitress was very knowledgable about everything on the menu. The ambiance is quaint and they have approximately 15-20 seats. I ordered the Cauliflower Al Pastor, Duck, Bone Marrow and 50 layer potato. All dishes were 10/10 and were made in front of me by two fantastic chefs. Cauliflower was a little spicy and quite flavourful. The curry on it was a coconut based curry that was made indian style. The 50 layer potato was a delight to eat and practically melted in my mouth. The duck was not my taste but as a dish it was very well prepared and plated. It came with sweet potatoes that were lightly roasted in oil. The bone marrow was the highlight of my dining experience. Would highly recommend! If you are in the area please do not miss this startlingly impressive restaurant! read more
