My friends and I were looking for a late dinner spot in the downtown Ft. Myers area after roller derby last night. Coincidentally, I had just added a few new places to my Yelp collection from my "Wagyu burger" search moments earlier. Sip & Sizzle was on the list. It didn't disappoint. We got in w/o a reservation on an off-season Saturday night. Service was excellent. Drink menu was fun. Lots of yummy concoctions at fairly reasonable prices. But it's the wagyu beef that I can't stop thinking about today. We got the hot stone, where you basically finish cooking your proteins on the stone at your table. I was a little under-confident about this, but our helpful waiter Cody promised he'd be there to help. It wasn't needed. Unless you don't know how to cook or grill at all, I suppose. The Wagyu was out of this world. I had tuna as well, which was quite tasty potatoes au gratin were outstanding. And a polenta, which was good even better with the garlic butter on it. Cody recommended the right sauce for my proteins. I'm glad I asked this help on that. I was a little worried the menu was somewhat confusing overall as related to the stone, but in the end, my bill was very reasonable for the top-notch experience and delicious food. read more

Great, unique concept, grilling your own food at your table, maybe not the biggest fan in the actual execution. We visited with a fairly large group, and we enjoyed the vibes. We sat outside and watched downtown Fort Myers on a Saturday night rolling by. The cocktails were excellent, and our server, Reese, was great as well. Now for the main draw: the sizzle stones. We shared a sizzle stone for two, with four proteins, two sides each, and three sauces. We had a filet each, a salmon, and a cauliflower steak. The cauliflower was overdone before it even got to our table, and over salted. The salmon was great, but in chatting with our friends, left on the stone a little too long (aka user error - if you're here with a group, it's easy to be distracted from watching the food!). I was satisfied with the filet cut. The sides were mostly solid - we liked the salad, mash, and truffle fries but weren't crazy for the rice. Overall, we enjoyed this place but felt like it maybe wasn't quite worth the hefty price. We would come back for a special occasion, but this won't be a regular haunt. I think the majority of our group agreed that we liked the idea of finishing the cook on your dinner yourself far more in theory than in execution, especially for the price. read more

Tuna tartare was beautifully presented but the cucumber had an old - not so fresh taste to it. Group dinner. We split the 6 giant limoncello shrimp and the tuna tower. I got the Caesar salad with chic peas and filet on top. So glad to see it in the dinner menu and it just the lunch menu. Apps came out and no plates or utensils. We had to wait. Only one blue cheese olive in the martini Dirty dishes stayed a little too long My salad was good but I wouldn't call it a Caesar. A group of friends met for a bite and drink. I had already visited Sip and Sizzle a couple of times when they first opened and they have expanded the menu since then. Our server, Dean was very attentive and took time explaining everything and made some great recommendations! We had a very pallet, but everyone enjoyed all of their food. Too much bread for me (removed 1 deliciously-soaked slice) and the Brussels were crispy, delicious but could've had a drizzle of balsamic and maybe sprinkle a bacon bits to level it up to perfection. I really enjoyed my quick visit to sip & sizzle in downtown Ft. Myers. I visited for their generous "Social Hour" which runs from 3-5pm daily. All signature craft cocktails are just $10 (normally 14-18), beer $5 and all wines $8. The bartender was helpful and friendly. I started with the Pistachio Martini, which was creamy, sweet, and delicious. The size was also larger than I expected. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, which came with 5 large shrimp. Unfortunately, I found the shrimp to be more room temperature than cold, and it was a bit concerning to me, so I stopped after one. I finished off with an aperol spritz, which was also good. I did order have any other food during my visit, but there is a full menu with options to cook food on a hot stone at your table. We sampled two cocktails, Sidecar and a Triple Oak Banana Manhattan. The sidecar has a good balance of sweet, sour and rich flavors of cognac. orange liqueur and lemon juice. The Angel's Envy Triple Oak bourbon was spot on with Vermouth and Banane Du Bresil. Got an instant high with a few sips! We shared a Chilean Seabass and Filet on a sizzle stone and a Duck Breast entrée. Yes, we watched and grilled the filet and seabass on sizzle stone. It took longer than our home BBQ gas grill. With two sides, three sauces and a Brussel sprout, we were happy campers! They were flavorful! Be warned, the large inside booth were designed for seating six but if ordered the sizzling stone dishes, it may be little tight! There are outside tables for seating six comfortably! It's a beautiful restaurant but that's pretty much it. I was really excited to try this one out but it has to go down as one of the worst restaurants I've been to. The chicken I got was definitely frozen chicken that was microwaved and then placed atop boxed mashed potatoes. It was horrendous. My boyfriend got the burger and it was weirdly salty in certain bites, and then bland in other bites. They served the fries with a sauce that tasted like bland carrot baby food. Beef for the tartare was gray, chorizo croquettes were oily and burnt and no flavor, bruschetta trip was disappointing flavor and portion size, and heirloom tomato salad featured unripe tomatoes and a weird textured cheese spread. The butter for the bread was an attempt for herb butter but had an over powering spice & needed salt. We only split apps and the menu options outside of the Sizzle offering didn't scream inventive. First, we called ahead and asked if we could get a table for two. They told us we might have a short wait but that it was fine. We arrived about 30 minutes later and were then told the wait would be over three hours. The only option they offered was to seat us outside with a heater because it was about 50 degrees. We agreed, and they put us at a table that should never be offered to guests. It was wobbly and placed directly on the edge of the sidewalk, about two feet from moving traffic at a stop sign. I could have reached out and touched the cars that were next to me the whole time. We were breathing exhaust fumes the entire time. It was loud, freezing, and extremely uncomfortable. We asked if we could move to a table closer to the building or even just not directly on the street. They told us we would have to wait a couple more hours because the four completely empty tables outside were all "reserved." (They couldn't move this awful table somewhere else?) not on the street maybe? Trying to salvage the evening, I ordered a drink. I asked for three green olives in my martini and two lime wedges. I was served Greek olives and two lemon wedges. I had to ask twice for it to be corrected. At this point we were already frustrated and disappointed, knowing we were about to spend over $100 while being treated like an afterthought. When the food finally arrived, the sauces were room temperature and the butter did not even melt. The steaks were okay but took an extremely long time to cook on the stone. We sat there waiting, freezing, next to traffic, with no effort from staff to improve the situation. The entire experience was awful. No one seemed to care that we were so uncomfortable or that everything about the night was going wrong. We should have left. read more

My second visit to Sip & Sizzle has been an absolute delight. Ed and Grayson provided exemplary service and were so kind and accommodating. I had the same entree (Wilderness Burger) that I had the first time, but this time it was PERFECTLY cooked to the medium rare temp. The fries were hot, fresh and nicely seasoned. The salad was the same. I love the vibe of the restaurant and the contemporary design. I will definitely come back and will not wait as long.
